he can't quit.
too much (state) legal trouble

He's never let that kind of thing stop him before, he just gets away with absolutely anything he wants to do. Mad though it is. I mean, he got away with inciting insurrection and invasion of the Capitol and lying about the 2020 election, let alone treason. Why would this be any different?

The fact that Trump can no longer use the age argument will really annoy him, particularly when everything he previously said can now be applied to him!

According to Mooch there may already be trouble in paradise with Trump and Vance - Trump doesn’t like anyone stealing his limelight or appearing to be smarter than him (though let’s face it, that’s not hard!) and the fact that people are saying how presidential Vance sounded in his VP nomination acceptance speech has not gone down well.

So Trump’s team made this race about Biden’s age and consequently age became the dominate frame for voters. If Trump wanted a referendum on cognitive decline he’s now going to get one.

Buyer beware.

I've just listed a bigly icebox on eBay.com - only one previous world leader owned it.

Nancy Pelosi

With immense pride and limitless optimism for our country’s future, I endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November. -NP

Laura Loomer is posting all sorts of vile things about Harris on TwiX and Musk is letting her do it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2024 19:20

Musk is – what I have known him to be for many years now.

Not just letting her do it, posting his agreement to what she is saying (unless it is a fake account in his name).
I'd never heard of the woman before, she is beyond vile, as are many of her followers, though a few are telling her she has crossed the line with those remarks about abortions.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2024 20:15

I've heard of her: she has been being vile for some time, brown-nosing to Trump.

SerendipityJane · 22/07/2024 20:42

The TL;DR is the Dems have stolen the media spotlight from Trump and he's letting us know it's working. Proaction, if you like.

CaveMum · 22/07/2024 20:57

Really clutching at straws there. Biden was merely the presumptive nominee and until the Conventions you can never be 100% sure who is running. Big orange baby needs something to complain about I guess.

It's a shift in the power balance. Trump has to outwhine the message.

He still hasn't shown us how he will outrun the "we can't have an old man as president" basket he put all his eggs into. Except by admitting he was hoodwinked.

Be interesting to see how the "Kamala Harris is the power behind the throne" plays out with Democrats. Some of them might prefer it to Biden.

August 19th will be interesting

BruceAndNosh · 22/07/2024 21:15

That's hysterical!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2024 21:16

She seems to be picking up a shedload of endorsements, including from people who might have been possible contenders. I exclude Manchin, who seemed to think the Democratic Party might take him back so he could run. He is not a possible contender. He hasn't endorsed her either, last I heard, which may work in her favour with a fair few people.

CaveMum · 22/07/2024 21:26

I saw RFK was planning a press conference yesterday but haven't seen any news on it. Granted I haven't exactly searched for it, but anyone want to precis what conspiracies he was peddling?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2024 22:20

Oh, he thinks he is the only candidate who can beat Trump, and he claims Harris was lying about Biden's condition; and people in the party are only backing her so they can hang onto the money; nothing all that special.

I think she got $81,000,000 in donations on her first day.

Wallaw · 22/07/2024 22:29

Feeling a bit optimistic for the first time in ages.

For everyone's enjoyment, Buttigieg on JD Vance (I'm not a Bill Maher fan but there's mercifully little of him in this clip)

I honestly wouldn't put it past Trump to have a hissy fit at a crucial point and decide he won't stand after all and that will serve everyone right. Or is that wishful thinking?

Hope springs eternal

poetryandwine · 23/07/2024 00:01

This article also says that Trump is pulling out of the September debate. Running scared

Well! You could knock me down with a feather! NOT.

I hadn't heard that he'd backed out, just that he now wants it done with Fox News rather than ABC. Big orange scaredy baby.

BruceAndNosh · 23/07/2024 07:30

I have wonder if Harris will say yes to a debate on Fox rather than no debate at all. Trump won't be keen to be used to against her rather than Biden., Trump was hardly stellar in the previous debate but his poor performance was disguised by Biden's dreadful one.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 23/07/2024 07:41

Interesting question, @BruceAndNosh. I wonder what it would do to Fox's ratings?
It looks as if the Democrats are eagerly taking Kamala Harris into their bosoms (so to speak), unless I'm misunderstanding what I've been reading elsewhere. I'm thinking $81million is quite a lot for her to have raised in such a short time, isn't it?

BruceAndNosh · 23/07/2024 08:31

Mike Johnson is scrabbling round trying to find some technicality to prevent Harris getting the nom. So they obviously see her as a threat

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 23/07/2024 09:16

Thank you for that, @lifesabitchandthenyoudie, I like Rachel Maddow and keep forgetting to read The Atlantic, which I love.
