Dominic Cummings is Musk's informer

It's been revealed in multiple media sources after much speculation that Dominic Cummings has been whatsapping Musk with strategies to undermine the UK government and our democracy. For a while commentators have been speculating that Musk must have a hard right UK informant, since he's not across any detail himself and really has no understanding of the UK or our political system himself (see his comments about asking the King to dissolve the government). He's clearly been radicalised by watching Tommy Robinson's videos, and now we discover it's Cummings up to his dark tricks again.

I don't think I've ever wished harm to another person but honestly I wish Cummings would just bugger off for good.

Which media sources have reported this?

Hoppingabout · 12/01/2025 09:11

Who is saying that? Are we blaming the messenger again rather than listening to the message?

Elon Musk has done this country a great service highlighting child grooming gangs. Just because Labour don't enjoy him pointing out their faults doesn't make him wrong. And Labour saw nothing wrong in interfering in US politics so they can't complain now.

AzurePanda · 12/01/2025 09:14

I’m perplexed by all the outrage over Musk having opinions on British Politics - people in Britain and particularly politicians have never held back on their opinions on Trump.

Also intrigued by the term “informant” - as if it’s somehow illegal to have a conversation or relationship with someone.

lostinthememory · 12/01/2025 09:15

This is huge.

This isn't about the gangs - Elon Musk is trying to interfere in every facet of our political system, without any understanding of it. Saying he wants Starmer gone, he wants the US to "liberate" us (what does that even mean?), trying to remove Farage to have someone who will bend the knee to him in charge of reform.

He's the richest man on earth and he has a direct line to the US president. In the US they refer to him as president Musk because he has that much influence. This is really, really serious.

The Mail for starters: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14274419/Elon-Musk-Dominic-Cummings-plot-sabotage-UK-politics-Nigel-Farage.html

I only needed to search Cummings Musk to find that.

British politicians need to have an opinion on other politicians. They need to express those opinions and use their power to influence policy. We are not an isolated blob of a country. Politicians have been voted in to do this in part based on their views of how they will work with other countries.
Musk is not an elective representative he is the wealthiest man on the planet and a megalomaniac narcissist. He hasn't rose to fame on the back of his political knowledge.
He shouldn't be meddling with our politics. Cummings equally treats our politics and our country as a game. He has zero morals. Cummings admitted he knew brexit would be bad for the country but that wasn't his role. His role was to win the game of making brexit happen. Annoyingly he is very good at playing this sort of game. He has worked out many people are easily manipulated. Especially with using populist ideas such as immigration, and horrifically in this case grooming and racism as an easy way to sway public opinion.
Anyone that thinks for even one second that Musk gives a fuck about women and girls is a complete fool. I wouldn't be surprised if it is Cummings. If I was an utter cunt that wanted to disrupt countries for my own fun and power hungry nature I would also use him.

Yes, I’m amused by this too.

Why is it ok for prominent British people to give damning opinion on social media and elsewhere about US politics and politicians - much of the most reported opinion having been expressed by elected representatives in the UK - but not the other way round?

These objections all seem a bit paranoid TBH.

bevelino · 12/01/2025 09:26

Musk needs to focus his attention on the problems in the U.S. I am hoping that when he is in office with his new job in the Trump Administration he won’t have time to interfere in the politics of other countries.

This is not huge. This is nothing the left haven't been doing for years; trying to influence politics by non democratic means in dominating all institutions such as the civil service, education, BBC etc. They just don't like it when someone disagrees.

It's all a distraction from the main issues. Labour are trying to cause a distraction by raising the spectre of bogeyman being the messengers (Cummings, Musk, Tommy Robinson) rather than.dealing with the actual issues they've raised. It's a very obvious tactic.

AzurePanda · 12/01/2025 09:27

@lostinthememory he’s entitled to say what he likes. I’m sure you’re aware of all the billionaires involved in funding think tanks, research institute’s etc in the UK. Let alone all the billionaires who hold forth on Trump at any opportunity. Thank god for free speech.

It’s not opinions, he’s spreading misinformation as facts that people believe - e.g. Tommy Robinson is wrongfully imprisoned, that last week’s vote for a children’s bill was Labour blocking a full another inquiry into the grooming gangs.

He’a not holding Labour to account, he’s trying to challenge the very foundations of our democratic and legal systems, when he clearly understands neither. He called for the king to dissolve parliament - an unelected power to overthrow an elected power in a democracy, this can’t happen and it shows you exactly the type of state he prefers.

He is doing the same thing towards the German government, whilst also championing a far-right party who have associated with neo-nazis - let’s be under no illusion about Musk. Why is he attacking western democracies and not Russia, China, etc? Why isn’t he demanding an investigation into the Church of England child abuse that has been recently fully disclosed? Why isn’t he focusing on the Catholic Church abuse in US or Epstein, demanding justice for those victims in the country where he is an advisor to the president elect? Absolutely all of these horrific crimes need to be investigated properly with justice and reform to follow.

Also, Labour didn’t interfere in the US politics - some party members made their own independent choice to travel there to do some groundwork for the Democrats. That is blatantly incomparable to a man such as Musk with the platform he has spreading disinformation. This isn’t a personal complaint from Labour - several other countries are speaking out on this, one even banned X.

Those words show no particular bias, you're reading it with your own bias!

'Government sources claim or government advisor claims' is standard for political stories, whatever the government, whatever the topic.

Good on Musk. He can do what he likes. I don't equate the interests of our country with the interests of the Labour Party.

It’s worse that elected UK politicians air their views about US politics and politicians, not better (if it matters at all).

Elected politicians seek power. When they get power their comments come back to haunt them, and us. Have a look at David Lammy’s track record of commenting about the US!

And their ‘interference’ in another nation’s politics carries more weight than a businessman’s.

LlynTegid · 12/01/2025 09:35

If we were holding the corrupt and treasonous actions of Boris Johnson to account in a court of law as we should be, Dominic Cummings would no doubt be called as a witness and would therefore not have the time to stir, if indeed it is him.

It’s not party political. I feel the same as you about the Tories but there’s no way I’d condone his interference regardless of the colour of the government.

Much more corrupt would be a Labour Party shill judging the actions of Prime Minister from an opposing party while pretending to be neutral and then immediately after getting a cushy job with said Labour as a reward..

Oh hang on...that.actually happened.

I’m also perplexed. Surely we are all capable of critical thinking and if we apply doubt to the majority of what an individual says we can make our own decisions. He only has influence over the ignorant.

He's open about his messages though. Everyone knows what he says is from him and you can judge him accordingly.

If you're talking about covert influence on government however, that's always happened.

lostinthememory · 12/01/2025 09:39

It's nothing to do with having an opinion. Musk is free to have an opinion.

But given Trump's comments about using military and economic force to take Greenland and Canada, do we really want Musk talking about "liberating" us?

Thewaitingseason · 12/01/2025 09:39

In some ways I think it’s good that someone is coming in and disrupting things it might actually highlight issues and get people involved and interested in politics and the truth !

This and I also agree that Musk putting a bomb under the govt over the rape gangs is a really good thing and applaud him for that

This Cummings/Musk plot has come from the DM so I would take it with a pinch of salt
