Preferably in this country (UK) but could be international. One person who seems inspiring, hard working, well intentioned, pioneering or any other characteristic you admire.

No. He sounded stupid. He said that Farage was far right (incorrect) and head of a fringe party, trying to dismiss him. Reform don't have many MPs but they aren't fringe as they have a significant lead in the polls and set the political agenda. Thats simple.fact. I suppose his comments therfore were for US ears but I'm not American, so....

He sounded extremely intelligent and articulate.

And showed Farage exactly what he is.

Look at the last Yougov polls. Despite Farage taking up all the air time on the media the majority of the country don’t like him, rate him or want him. And if it was a head to head between him and labour, Labour would win.

Wes Streeting is an awful bully. Have you not read his comments on Twitter? Threatening to break people’s legs and wishing violence on others. I’m surprised he’s not been arrested and charged.

I don’t go on Musks crappy toy.

Well we will see at the next election which will probably be sooner than 2029 as Rachel Reeves looks like she's about to crash the economy. But Labour won't win. Reform and the Conservatives will probably do a pact for the sake of the country.

FiveFoxes · 05/09/2025 08:00

Caroline Lucas. Truly inspiring and in politics for the right reasons. I miss her.

Do you think that somehow makes Streeting’s violent threats disappear?

Fleetheart · 05/09/2025 08:03

Daisy Cooper is our MP. She is hardworking, sensible and has integrity.

Let’s hope it’s a pact of labour, lib dems and greens. we certainly don’t want any of those others in charge. Look what happened last time. I don’t get why people say it’s Rachel Reeves messing up the economy- surely it’s the heritage of the Cons and Brexit which has done that? the legacy of debt from the last government will take years to recover from.

MushMonster · 05/09/2025 08:07

LOL
Nope

Fizzer5 · 05/09/2025 08:08

Margaret Hodge was extremely good with that committee she chaired.
Robert Jenrick

RampantIvy · 05/09/2025 08:09

Unfortunately few of Labour seem to be from that background

Why is it "unfortunate" that few Labour politicians went to public schools?

Do you really think there is the remotest possibility of a Labour led government after 2029?

I’m afraid that’s the stuff of fantasy.

You asked me if l’d read them though. I haven’t because l don’t go on Twitter.

I genuinely like Angela Raynor.

me too!

SpottyAardvark · 05/09/2025 08:11

Nigel Farage.

Not because I agree with his policies; I voted Remain & won’t be voting for Reform. In my view Brexit has been a disaster for the U.K. and for Europe.

But because of the way he has almost single-handedly moved the Overton window, given a voice to the views of millions of ordinary working class people & changed British politics. And done this while maintaining a place in legitimate mainstream politics. His political skill is remarkable and he is already the most influential British politician since Thatcher. If he wins the next election & becomes PM it would be a historic moment.

Enko · 05/09/2025 08:11

Im going to say Mette Frederiksen. Danish pm. Though admire may be a touch high

Im UK i have had direct dealings with Tom
Tugendhat and while I am not conservative he has a good way to present himself. And was a remainer for EU I believe he will stand for leadership again one day. I think he would have been better than Liz Truss.

What mechanism are you imagining will lead to an early election?

Labour aren’t that stupid - they won’t massively fuck up and then call an election. And no one else can.

DryAndBalmy · 05/09/2025 08:15

Wes Streeting. I believe him to be a good, decent man who genuinely wants to do right and make things better.

My sadness about him is that he’s just come up through the student hack route and has no proper experience of working in business.

But I honestly believe his heart is good and that he is sensible and well-intentioned.

DryAndBalmy · 05/09/2025 08:18

Rosie Duffield! Voice of sanity in the trans debate, despite being treated abominably by Labour. She’s a heroine.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 05/09/2025 08:10

Does your view of him change now that you know he has a history of threatening violence?

itsachickeninnit · 05/09/2025 08:18

Wes Streeting, just for being a realist.

verycloakanddaggers · 05/09/2025 08:19

I think people are asking to be disappointed calling for 'inspiring'. But we should be able to aspire to 'hard working, thoughtful, has integrity'.

There are loads of backbenchers who do work very hard. Some good people can't rise through the ranks because they have personal principles they won't compromise.

The electorate is ultimately in charge.

How many good and decent men do you know who threaten to assault and harm others?

This would be front page news if it was really happening.

MinnieCauldwell · 05/09/2025 08:25

Rosie Duffield, treated appallingly by Labour. She was threatened and they refused to stand by her. I will never forgive Labour and KS for that.
