Preferably in this country (UK) but could be international. One person who seems inspiring, hard working, well intentioned, pioneering or any other characteristic you admire.

Simon Opher, MP for Stroud. He is a GP and very pro active on NHS change. He has also spoken out against policies he does not agree with. All that and a lovely friendly person too.

Angela Rayner

The house Rayner sold was heavily overvalued. She then sold her share to her disabled son's trust fund and used the cash to help buy her new house. If the son sold up, he'd get less for it because it was over valued. So not only dodged her tax bill, but stitched up her own son as well. The trust fund came from compensation she got for him by suing the NHS.

That woman should be in jail.

I genuinely like Farage most of the time and the leader of the lib dems is beginning to seem ok

MrsMac48 · 08/09/2025 14:07

Rupert Lowe..I wish he was my MP

WellThisIsFranklyDreadful · 08/09/2025 14:14

AOC and Gavin Newsom

Genuinely playing devils advocate by putting Donald Trump forward.

Is it not refreshing to see a politician be incredibly vocal about what they’re going to do on their election campaign and then actually follow through with getting it done?

For the record I think he’s abhorrent and one of the few people who should NOT be doing all the crazy shit he promised. But it’s a different take on what should/should not be admired. At the end of the day he’s doing exactly what his voters want him to do which is something our Labour Party have failed to achieve

guernseydonkey · 08/09/2025 16:12

I can name quite a few locally I admire- from the States of Guernsey- but I can't think of any in the UK. Ed Davey, perhaps, as while I certainly don't agree with him on anything he comes across as good-natured and community-minded.

He's one very big pile of turd. "I'll stop the war in Ukraine on day one". "Maybe I'll just walk away from it, it's not my war". Saying Zelenksy started the war 😯Seriously?

Oblomov25 · 08/09/2025 20:27

Can't think of a single one.
Isn't New Zealand's female PM supposed to be decent?

Persononwater · 08/09/2025 23:16

Bridget Phillipson always seems to speak sensibly and calmly when interviewed.
She appears on top of her education portfolio and will do the right thing apropos the EHRC recommendations.

She's a spiteful.destroyer of the lives of children that live in the UK (ie children she is responsible for, even if they used to go to private school). She's also attacking for idealogical the reforms made in education that have raised England significantly in the world league tables. This will lower the life chances of children in the UK. She can't see the wood for the trees. She's the most immoral person in government at the moment.

Summerhillsquare · 09/09/2025 18:12

Ed Miliband.

JennyForeigner · 09/09/2025 19:27

Alf Dubs, but obviously, that's cheating.

About a third of the Lords actually. Still want to get rid of it, but there are some hella-impressive people in there.

6thformoptions · 09/09/2025 19:36

I know this won't be a popular choice but Jess Phillips. I know she would absolutely hate me because my kid goes to private school, but I really like how bold she is. Even that she is a bit annoyingly so at times. I think she has charisma and I do think she believes she will make a difference and is determined to try her best. Women and girls need a strong force in their corner. Ironically if girls had single sex state schools that weren't grammars in my county I wouldn't have needed to pay for private, so maybe she'd like to have a look at why there are so many single sex options for boys and not girls...?

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/09/2025 11:21

She is an absolute wally.

She is an absolute wally.

She recounts all the women murdered by their husbands in the HoC every year.

How can ‘wally’ be applied to someone who does this? With such serious intent.

In what ways is Jess Philips a “wally”?

Ihateboris · 12/09/2025 12:45

Let me think 🤔....it could take some time...

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 12/09/2025 12:47

Andy Burnham

Edited

She wouldn’t hate you for using private school. She would, I imagine, have an issue with you saying you “needed to”.

Hopefully she would actually ask me about it though, rather than assuming she knew my choices and situation better than I do.

If there were no need for single sex schooling I feel it odd that boys get so many free options for it.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 12/09/2025 12:58

Tonia Antoniazzi.

yellowspanner · 12/09/2025 13:06

Nigel Farage

Youcallisimportant · 12/09/2025 13:09

No longer a politician sadly but I have a lot of time for Rory Stewart.
