Just wondering.

Ditto your meaningless 'millions dead' line @Donttellempike

Why would there be? What's the point if going on like that anyway.

It won't help you, as they'll just say good luck pay for yourself.

Because they are decimating medical treatment to the poor , and don’t believe in vaccinations.

Also destroying the agencies that report on and reserarch public health matters.

Bird flu is rampant and Texas has over 300 cases of measles. Fox won’t be telling you any of this though. So you don’t need to worry 😉

They are gutting any and all safety regulations including nuclear facilities and funneling to money to the billionaires instead

Thys includes all and any air safety matters, food safety , cancer research . Just off the top of my head.

Enjoy your time in la la land. It’ll be a short trip

EasternStandard · 19/02/2025 22:32

@Donttellempike I'm not in the US and I doubt millions will die. And any post happy about that is off.

I'm more concerned wrt the increased risk over here.

Well he's delivering on promises. I'd desperately love for a DOGE type of audit in this country, the spending they've uncovered is absolutely criminal.

A proper financial audit would take forensic auditors, not just some big headed fellow and some teenaged computer nerds, a few months to go through all the evidence, not a couple of days. how ridiculous. you are really gullible.

they have sacked workers in the nuclear management industry as casually as you like and then found that they shouldn't have. now they need to 'unsack' them but they can't find them due to not having any forwarding or contact addresses. Do you really want incompetents like that to run an audit in this country?

@lentilbake16 I am GC but he is only this way so he can 'put women in their place' (usually a place of disadvantage).
On a broader levels, there are many more critical issues such as Ukraine and Gaza.
Let''s take ourselves back to the 80s (because those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it):

  • The Northern Ireland conflict is Russia vs Ukraine. Trump chooses to speak to Sinn Fein (Russia) and exclude the UK (Ukraine)
  • The Gaza conflict is the Falklands - Argentina vs UK. Trump thinks the Falklands will be a great place to set up a penguin viewing business and negotiates with Argentina on this basis. The UK are not invited to the table
Both of these are imperfect analogies due to power imbalances but can be considered by people in the UK to bring it home.

What are you on about ? Do you
know who Sinn Fein are ? I guess not.

EasternStandard · 19/02/2025 22:43

'Good luck suckers' after millions will die..

What kind of post is that

Categorically NOT a fan, but read sn interesting point from Boris Johnson that Trump isn't trying to be historically accurate, he's trying to shock Europe into action...

BJ has to try to cover trump’s mad rants because he (boris) supported Ukraine and is now wanting to be mates with the orange one.
Saner republicans have often tried the same tactic by reinterpreting his ill informed the off the cuff raving inaccuracies because they know full well that he is talking bollocks but they can’t admit it.

Hamletscigar · 20/02/2025 01:13

Fargo79 · 19/02/2025 21:07

What about the women and girls, some of them primary school aged, who are now forced to birth their rapists' babies?

What about the little girl, 11 years old, who just killed herself because she so desperately feared her parents being detained by ICE and deported, leaving her all alone? Her bullies didn't come up with that by themselves. They used Trump's rhetoric to taunt her to her death.

You don't care about women and girls. You are a fraud.

I am GC but would never in a million years describe myself as "thrilled" by a man who has the blood of women and girls on his hands just because he knows what a woman is.

What are you on about? Give some actual examples of women being forced to birth Babies against their will. You won’t be able to because you have been filled with lies from the left.
Also you really shouldn’t weaponise the suicide of a child. Suicide is always multi faceted, it’s not appropriate to pretend this is trumps fault.

These are exactly the kind of comments that have led to this shit show in the first place.

The USA need’s swing voters to vote for the Democrats next time. Calling people who voted for Trump stupid really isn’t going to convince them to vote any other way. You alienate people, you lose their vote.

But look at the pro Trump posts on this thread alone. They seem frighteningly unaware of the wider picture.

They can't be called anything other than stupid, maybe/hopefully they are just Russian bots.

wholettheturnipsburn · 20/02/2025 01:39

hamstersarse · 19/02/2025 20:23

I think he has got a point. The US has poured money into Ukraine with no security on that money, Europe has put in less and has security on the money.

If I was from the US, I would be happy but given I live in Europe I will now have to suck up what the Europeans should have been doing all along...if they really support Ukraine.

It is a true thing to say by Trump, that WHERE have the peace talks been so far from Europe?

Where are the "peace talks" now though

All is see is trump and putin carving up Ukraine. Trump could really force peace by telling his pal to fuck off out of Ukraine and get back in his dirtbox

The Florida mansion was a new one to me! I must have missed that particular fabrication.

It is incredible the shite people will fall for if it aligns with their views.

I think the Florida mansion is where he parks his Bugatti.

He keeps all the jewels at Highgrove.

I've read the whole thread and would have to conclude that you're 100% correct.

you can disagree ideologically about the republican laws governing reproductive health, but you absolutely DONT get to pretend the consequences don't exist.

If you support the legislature you have to know the consequences of it, don't be an ostrich.

Are you also glad about his views on how he can grab GC women "by the pussy" too?
And are you glad about his conviction for raping a woman? Obviously a great advocate for women everywhere...

There are a lot of one issue voters (who ignore all other issues). And Trump knew it. He promised people what they wanted to hear and they were deaf to other things that they didn’t like. One issue voters are not unique to the US unfortunately.

Ger1atricMillennial · 20/02/2025 02:59

Right and left isn't real. There are only extremists and moderates, and individualism and collectivism.

Most of us sit on that axis somewhere. For example I am a moderate, but my policy is to build bridges with neighbours and have a collective pot for people who are unable to manage for whatever reason. My brother is also moderate but he thinks we should make sure we protect ourselves and people should be encouranged to learn to be able earn what they need. But we both disagree with the extreme-ist retoric of Trump, Johnsson and Farage which is why we both voted for remain and Labour in the last government. If the collectivism was extreme I would vote for the individulists.

Trump appeals to extreme individualists. So anyone who feels (or who has been made to feel) that the government action needs to be extreme or anyone who prefers individulism over collectivism.

Raking in billions personally? From where? How do you know this? Or are you talking about the aid Ukraine as a country has received?

The billions in "aid".
And you don't think he's lining his own pockets? Come off it. So of all the politicians in the world, 99% of whom are corrupt, he just happens to be honest?
Are you aware of the deals he and Biden were doing?

You do realise the audit you are talking about has been fudged and full of complete lies, please do a little research.

You'll find waste everywhere... private and public but there's plenty of fake coming out of these so called audits.

There's a good reason why companies that conduct audits follow certain protocols...it's so it can be verified. It's the same as scientific research....but Trump doesn't believe in either...it's his opinion that matters and he'll get bits of paper and wave them about as proof....

I would describe myself as left and agree that the left's failure is in applying left ideology when dealing with far right voters.

There needs to be a middle ground, based on pragmatic, not populist politics. In my mind there is only one way to achieve this - sadly it will never happen - this is to cap political donations and make truth in political advertising the law.

True democracy has been decimated by the funding of political parties by big business and the permission we collectively endorsed for candidates to lie their way into office. We are all so blinded by the narrative that we want to hear (cognitive bias) that we are all failing to see that all of these funded parties, built on lies are just a front to benefit their financial backers. Trump is nothing. He is a puppet as was Biden.

So I think nothing about Trump, other than he is a stooge - always was, always has been. He speaks the language of ordinary people - so they listen to his sound bite politics as it gives them a sense that they are in control.

I am terrified of what our children are inheriting. The Hunger Games is alive and well and nobody wants to do anything about it.

😢

It's worse than that. There is no way of establishing the truth. Nobody will accept "facts" that have been decided upon by their political opponents. The levels of distrust are so corrosively high I can't see any way back, beyond some kind of truth and reconciliation hard reset but that will never happen.

The left have had this peculiar inversion and are not the left I knew growing up. Since occupy they have been entirely consumed by identity politics, and the most sophisticated critiques of capitalism are now coming from the right. The left used to win arguments by actually winning the argument, now they just use the brute institutional power they have/had to destroy people.

Can you expand on why you class Zelenskyy as a dictator?

In case you do not know Zelensky should have called elections or is due or passed the time of his mandate so this is why he is being accused of being a dictator.

Edited

That’s bollocks. The Ukrainian constitution allows for elections to be suspended during an invasion, just as the UK’s did 80 years ago.

Hamletscigar · 20/02/2025 07:24

All your examples took place in 2022 and 2023, during Joe Biden’s reign. Why don’t you blame the Democrat? Why didn’t the democrats step in and change these laws?

To go through your examples, the first one is completely disingenuous- the uneducated 12/13 year old didn’t know the law and supposedly thought she couldn’t have an abortion but she could.

The second example could have traveled to New Mexico or Colorado but chose not to and is instead taking a lawsuit.

The third example only discovered that she would need to carry the pregnancy full term when she was 27 weeks gone. It was a tragedy anyway and she was forced to wait 10 more weeks before she gave birth. She also could have travelled to have an abortion, indeed “Viewers offered the Dorberts money to travel out of state to terminate the pregnancy. But the couple worried that they would get arrested.
Florida law doesn’t forbid such travel, but the Dorberts were concerned.” Deborah Dorbett is also pursuing a lawsuit.

Meanwhile I’m much more concerned about 14 year old girls like Clementine Breen getting mastectomies or 13 year olds boys like Jonnie Skinner growing breasts from oestrogen and then regretting them for the rest of their lives. Trump has acted to stop this horror on children.

Trump’s decision about Roe v Wade forces each state to make a state law about abortion. Good, I’m all for democracy- are you against it? Anyone who really wants one can travel if they need to. Or else they can wait, like your examples, and go for the lawsuit.
