@NCFT0922

The perception of the UK as a stable state run by sane people who know what they're doing is important.

See for reference the recent tanking of the Pound.

Penguinsaregreat · 20/10/2022 16:19

I think Liz Truss should have stuck it out.

Really?? FFS
She totally crashed our economy. How long would you like her to stay for?

saltnvinegarpringles · 20/10/2022 18:42

This debate is pointless; he won't be getting in due to the way the tories have set up the leadership election this time round.

However, imo anyone who wants Boris back is either mad or stupid. Or both.

Why do you think this - Because he won’t get 100 MPs?

worriedatthistime · 20/10/2022 18:26

@overtaxedunderling what did you suggest we do then just sit back and do nothing

Not at all, I don't want Ukrainians to lose their lives or their homes. It's now a 'scorched earth' drone war which is more expensive for Ukraine to defend than it is for Russia to attack.
I think it's tragic that Roger Waters (a lifelong pacifist) and Elon Musk who wanted Ukrainians to define their appetite to continue the conflict are vilified for their efforts.

I think he is the only one who can bring the Tories to heel and order He was naughty but has the mental strength to win.

Naughty ? He's not a 5 year old taking an extra chocolate bar without asking Hmm

Skyellaskerry · 20/10/2022 18:44

I could see him getting 100 MPs, those who will be looking to the next GE

NameChangeForARaisin · 20/10/2022 18:44

I would like to see a Labour Government but failing that, I think either Sajid Javid, Rishi Sunak or Theresa May would be safer than Boris for sure.

FridayTheThirteeth · 20/10/2022 18:44

A lying joke of a man (his penis worked and that's about the only bit of him that did work).

Replaced by an idiot who an no idea what she was doing.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/10/2022 18:44

why hasnt sajid javid put his name forward?

Why do you think this? He’s clearly going to get 100 mps and more. He’s already got more declaring and a pile of the members show he has the most support. What is making you think differently`?

Northernsouloldies · 20/10/2022 18:45

No fuck that no more decisions made for the whole country by little Englander tories. GENERAL ELECTION ASAP.

Yes, no way is he getting 100 MPs to back him. His approval rating with the electorate was dire before he went. He might be popular with members but with the electorate overall he no longer is.

He's a serial quitter. No chance of being taken seriously.

Happylady165 · 20/10/2022 18:10

It’s like everyone’s forgotten what a bloody idiot he was!!!!!

DH actually said the other day that he can't remember why Boris was so bad. I think that says a lot for how much chaos has happened since. I wouldn't be surprised if many people don't remember. I've had several people say to me recently they'd rather Boris came back.

I remember, he's a liar and an idiot. Nothing but a general election is good enough now, but that brings its own problems. Distraction from actually running the country and lack of a credible opposition (to Labour, when they win a massive landslide victory).

It's all just so fucked.

Hbh17 · 20/10/2022 16:28

As I commented elsewhere, he didn't do much wrong.
His support for Ukraine was important.
I didn't vote for Brexit, but the electorate did and he got it over the line.
But, as a Conservative, he should have been more libertarian and his overly harsh Covid restrictions were ridiculous.
The fuss about parties etc was totally unnecessary - I don't know anybody who cared about that, but his MPs got scared - now they are realising the truth of the phrase "be careful what you wish for"!

Were you also on holiday when he was pm??

Chateaudiaries · 20/10/2022 18:47

It’s good of him to break off one of his many holidays to save us from the mess he created. Arsehole.

He won’t get MP support anyway.

My mother in law died alone in hospital, we weren't allowed to be with her. You might not give a shit but I, for one, care that they had bloody parties while expecting the rest of us to stick to the rules! Fucking corrupt cunts. Fuck me! 😡

Ah, that’s a bet I’ll take. I reckon he’s already there. There was a lot of regret when he left. There was 155 who backed him to stay at the time, and that number has now increased. 100 is a walk in the park

mathanxiety · 20/10/2022 18:48

@asblindasabat

There isn't a way to alter the Protocol while still avoiding a hard border between NI and Ireland.

That is specifically the intention and function of the Protocol. It is the only way to achieve the aim of keeping the border open, accommodating both Brexit and the Good Friday Agreement.

The Good Friday Agreement and the Protocol are both legally binding international agreements.

I applaud the Labour party for supporting both - commitment to honouring international agreements is the least you can expect of a serious political party with claims to office, and representation of the UK abroad in trade negotiations, diplomacy, and alliances.

I disagree. His own party ousted him over the summer. They're not changing their minds now, makes them look like dicks (even more than they already do).

He was always popular with the members. They got rid of him because it isn't the members that matter, it is the electorate. With the electorate he is still as unpopular as he was after party gate- that's why they binned him.

Callipygion · 20/10/2022 18:49

Dodie66 · 20/10/2022 16:18

He’s on holiday at the moment.

Why is he on ‘holiday’? Parliament is sitting, he should be here undertaking his duties as an MP for his constituency and earning his pay. MPs get plenty of holidays there’s no excuse to be off on a junket. He’s a conniving scrounger, scrounging off the taxpayer - and they have the nerve to criticise people claiming paltry benefits. Absolute hypocrites. The sooner there’s a General Election the better.

Leakygutter · 20/10/2022 18:49

They were forced to oust him because of the strength of public opinion against him. The only thing that's changed since then is they lumbered us with someone even more incompetent.

Port1aCastis · 20/10/2022 18:39

The foul clown was partying with his disgraceful colleagues while a close family friend of ours died on her own in ICU
So no I do not want the sleazy fucker anywhere near government again

On one of his party nights I dropped my 80 year old mum at the door of the hospital confused and terrified and alone after she had had a stroke.

This is only one reason why I fucking hate the man.

Tulipomania · 20/10/2022 18:49

Boris endorsed Truss precisely because he knew should would fuck things up, thereby opening a path for him to return as PM.

We should have a General Election.
