You have elected as an MP to stand in the UK&NI parliament a person who said in a panel interview with Annabel Tiffin from BBC Northwest Tonight that the Manchester Arena bombing was caused by people sewing division by questioning immigration.

That statement is so outrageous I don't even know where to start.

The Greens have also said they want a brothel on each high street and a deal with Mexican drug cartels to get drugs for all here. And lessons fir children on how to take drugs.
I can't believe that anyone normal would agree with this.

😂😂 lessons for children on how to take drugs

I despair, some people really will believe anything!

People should be very frightened about what is happening in this country. There's no turning back now. Great Britain will never be great again.

You know the Great in Great Britain refers to the size right? Like in Greater Manchester. Britain has pretty much the same greatness it has had for the last 100 years.

It'll be like IT lessons when I was a teenager where the teacher doesn't know as much as the nerdier kids and it's all a bit of a doss.
Imagine the teacher trying and failing to get the crack pipe to work so you spend the lesson practicing rolling spliffs for the umpteenth time.

Actually teaching kids to do drugs in schools could be quite a good way to put them of it.

As the saying goes: Britain may be Great but Manchester is greater.

I think we can we can all agree on one thing. The state of British politics has never been so low. Lets hope the only way is up. We deserve better.

And, @BrendaThePoodle if you want to look at racism and hatred look at the British Jewish community and the shit they have always have. Mosques don't need security guards and neither do muslim schools. But British Jews have not gone on terrorist sprees because of the racism they face.

Muslim terrorism is born from Muslim communities. No one else is responsible for it but Islamists.

Muslim schools and mosques do have security, partially funded by government, just as Jewish schools and synagogues do.

And the greatest proportion of hate crime incidents are towards Muslim people and religious sites. The second highest proportion is against Jewish people and religious sites.

Out of interest why did you and your wife go to the same booth?

By accident. There were only 2 in the church and I went right and she followed me but before we happened to get in we were stopped

to be fair they aren’t booths. Its a table with a breaker in the middle

DanNW2025 · 28/02/2026 21:30

soddingspiderseason · 28/02/2026 18:11

So the polling station staff intervened when you and your wife were engaged in family voting but did nothing when others were doing the same? I find that hard to believe to be honest. If you witnessed family voting (apart from your own) whilst in the polling station, why didn’t you raise it with polling staff discretely?

As previously mentioned. We both went to the right and were stopped

re family voting. Given my relative knowledge on politics etc I didn’t realise this was a thing until we left and I saw the reports in the morning

in future I absolutely will be calling it out knowing what our area is like

Well, if she made a mistake and you accept that, why do you assume (as your other post seemed to) that the other people you say you saw were doing it for nefarious purposes and not also just making a mistake? I still think it's bad if the staff weren't stopping them. I think if there are reports of this happening then there needs to be more training for staff and maybe a better setup of the booths. The process of democracy matters. But it wouldn't have made a difference to the result in this case as the actual margins were so high.

I guess if you want to give your wife grace and assume she wasn't planning to force you to tick the Green box, you should also give the other family you saw grace and not assume the wife/husband was desperate to vote Reform but made to vote Green by their spouse.

BrendaThePoodle · 28/02/2026 10:02

I think if you consider the absolute hatred Muslims get just for being Muslim, the verbal, physical and online abuse they receive simply for daring to exist then we should honestly be concerned about young people being radicalised. I think back to the lovely young Muslim boy in my school who was verbally abused/punched/spat on and bullied so horrifically that Im not sure that (unlike him) I’d have become a functional and useful member of society. I think I’d have in some way been very easily manipulated into believing that the people who bullied me deserved retaliation. If we don’t treat people with dignity because of their beliefs or let’s be honest, skin colour, then we are going to suffer the consequences of easily radicalised people seeking revenge.
If we treat people respectfully and not with hatred because they’re not white, then we have less risk of kids being manipulated into radicalisation.
I can’t believe this is a controversial take, if you make life shit for people who simply want to exist, if they’re bullied and shunned from society for being different, then it ends badly.

A young butcher from a halal butcher on tiktok is doing the absolute most to prove how well his family have integrated into society. They are kind, charitable, celebrate Christmas, couldn’t do more to be decent society members. The abuse he gets from plebends that haven’t ever given anything to society but dealt weed to teenagers is shocking.

Maybe Britain needs more love and acceptance and less division to combat the current shit show.
I’ve voted green on and off since I turned 18, loved Caroline Lucas and I love Zach. Let’s be real, most people are politically homeless.

We have been dragged into wars/CoL/NHS failure. Why not try a different approach? I’d rather be taxed highly and have services I can use. I’d rather housing wasn’t a fucking luxury. Food and heat weren’t. Im sorry if your taxes are going to rise, but ultimately, like is said of the working classes also, you’ve had it too good for to long.

Absolutely this!! Thank you BrendaThePoodle

did You hear the reform candidates graceless speech about losing because of islamists ? Ugh what a relief they didn’t win . I’m scared of their idea about what makes Britain ‘great’ . Flag shagging misogynistic thick twats!

You think Matt Goodwin is thick? He’s a literal Academic. I’m sure that fact really annoys you

To be honest, it’s probably one of the main reasons he didn’t win. He’s too middle class and well spoken for your average Gorton & Denton voter. They probably needed someone a bit more working class to resonate with

People don’t care or have forgotten. In NY 9/11 is now an irrelevance to many.

At the time of the Manchester bombing someone posted on here that their sympathy lay equally with the bomber and his family.

Wow !

Do you mean 7 different couples? Or 7 people all in the same group? That sort of makes me wonder how they all fit and is probably an argument for booths rather than just dividers.
You said yourself, you didn't realise family voting was a thing until you got home. So maybe, just maybe, the other people you saw also didn't realise? Why assume based on "what the area is like" that there must have been something sinister happening. What is it about the area?
I do think that the process of voting matters and any possibility of bad practice should be prevented even if (as in this case) the voting margins aren't narrow enough for it to have affected the vote. In the future there should be:

  • better training of election officers
  • more awareness raising (posters in polling stations) that everyone must go into the booths alone
  • actual booths rather than the weird setup your station had. Since 7 people wouldn't fit in a booth. Thats why they are like that.

But I find the assumption the other people you saw must have known family voting was bad and been doing it on purpose when you admit you didn't quite unfair.

I see that the Green victor has a property portfolio worth over a million quid and is no stranger to a second home

the sheer hypocrisy of these people

Lots of us ‘own’ homes worth a lot of money, but we share that ownership with the mortgage lender!

By the sounds of it she had a house with her former partner and then they’ve bought a wreck to renovate. I’m not a fan of owning a second home for holidays in places where locals then struggle to buy or even rent. But I don’t get the impression that’s what’s happening here. Do you know better?

Or, next time, cardboard voting booths with three sides and maybe even a little curtain. Plus a sign with a picture of one person in the booth with a tick/smiley face and another picture of 2 people in a booth with a cross/ sad face.

I just think that would be less bother than a civil war.
