Preferably in this country (UK) but could be international. One person who seems inspiring, hard working, well intentioned, pioneering or any other characteristic you admire.

Andy Burnham, he seems to talk sense.

Itsnottheheatitsthehumidity · 12/09/2025 13:49

Rosie Duffield.

I’m watching Zack Polanski too. Let’s see how he gets on.

SaidAHipHopTheHippieToTheHippie · 13/09/2025 09:36

Why not listen to his politics?

No. He sounded stupid. He said that Farage was far right (incorrect) and head of a fringe party, trying to dismiss him. Reform don't have many MPs but they aren't fringe as they have a significant lead in the polls and set the political agenda. Thats simple.fact. I suppose his comments therfore were for US ears but I'm not American, so....

I think Farage has admitted he is far right, and his policies most certainly are the most right we have ever had in politics. Given that his party is only a couple of years old and Reform has 0.7% of the seats in parliament, that is pretty fringe by any definition

zazazaaar · 05/11/2025 23:48

Ive worked on projects with Andy Burnham. He is a clear thinking man. Obviously not perfect (who is) but I like his attitude towards community ownership and power.

Ed Davies and Wes Streeting

Ed Davies??? He spends half his life doing ridiculous publicity stunts, like some hapless shadow cabinet member from The Thick of It. I find him so embarrassing and depressing. If the Lib Dems were a genuinely viable alternative, maybe fewer people would turn to Farage and his odious ilk.

Wes Streeting sounds human and intelligent which is rare for any politician these days, when most have been trained to be soundbite bots.

At least he has been very honest that being a twat is the only way the media ever report on LD, despite having a bigger chunk of the vote than Reform. They love Farage on BBC so much I think a university actually took them to Court for not reporting on any of the LD policies but constantly having Farage's mug up for tiny things. It's the only way he can be seen.

Treximpression · 06/11/2025 03:17

“Reform and the Conservatives will probably do a pact for the sake of the country.”

Yes, they definitely come across as country before party before selves (in some parallel universe).

BeatleHorn · 06/11/2025 03:25

Frank Field, though now gone and done, was a politician who did good.

He was an admirable man.

Farage has never said he is "far right "(whatever that means these days. No one really knows). Which Reform policies are "far right"? Because on the economy for example he's sounding a bit lefty....

And the current number of MPs reflect the pre election erroneous assumption that Labour couldn't be worse than the Conservatives. That wont be the case in 2029 and looking at the polls Reform will benefit from the disappointment in the two main parties. Only a fool would consider them "fringe". They are currently setting the political narrative and Labour are treating them as the Opposition.

cityanalyst678 · 06/11/2025 07:16

Nope

Tiredofwhataboutery · 06/11/2025 07:16

I quite like Bernie Sanders.

Contemporaneouslyagog · 06/11/2025 09:10

Kemi Badenoch, she's intelligent and quick with morals and knows what a woman is. Rebecca Paul Tory MP, she's trying to get men out of Downview the women's prison in her constituency . Wes Streeting. Although he's going quiet on women's issues recently.

Far right/right.

Privatising health care
Reducing minimum wage for young people.
Pretending anxiety and depression don’t exist for the purpose of benefits
Xenophobia

StandFirm · 06/11/2025 13:49

Badenoch? No way. She said she would create an ICE-like force here.

THIS is what immigration control looks like in the US right now, a complete disgrace! https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/05/los-angeles-immigration-agents-toddler

The last two are subjective opinions

Something needs to be done about the NHS. We are currently a health service with a small country attached.

Can you expand on the minimum wage reduction? What age does the reduction apply to and by how much.

Marmalade71 · 06/11/2025 14:45

There’s probably only one that I’m broadly aligned with politically and who is also an impressive person and communicator - Ruth Davidson. Unfortunately now in the House of Lords.

More broadly I’ve a lot of time for:
Rosie Duffield
Shabana Mahmood
Jeremy Hunt
David Davis

Hiptothisjive · 06/11/2025 14:45

No not one in the UK. Not too upset with Mark Carney so far (Yeah not UK politician but was Governor of the Bank of England before PM Canada so maybe that counts a little bit?).

No they aren’t.

Farage has said he’d withdraw any benefits for those with anxiety and depression.

As for xenophobia. How obvious does it have to be? I mean come on!

This has all been in the news in the last week. How come you don’t know about it, yet think they are left wing?Confused
