Hmmmmmmmmm.........

KSal · 11/09/2010 16:10

right, i have a question. Emma loves pickled onions. Is there any reason she shouldn't eat them? I don't plan to give her loads, but i have been avoiding salty foods etc just not sure whether vinegar is a bad thing or not?!

all good here apart from being in and out of hospital with high blood pressure. Just like last time.... very tedious sitting round in the hospital a lot, but other than that all good. Considering cancelling (or severely down scaling) Emma's birthday party though, which i'm a bit gutted about, but i guess i can't predict what days i will have to go into the hospital...

pistachio, you just know that mention of feeling sick is going to arouse suspicions don't you?

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/09/2010 18:16

KSal - think you might like to have a quick look at our facebook group discussions :).

Can't see a problem with pickled onions other than wind!

Onions are the one food I do not like even a little tiny bit. I don't worry so much about salt now. I mean, we're very low-salt eaters anyway and watch for it in a normal way, so now that Q is nearly 2, we just try to make sure he has even less than us, but don't worry over it like we did when he was less than 1.

Congrats on a nice party, pistachio :) I can't wait to meet you next Sunday!!

pepperrabbit · 11/09/2010 19:34

Everything in moderation, is my motto for food. except chocolate and wine for me of course!
Hope you feel better tomorrow morning pistachio - or will a 30th set you right back!
I have my younger sisters 40th in 2 weeks, I feel mega, dinosaur old Sad.
(There's a very small gap BTW....)Biscuit

Ksal do you have to be in the hospital overnight? How frightening. :(

KSal · 12/09/2010 08:10

Star, its a case of going in every other day for about 5 hours to have blood test, monitoring of the baby and urine test. so far this time no overnight stay, but i had to last time so i'm prepared for it. just really don't want baby to come too early, so whatever it takes really... want to avoid long postnatal stay in hospital again... also want this baby to want to feed! its getting closer and i'm trying not to stress about it, which is not in my nature and part of the problem!

have now checked FB

I bought DD some very pretty new trousers yesterday ( in Asda)and she's been wearing them for a good 15 minutes now - and they've fallen down twice Hmm. They're size 12/18 months! Have to put them away for her to grow into. Somedays i think she's getting smaller not bigger Confused.

How are you feeling today pistachio?
That's a good point about the waist size - DS2 wears shorts permanently and some of his are years old - he's beginning to look like the 118 advert men in one pair Grin but most are fine just not knee length anymore!

StarExpat · 12/09/2010 13:27

Lol I roll up bigger sizes to fit Q's waist! Well, now he's a bit more normal and not so wide so not so much of a problem, but previously we were constantly unbuttoning the top button! Grin

Coconutfeet · 12/09/2010 14:00

Lovely pictures Pistachio.

KSal - I had to do that whole hospital monitoring thing several times a week when I was pregnant. It's such a pain isn't it. I didn't have to do any overnighters though and really hope that you can avoid that this time. What's your due date?

Happy belated birthday Joe!

I'm really annoyed with the staff at my local Clarks. They've managed to measure S's feet incorrectly 3 times now. It's such a pain becuase they never have many shoes in his size in stock so you have to get his feet measured then order them online to be delivered to the store. I finally had to drive to a bit out of town store to get some decent service.

CSWS - I saw you fb update about the mouse. Arggh. I'm so glad that wasn't me. Ours is getting really bold now, popping out when I'm sitting in the kitchen, cheeky bugger.

StarExpat · 12/09/2010 14:13

You should try that shoesforkids website. You can search by size and there are a lot of clarks shoes on there. :) and loads cheaper!

KSal · 12/09/2010 16:36

i have funny sizing issues with Emma too, she is slim, and tall, but with a long body rather than long legs, so i have been both rolling up and tucking at the waist! trousers in her age group are just wrong... maybe i should stick her in skirts but trousers seem so much more pratical for nursery!

Emma came a bit early (at 36+4) but we don't know why. I only ever had just the high BP, which is what it seems to be this time.... but the hospital continually check for other pre-eclampsia symptoms just in case, which makes sense i guess. We have decided to go ahead with the birthday party and if am in hospital again DH will just have to cope on his own :)

not due til the 13th October.... which will drag a lot if i am spending loads of time in hospital... ho hum!

50ftQueenie · 12/09/2010 18:41

M is the opposite KSal. She has really long legs and a short body. She can still wear 9-12 month t-shirts but 18-24 month trousers are too short. She is another one who gets taller but not wider. In fact her hips and waist have each got an inch smaller over the past few months. Hope the blood pressure issue settles down or they are satisfied that it's ok enough that they don't keep dragging you into hospital.

Star - I had a look on that site too. Nothing for M but then she has a really common foot size. Grin My DS was a very similar build to Q at this age too.

Pistachio - That is so sweet of your dd. DS has always been the same, very grateful for all his presents.

M has been helping to choose her own birthday presents which has ben fun. I am really looking forward to her birthday this year. I am hoping she'll have a bit of an idea that it's all about her. As long as there is cake she'll be happy.

Coconutfeet · 12/09/2010 21:03

I did have a look at that site Star - It's good but the issue I had was finding out what size he actually was, so I would know what size to get. I was told 3 different sizes in the space of a few days by different members of staff. Rubbish!

StarExpat · 12/09/2010 21:38

That is rubbish! We were so ecstatic when he moved from an H to a G! Because H were impossible to find. But we did notice his feet were less chubby lately :)

50ft I don't think Q gets it. He'll like the cake and he'll enjoy whatever gift he gets but I don't think he really gets it. We'll make a big fuss over him all day, though and have a lovely family day out spoiling him with attention and giving him what he wants, though :)

Ekka · 12/09/2010 22:32

Hi all, I've been trying to catch up with everything since we went away, but have managed to forget most of what I read.

Hi Loulou, nice to 'see' you again.

Hmm, congratulations, great news.

Pepper, sorry you had such a rough trip home, you must have been going spare. Hope that the holiday was worth it though!

Ok, so I can't remember anything else Blush we need a [useless] emoticon!

Birthday wise we will probably do ds a party just because dd has decided he is going to have a jungle party Confused. But it will mainly be dd's friends as he doesn't have any separate friends right now poor little chap. Not sure what we're going to get him for presents mind you!

Dh's back is still really messed up, he has a specialists appt on Tuesday and hopefully will get an MRI and a better idea of whats wrong. He is on all sorts of strong drugs at the moment which really freaks me out, so I'm hoping that we can start to get some improvement rather than just painkilling medicines to mask the problem.

loulou33 · 13/09/2010 21:48

Hiya ekka - sorry to hear about DH's back, hope the MRI tells you something. Joe's party involved 3 his age and 5 older kids - he had a ball with all the older ones fortunataly, although one child complained that we were not doing party games Shock can't please everyone!! we bought Joe the WOW building toys. he loves the WOW stuff and has lots of them already...too much choice out there though

Went to in the night garden live for Joe's birthday, was worried that DS1 would be bored at 4 1/2 but he loved it as much as Joe. was very well done and not too much tat for sale and the stuff wasn't too expensive and is still working three days on. Joe is still singing happy birthday to himself, bless...

pistachio - DS2 loves bright shiny shoes too, in fact last time I just ordered what ever they had in bright red! I think the assistant thought I was being over indulgent (not that it's any of her business Hmm) but I figure, he's 4, what's the harm in having shoes he likes?!
ekka - hope the MRI helps - do you have wait long?

StarExpat · 14/09/2010 05:49

Aw bless ds' and their desire for brighter shoes!
Q has shoes with lions on them that are orange and green and loves his "roar shoes".
