I have not voted
Reform and live in a safe tory seat But I voted
Lib dem tactical vote

I said ages Ago on here the reform would do really well and was shouted down.

Same as brexit, no one will admit voting for reform but
They still do it in droves it seems.

I'm Willing to bet they
Might win an election in four years at this rate!!

Scary
Times

The opinion polls are suggesting they will get 13 seats... still a long long way to go thankfully

Rainallnight · 04/07/2024 23:29

Yep. Scary stuff. It’s a huge share in Sunderland, the only seat to have declared so far.

SkyeB86 · 04/07/2024 23:29

Farage tries and tries, never gets far. I wouldn't worry, he's unlikely to improve with time.

jockeywilsonsaid · 04/07/2024 23:29

I'm both flabbergasted and furious that they're predicted to get 13 seats. But I don't think there is any chance of them winning an election.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2024 23:29

Sunderland was always expected to have a massive Reform vote, don't extrapolate from them to the general population.

Prawncow · 04/07/2024 23:30

I’m really grateful for our first past the post system. It should keep down the number of seats they win.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/07/2024 23:34

In the first seat that declared they took 11,000
Votes so came second. If that replaced over the country that's a shed load of votes

Its a big if though.....

AmusedMaker · 04/07/2024 23:37

They’re definitely doing well that’s for sure.

The first result was pretty worrying, they got a lot of votes! I am nervous the the predicted 13 seats is going to be an underestimate.

midgetastic · 04/07/2024 23:39

So they get a lot of vote?

Why are you surprised ?

People are well pissed off , with gixking good reason , and they offer (at first glance ) hope for a better future

How this plays out long term depends on how things can be turned around for the general public not the super rich and not the London crew

It won't look like that in London, the South East or the University Cities. But yes in deprived ex-industrial communities this seems to be the trend. Watch out for Blackpool, the Medway Towns and Wales.

Um...

Blyth is quite far North but it's not quite in Scotland 😁

But yes the number of Reform votes so far is a worry!

TuckingFerrible · 04/07/2024 23:40

Reform 👏💪

WhereIsTheHare · 04/07/2024 23:42

They’re big Brexit supporting areas, where those people who thought life would be better for them out of the EU have not found it so. And they voted Reform as a result. As others are saying, vote share won’t be like this over much of the country. Regardless, even with increased vote shares, they won’t translate into winning seats, so they won’t have real power, but their success tonight is likely to mean a shift of the Conservative Party even further to the right, which is not good news for anyone.

TuckingFerrible · 04/07/2024 23:40

Reform 👏💪

Thanks. I didn’t know the emoji for tosspots.

Brandonsflowers · 04/07/2024 23:44

It makes sense. There are a lot of people pissed off with the tories and that the fabled brexit didn't come to fruition. These aren't the kind of people who would vote for Labour in protest against the Tory Party. So they vote Reform cos there is nowhere else for them to go. It's like the Andrew Tate of politics.

Bellsandthistle · 04/07/2024 23:46

I don’t understand how people are shocked by this. The same people who were shocked by Brexit, no doubt.

nocoolnamesleft · 04/07/2024 23:46

Frightening.

Brandonsflowers · 04/07/2024 23:46

@WhereIsTheHare The Tories have been a cesspit of infighting since Cameron left. It will only get worse now.

Noosnom · 04/07/2024 23:47

There's a lot of nasty, ill educated , bigoted people out there. Sadly I'm not surprised if they get a lot of votes.

Melonportal · 04/07/2024 23:48

This thread is showing exactly why people have voted Reform - there's a nasty implication of stupid, working class, northern idiots. Don't worry, the sensible southerners will show them how they should have voted.

Noosnom · 04/07/2024 23:49

I am in the south. There's plenty of thick racists around here, literally in my estate.

Prawncow · 04/07/2024 23:49

And there’s Kent.
