Dominic Cummings is Musk's informer

trapforsanta · 12/01/2025 09:02

It's been revealed in multiple media sources after much speculation that Dominic Cummings has been whatsapping Musk with strategies to undermine the UK government and our democracy. For a while commentators have been speculating that Musk must have a hard right UK informant, since he's not across any detail himself and really has no understanding of the UK or our political system himself (see his comments about asking the King to dissolve the government). He's clearly been radicalised by watching Tommy Robinson's videos, and now we discover it's Cummings up to his dark tricks again.

I don't think I've ever wished harm to another person but honestly I wish Cummings would just bugger off for good.

@Hoppingabout
“The distractions of the Robinson/Musk/Cummings bogeymen, as I pointed out at the start of this thread are just distractions from what will be one of the most terrible stories of this country. It's a silly title for a thread and I wonder the motivations of people sometimes.”

Absolutely agree

GrammarTeacher · 13/01/2025 07:28

The thread is important though. There are people using this terrible situation for their own political ends and we should be very wary of them.

I agree that some people will be. But most people, even poiticians, have hearts and souls and some even have children. Who wouldn't be horrified and if in a position to do something constructive wouldn't want to it. Most people (even Dominic Cummings) can see past politics. And so threads like this potentially distract the attention. Continuous specific pressure needs to be put on the government and its not useful if there are paranoid stories about Elon Musk talking to Dominic Cummimgs. We all know how the news cycle operates.

You are seriously both underestimating and overestimating Musk.
He doesn’t care about the well being of anyone.
He has an alarming amount of money and power. A fair society wouldn’t allow wealth hoarding to the extent of billionaires.

I think you might be overly focused on one man here who you don't like as a messenger and therfore don't want to listen to his message.

I and most people aren't naive and do understand the undercurrents of the politics and Musk. I don't think you have special knowledge on this. But that's why it's important to focus on facts.eg why have previous enquiries been insufficient, and those arguments seem very reasonable to me.

@GrammarTeacher
“You clearly have no idea of the changes put in place in all services since Rotherham. No system is perfect which is why the teacher training is updated annually (more regularly if necessary), we can always do things better.”
Why do you say I clearly have no idea of the changes put in place? What makes you think I’m ignorant of developments and what information do you have that I don’t?

Julie Bindel - 4 days ago
”We also have to look at moral cowardice. When I first published my investigation into the grooming gangs in 2007, The Guardianwouldn’t run it. I’d asked them repeatedly, and the editor said that we would be seen as racist, despite the fact that she knew I’m a feminist on the left, and we had been concerned about child sexual abuse committed by perpetrators of all stripes. But even so, there was this cowardice. And when I took it to The Sunday Times, the first thing that happened that same day was that my name was added to Islamophobia Watch, a website that had been set up by two men—white men on the hard left—who decided that any criticism of Islam or Islamists was Islamophobic. (I didn’t care that I was on that watch list. In fact, I was quite proud of it because I thought, Good, I’ve made a mark. There were lots of Muslim women from different countries—living, or who’d escaped living, under Islamic rule—who were saying “thank you” for publishing this.)
All of the white feminists that I knew at the time in the media that were fighting male violence were also scared to publish it. In fact, some of them came up to me at media events and they didn’t say “brave,” they said it was “risky.” I was absolutely sickened and appalled. And that cowardice remains today.”

All the bien pensant posters who like to tell you “you’re clearly not aware “ of things they know.

You’re racist/ far right / ignorant/ naive

Julie Bindel’s right - “moral cowardice “

It's a silly title for a thread

It’s a perfectly reasonable title for a thread for people who want to discuss Musk and Cummings. You don’t seem to want to allow people to do that on the thread set up to do that. Are you new to Mumsnet and perhaps don’t understand how it works?

noblegiraffe · 13/01/2025 08:17

I’ve been looking at Cummings’ twitter account, interestingly the bio has this. I don’t think Cummings has said that he is autistic. Musk is autistic. Does Cummings think he is weaponising him??

Either way, Cummings is openly admitting that his goal is ‘regime change’. Which is an interesting choice of words.

Dominic Cummings is Musk's informer
OpheliaWasntMad · 13/01/2025 08:23

Another quote from the interview
“Julie and Ayaan explain today what happened, how these rapes and murders were covered up in the name of preserving “social harmony,” how it’s still happening, why Elon Musk is suddenly tweeting furiously about it, and how Britain’s ruling class is being forced to reckon with a scandal it had, until recently, successfully ignored.
It’s a story about “tolerance” run amok, and how a civilized country can convince itself to accept the most uncivilized crimes imaginable.”

It’s still going on. We can see the mentality on the posts on here

I've explained why I don't think these sorts of thread titles are for the benefit of victims as they are a distraction. Why on earth do you want people to be distracted? What motive do you have?

Anyway I'm not stopping people from discussing it. I'm just pointing out that it's a silly title. Statement of fact.

noblegiraffe · 13/01/2025 08:28

Why on earth should people not want to discuss that the architect of Brexit is apparently working with a foreign soon-to-be government official to try to overturn our democratically elected government?

Because you've fallen for a conspiracy theory promoted by the Daily Mail. Although if the Mail is "your truth" crack on.

EasternStandard · 13/01/2025 08:37

Cummings did a good job with partygate and Johnson

Mn was pretty up for that generally, I doubt the same posters minded

He might get some good lines in or not but Labour are causing their own issues at this point

If Reeves goes it’ll be due to the markets and Starmer is just as responsible there

You haven’t read the tweets if you seriously think that Musk isn’t trying to destabilise the UK government. Where did he get his information if there’s been a cover up? How did he unerringly target Jess Phillips? Somebody has been feeding him and it’s not a huge stretch to join the dots to bring you to a self avowed disrupter, who wants weirdos and misfits with odd skills running the country.

Funny

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2025 08:50

Glad you think so. Most sane people think it’s very far from funny.

Eh? I’m literally reading these men’s own words from their Twitter accounts.

Do you dispute that that they have both written about wanting regime change in the U.K.?

And the only person in the UK that could identify the shy and unknown politician known as Jess Philips to Elon Musk can only be...der der.derrrrr....an ex-SPAD Dominic Cummings.

Next time you and noble(ahem) pooh-pooh something the Daily Mail says, may I refer you to this thread?

Wanting regime.change probably applies to the feelings of most of the country TBF

noblegiraffe · 13/01/2025 08:57

I didn’t read it in the Daily Mail.

EasternStandard · 13/01/2025 09:00

What Musk tweets is less threat to Labour continuing than their own policy failings

They could see a new Chancellor soon and other leaders have gone for that

They should be more concerned about their own limitations at this point

Hoppingabout · 13/01/2025 09:05

noblegiraffe · 13/01/2025 08:57

I didn’t read it in the Daily Mail.

They started the conspiracy theory.

If you take the Spectator (which from your posts I assume you do) there's an article from someone who knows DC and disagrees with him entirely about everything. But who confirms it's a conspiracy theory. So unless you yourself have insider information....?

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2025 09:07

Nobody can confirm it’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s an opinion.
