You have elected as an MP to stand in the UK&NI parliament a person who said in a panel interview with Annabel Tiffin from BBC Northwest Tonight that the Manchester Arena bombing was caused by people sewing division by questioning immigration.

That statement is so outrageous I don't even know where to start.

yes!

Great, well congratulations on your achievements which are significantly greater than any individual minister!

Being in a partnership heading up a team, driving forward a result like the Horizon Act isn't an achievement? 16 other ministers tried and failed, but ok.

Heading Up?
But that’s one example, and it’s a bit weak considering she was a minister for quite a while. ‘Gets things done’ was the claim. Nothing got done on the Jay report, did it? When she actually headed the responsible team?

What makes you think that Kemi Badenoch was head of the responsible team tasked with implementing recommendations from the Jay report? Aside from her role as Education Secretary how is Bridget Phillipson leading on this now?

She was Women and Equalities minister, wasn’t she? I’d have expected her to have done something with it - wouldn’t you?

Edited

Not unless it was in her brief - it's not obvious here:

Ministerial role
Minister for Women and Equalities

The Minister for Women and Equalities has responsibility for:

  • promoting equality of opportunity for everyone, and reducing negative disparities
  • strategic oversight of the government’s equality policy, for women, ethnicity, disability and LGBT+
  • overall sponsorship of the Social Mobility Commission and Equality and Human Rights Commission
  • overview of the overarching equalities legislative framework

Current role holder
The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP

For goodness sakes this motto of “ making Britain great again “ is ridiculous. We aren’t getting our Common wealth back, and rightly so. It’s just a motto, to appeal to those that can’t make an effort to sort their own lives out. My life isn’t perfect, but it comfortable enough. However, I make every effort to improve those parts I can. It only appeals to the lazy and careless, that think they are getting something for nothing.

I’d say acting on sexual abuse advice would fit in there. Not quite sure why you keep on about the current post holder.

DuncinToffee · 02/03/2026 16:14

Badenoch's hands were tied when in government and she only found her voice once on the opposition benches?

Instead, I would look to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls)/previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Safeguarding) - Home Office/Ministry of Justice:

I think that's pretty obvious - I want to know if we can blame current failings on Bridget Phillipson or some other minister.

Nobody will stop you.

There is even a dedicted thread for it.

You clearly a) don't understand addiction b) are rather confused about Hannah Spencer's powers as a newly elected MP.

They want all ‘A’ class drugs declassified. I hope that helps.

Given there are still only five Green MPs, how likely do you think that is?

This statement of fact demonstrates the appeal of Reform to the majority of voters in the constituency. More than two-thirds of the electorate rejected Reform. Yet the minority Reform-minded voters are accusing the majority of Progressive/Centre voters of divisive politics. Despite being outnumbered two to one at the ballot box. Hilarious.

Didn't Starmer/Labour only get about 32% in the last general election, yet won a stonking majority?

In a coalition, which looks increasingly likely, even a small number of Green MPs could have a disproportional influence on governmental decisions.

Hmm. I think you only need to look at the 2010-2015 coalition to see how much real influence the minority coalition partners have.

Indeed. The LibDems certainly didn’t temper the lust for decimating public services.

The Libdems were directly responsible for some very damaging and illogical tax changes as part of their "horse trading" to support some of the Tory policies.

That's a false equivalence - in Gorton and Denton, the Greens and Labour pulled in 65% of the votes between them.
