Why do people like reform?

I haven't been keeping very up to date with politics. I usually vote Labour. I don't really understand the popularity of reform, could anyone explain it to me?
As far as I'm aware Farage doesn't actually do anything when he wins a seat somewhere so I'm not convinced they'll actually do anything? Is it just a protest vote that's gone a bit far?

You are definitely wasting your time on the permanently offended, right wing ragers!

You’ll be thrilled at your left wing leader’s announcement then?

I mean it won’t make the much a difference without being out the ECHR, but interesting to see people lead by Keir comment.

BIossomtoes · 12/05/2025 10:31

What left wing leader? There isn’t one. Just Tory lite.

So similar to the permanently offended left wing ragers.

The thing is old socialists like George Galloway are dead against immigration to exploit to poor British and keep their wages stagnated. Mass Immigration was a liberal leftie thing, which is exactly what Keir is. So this is interesting. Watching GB News in my break here. We’ve had more people on boats so far this year than they ever did in years gone by for the entire year. They know the immigration figures are coming out next week. I know people who work in housing they are ferrying them by taxis to Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh anywhere with space.

It’s not a left/right wing thing we can’t facilitate the world’s poorest people. You know many claim asylum claiming they’re gay and they could be Nigerian. Obviously they eventually discover they’re not gay.

BIossomtoes · 12/05/2025 14:22

Then why are you making snarky remarks about left wing leaders?

Keir is a liberal. Which is very different, they 100% championed mass immigration.

Labour voters never understand why people vote anything but Labour.

This is true. I wonder how they feel about many of the traditional red wall Labour voters turning to Tory/Reform the last few years?

So when these people all voted Labour originally, they were salt of the earth, kind, accepting working class people. But when they suddenly swing their vote, they’re all stupid racists?!

Many Reform voters that the left like to patronise and bully once voted they way they do. How do they even rationalise that in their head?

Apart from major cities, most lefties live in wealthy leafy suburbs where mass immigration hasn’t affected their life. Go figure

So true. Look how rhetoric switches.

Labour are all over the place anyway with this. They deserve to see their polls crumble.

Why do you want to come out of the ECHR?

RedWhite · 12/05/2025 18:47

Just watched the news headlines and I’m so pleased to see tackling immigration is a priority even for a far left government. It shows they are panicking about the electorate. The reporter said that this is a bigger issue to the public than the NHS currently.

So that people cannot fight deportation on the grounds of their children’s favourite chicken nuggets are not available in their own country.

It’s not a far left government, there’s a fag paper between this government and Major’s Tories.

So you don't want to be able to challenge the government for human rights abuses eg Hillsborough?

I wouldn't bother. Apparently Communists are in power for some.

If only the French would let the SAS, SBS or SRR deal directly with the gangs.

Like NI. Covert surveillance & a big stick. As it were.

I want everyone to be able to have a decent standard of living and be able to find secure long term housing, have access to quality healthcare, including dentists, just for a start….

Clearly you’re too young to remember the Major government. It’s similarity in placement on the political spectrum to the current government is apparent to anyone who was an adult in the 90s.

She done some questionable things of course but like in any society, there are winners and losers. The winners were the ones who were able to buy their council homes. That’s had a knock on effect to this day, because there have never been enough houses built to keep up with demand. Here we are now fighting fisty cuffs trying to rent someone and the thought of owning somewhere is disappearing with each generation. The successive governments (all of them!) done nothing to ease that housing shortage and they’re all to blame partly.

BIossomtoes · 12/05/2025 20:50

My apologies but ironic that he could be of it wasn’t for the high court judgement and common sense ruling recently. I believe the current Labour government were in support of that ideology until the courts spoke sense. Another reason people aren’t keen…
