…..disappointed and angry right now? I’m still, and always will be, a Labour supporter-it’s the party that most closely aligns with my political, philosophical and moral beliefs. But bloody hell, surely the least we can expect is basic competence?

I’m more disappointed and angry as to how the press are constantly having a go.

Theyve inherited a nightmare. And there are continuing problems.

Im sick of Farages face and im sick of the press sticking the boot in.

Yes. This current version are Tories under a red flag.

This. Yesterday's DM headlines were ridiculous. After all the years they spent calling lefties shrill, rabid, hysterical snowflakes they are proving themselves just that.

rockstarshoes · 05/09/2025 12:05

Yep I am! Not so much with their policies although the removal & then reinstatement of the Winter fuel allowance was an absolute dog’s dinner but their communication is awful and the latest Angela Rayner debacle has me shouting at the TV!

They are way behind in the polls, all the press talks about is the state of the Economy & impending tax rises, she has herself been very vocal about other people’s tax situations & that the opposition would love to take her down. How could she have been so fucking stupid!

yeah she’s busy, she has a ‘Big job’ and a complicated divorce so do millions of other people who manage to pay an accountant to sort out their tax affairs if they are too busy to do it themselves!

Westfacing · 05/09/2025 12:14

I'm so bloody angry, in fact I'm done with the Labour Party.

Rayner could have achieved so much and it was great to have a real working class woman in such a position - I think she was stupid not to realise she would be found out to be a big hypocrite, regardless of the tax laws.

I was angry with that oaf in Runcorn who paved the way for the huge Reform propaganda win that brought Pochin to the Commons.

Starmer has been a huge disappointment to say the least.

Yes, I'm angry!

hattie43 · 05/09/2025 12:26

A complete own goal . She’s a tax dodger .

Summerhillsquare · 05/09/2025 13:06

No, I knew they would be up against it all round. I was expecting worse personal attacks actually.

The progess on climate action is astonishingly quick, miliband and others are highly competent. Likewise planning reform.

Also good to see us standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, whilst somehow still managing to get a better trade deal with the US. (I'm old enough to remember bojo insulting everyone).

Summerhillsquare · 05/09/2025 13:07

Oh and if you are so inclined, overall immigration is down massively in just one year , and the backlog of asylum applications is much reduced.

rockstarshoes · 05/09/2025 14:56

Well she has resigned & I think that’s the right thing for her to do!
Onwards & Upwards!

Why? Do you want the opposition and press to praise The Great Job Labour are doing? Farage disagrees with most of Labour's policies. And the press need to report the truth. Ie Labour are failing.

Teanbiscuits33 · 05/09/2025 18:45

I’m really disappointed, too. I knew nothing was going to change overnight and I knew the right wing press were hardly going to report on much good that’s being done but i just think Starmer comes across as a weak and ineffectual leader who keeps going whichever way the wind blows.

I thought he would have been more principled, level headed PM rather than flip flopping and pandering to reform voters. That’s what’s annoying me most! It’s playing right into their hands needlessly.

Why would the right wing press praise them?

We hear nothing about improving working conditions, trying to get on top of the railways after the Tories decimated them, building new reservoirs.

All we hear is how shit they are.

Well where did the shit come from?

mugglewump · 05/09/2025 22:54

I feel really sad that Angela Rayner has resigned. Loads of Tory minsters did far worse (think Jeremy Hunt forgetting he owned 7 let flats to the tax man) and they were not forced out because the media is so Tory biased. But the tabloid press and the BBC loath Angela Rayner and have had a witch hunt over her for years, not to mention the hate crimes she receives over social media. I'm not surprised she has caved in under all that hate.

PropertyD · 05/09/2025 23:02

AR hasn’t caved in. She made a big mistake around how many houses she owed as HOUSING MINISTER.

She then tried to throw a small family owed company under the bus by saying their advice to her he been wrong.

I think she was always going to have to resign but agree about Jeremy Hunt. He admitted not following money laundering regulations brought in by the government he was in the cabinet of, and blamed his accountant. I don’t remember that bloody resignation, in fact he was promoted to foreign secretary a couple of months after the story - why wasn’t he criticised for not going above and beyond to ensure he was fully compliant?

(There’s no suggestion he actually laundered money. But he didn’t follow the rules)

Yep. This.

Six o clock news the other day was all negative then 3/4 of the way through the broadcast Rita Chakrabati reeled off the fact England had 30 free hours of childcare, Wales teenagers had £1 buses and Scotland had scrapped peak rail fares.
Just half a minute dedicated to all that positivity. It was weird.

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 05/09/2025 23:14

Very disappointed I want a stable Labour Government to turn it around and shut that oily git Farage up.
Him saying that the UK was like N.Korea if that was the case he wouldn't have been able to jet off to America to suck off Orangina.

Lonelycrab · 05/09/2025 23:14

No not particularly.

She messed up and has had the decency to resign.

Let’s remember that never ever happened once in the last decade+ of Tory government.

But none of that is caused by the current Labour government.

The Tories brought in the 30 hours of childcare and transport is devolved.

Thank you, Conservatives!

No, the shit came from 15 years of the Conservatives running everything into the ground.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 05/09/2025 23:41

I'm more disappointed than angry. I'm a lifelong supporter and member of the Labour Party so want them to succeed. 14 years of Tories has been tough so it's going to be a long, hard slog to put things right. I just want them pull their fingers out!
Labour supporters have to face reality, welfare costs are killing our economy and like it or not, it has to be sorted. We need those who are able, to work, and we must provide the assistance to enable it. We also need the rich to pay their fair share and feel proud to do so.
