Unbelievable (but not unexpected).

I saw the woman to his left clapping like a demented sealion and laughing. She had the grace to look a bit shocked when he came out with his diatribe but later on, both her and the woman behind both denied they heard him say what he said. Have these 'fascists ' who supposedly put razor blades in leaflets been found? Has Jones got proof it happened? This piece of information , which supposedly made him say what he said has never been verified. Is there only his word for it?

It was said in court that Jones had been sent images of National Front stickers on trains which had razor blades concealed inside them. I imagine the images were shown in court.

Imagine not know. People won’t know but repeat the below.

People who attended the court hearing will know

I could show a photo of a leaflet with a razor blade stuck onto it if I wanted to and do could you. It strikes me as odd that was the reason he gave for his outburst and , yet, there's no actual proof that these leaflets existed or were sent by the NF.

I wasn't in the court but I would think the prosecution would have challenged that if there was no evidence. If there was no evidence and it wasn't challenged that is on the CPS now the jury/the police/the judge.

The reality is some lawyers are better than others, some are possibly at the top of their game and some might be having an off day. You can't really legislate for that.

Well something caused the jury to decide that the bar for conviction had not been met.

Personally I am not a massive fan of defences around provocation. No matter how grievous and offensive a person chooses to find expressed ideas, they don't get to go around lamping people.

I am sure a lot of people reading this thread will have heard of the whine "Look what you made me do" if they haven't actually heard it themselves.

Are you certain there's no evidence they exist? Do you think the jury took his word for it?

I've no idea. I'd be interested if anyone has actual proof. TBF it's not been mentioned in the few bits I've read about the verdict and seeing as that was given as RJs main reason for his outburst I'd have thought there would be more explanation of how and when these photos came into Jones' possession.

@Lucyintheskywithdiamonnds Either way, I suspect few who hear about these two cases will care very much about distinctions like guilty and not guilty pleas. Most will simply compare the two ‘offences’ with the respective punishments doled out, and judge for themselves.

And all that proves is that most people appear to be fucking idiots with an inability to understand basic facts.Which in all honesty comes as no surprise. I do sometimes wonder if universal suffrage is actually such a good idea. Perhaps since people have to pass a test on Britishness to become a citizen (a test which most people born in Britain cannot pass), perhaps there should be a test for voting? We could apply the same test for sitting on a jury perhaps? That way only people who are able to apply logic to basic facts would be able to vote or sit on juries.

Of course the flaw with that would be that since half of MN cannot understand the difference between "guilty" and "not guilty", pretty much nobody on this site would be allowed to vote. On the other hand, maybe not so much of a flaw after all.

Well what a lot of supercilious bilge 🤢

Lucyintheskywithdiamonnds · 16/08/2025 19:29

No one I asked earlier, answered my question. Not one of them. I asked what they saw when they saw Ricky Jones inciting slitting other people’s throats. Shocker. Silence. Fcking hypocritical champagne socialists, always.

I did. Jones was found not guilty by the way.

two tier justice. in the sense that he had the experience and wisdom of expensive solicitors who knew that tàking a chance on the jury ws the clever play where poir Lucy got the duty solicitor who was probably looking for the quickest/easiest way to settle the case.

Lucy Connelly??? Who admitted her guilt. What rubbish you speak.

We didn't find him not guilty, a jury did that and that is how justice works, she didn't get a jury decision because she didn't go to trial as she admitted what she did.

Stickers not leaflets. Public were warned about them by the police.

I doubt anyone had heard of Connelly until her post, infact I doubt many people would have followed her.
Why was her post so high profile? I’m sure lots of people say lots of stupid / racist comments on social media everyday, infact I could go on Twitter now and find comments that are of a similar type.

A councillors wife hardly makes her a celebrity..

Southern25 · 16/08/2025 21:32

Does anyone else think that Connelly might actually make lots of money now? I kind of hope she does , just to kick Labour in the teeth !

Also is Ricky Jones’ career and reputation finished now ? Horrible, vile man that he is

Why is Connolly a hero and Jones vile?

Im not saying Connelly is a hero, infact she isn’t. What makes her a hero?
Jones is a horrible vile man because of what he said. He was a serving councillor, someone paid the taxpayer. Surely his behaviour should be scrutinised and should set a good example? What about his public conduct?

How can anyone vote Jones in again?

Connelly was married to a councillor, she wasn’t one herself.
