Dominic Cummings is Musk's informer

It's been revealed in multiple media sources after much speculation that Dominic Cummings has been whatsapping Musk with strategies to undermine the UK government and our democracy. For a while commentators have been speculating that Musk must have a hard right UK informant, since he's not across any detail himself and really has no understanding of the UK or our political system himself (see his comments about asking the King to dissolve the government). He's clearly been radicalised by watching Tommy Robinson's videos, and now we discover it's Cummings up to his dark tricks again.

I don't think I've ever wished harm to another person but honestly I wish Cummings would just bugger off for good.

Good on Musk. He can do what he likes. I don't equate the interests of our country with the interests of the Labour Party.

Good on Musk for promoting the far-right and challenging the very basic principles of democracy? Historically, how does that normally work out for people? Actually, he can’t do what he likes, he just thinks he can - perhaps because he’s just funded the presidency of a convicted felon accused of sexual assault and misconduct - Musk is as accountable as anyone else. You can criticise Labour and still believe that what Musk is doing is dangerous and wrong.

In some ways I think it’s good that someone is coming in and disrupting things it might actually highlight issues and get people involved and interested in politics and the truth !

Agree. He's done the victims of the rape gangs a great service and is getting us to look at ourselves as a country and how we should be protecting our society.

AlisonDonut · 12/01/2025 09:42

Yes, this is the real issue. Not the institutionalised protections that are given to men, so very many groups of disgusting men, decade after decade after decade. Forever and ever and ever.

Or the violent threats that are dished out to anyone who breaks stories and gets the word out. No, it's all about Tommy bloody Robinson.

I've given up trying to define this nebulous description of "far right" that Keir seems to throw around at anyone who disagrees with him. Which includes most of us. We are all "far right" now.

Justcallmebebes · 12/01/2025 09:45

Musk may have channelled millions of dollars into the Republicans campaign, but that did not win them the election. The fact that Trump won the majority vote, by a long shot, is what won them the election

PheasantPluckers · 12/01/2025 09:47

It’s not opinions, he’s spreading misinformation as facts that people believe - e.g. Tommy Robinson is wrongfully imprisoned, that last week’s vote for a children’s bill was Labour blocking a full another inquiry into the grooming gangs.

Not the first time - remember his disgusting accuststion about the diver that rescued those poor boys stuck in the cave in Thailand?

People know he's a nepo-baby crackpot. The only ones who will be influenced by him are the people that want to believe these things, already believe them and would be influenced by anyone spouting far right rhetoric - and we have plenty of those ourselves.

I’m perplexed by all the outrage over Musk having opinions on British Politics - people in Britain and particularly politicians have never held back on their opinions on Trump.

Also intrigued by the term “informant” - as if it’s somehow illegal to have a conversation or relationship with someone.

This is a fair point look at the politicians who had to pretend they hadn’t held strong opinions on Trump earlier

As for Cummings he was instrumental in partygate so he’s likely keen to go for either and if it’s good one then the other can’t complain over same

He’s not great at long form writing but gets strategy pretty much spot on so you’d not want him against you

Tommy Robinson was the leader of the EDL and the AfD in Germany who Musk is promoting are both classified as far-right because they meet the criteria. So no, we’re not all far-right, but Musk is certainly promoting that political opinion.

Which of the AfD policies do you disagree with?

lostinthememory · 12/01/2025 09:55

@Hoppingabout it's not about free speech. He's spreading blatant lies to try and destabilise our democracy in order to install one of his pals as our PM. Do you genuinely not see that?

GrammarTeacher · 12/01/2025 09:57

Hoppingabout · 12/01/2025 09:11

Who is saying that? Are we blaming the messenger again rather than listening to the message?

Elon Musk has done this country a great service highlighting child grooming gangs. Just because Labour don't enjoy him pointing out their faults doesn't make him wrong. And Labour saw nothing wrong in interfering in US politics so they can't complain now.

Well done. He highlighted something we ALREADY had a national inquiry on and the PREVIOUS government failed to implement the recommendations and then tried to delay a bill that put in some more protections in the recent legislation on schools.

Do not you think the Labour Party are doing self harming themselves?

The trio of clowns KS, Reeves and Phillipson are doing it.

He's open about his messages though. Everyone knows what he says is from him and you can judge him accordingly.

If you're talking about covert influence on government however, that's always happened.

I’m talking about Musk. I don’t care how open he is and I have judged him.

What's the criteria out of interest? Because that's the same.criteria Keir Starmer applies to anyone "jumping on a far right bandwagon", that bandwagon being calling for a national enquiry into rape gangs. Is that what you mean?

AzurePanda · 12/01/2025 10:03

@GrammarTeacher there has never been a national inquiry into the mass child rape committed by predominantly men of Pakistani origin. The Baroness Jay inquiry into child abuse was commissioned after Savile and Operation Yewtree. It covered the child rape by predominantly Pakistani gangs but not in great detail, it didn’t for example examine why it happened in the first place or specifically what part the offender’s ethnicity played in the way the authorities dealt with it.

I get it. It is not fun when your political party is at the receiving end and being held accountable. Mind you the Tories were at least decent to resign when it was too much. This government happily line up for under deserved knighthoods ( Sadid Khan) and won’t resign ever. They also put an anti corruption minister that is dodgy and corrupted herself (Tulip) oh dear oh dear…

SallyWD · 12/01/2025 10:10

I saw this mentioned in the Daily Mail Online yesterday. I find it deeply disturbing. These people do not have the interests of the British people at heart.

Those words show no particular bias, you're reading it with your own bias!

'Government sources claim or government advisor claims' is standard for political stories, whatever the government, whatever the topic.

Yes. I'm sure you are completely right. Obviously you would give the Conservatives the same courtesy of believing whatever wild accusation they might make too.amd take them completely at face value.

Why would you feel like you need to see the WhatsApp messages of someone who is still technically until the inauguration presumably a private citizen?
