I wondered if Carrie’s expensive wallpaper is still up at number 10, or if Liz had it ripped down 🤔

I thought exactly the same thing 😂

Anniefrenchfry · 20/10/2022 20:07

The daily mail is running a live poll, it’s the only one I can find. Current results

Boris for PM

@Jaffacats well yes but if the Tory party members get to choose…

…coffin nails at the ready…

They are totally damned at the moment so I suppose they may think..."how much worse can it get?! " At least we will know by next week. They all need to stop wasting time and get on with Governing.

saltnvinegarpringles · 20/10/2022 20:08

Daily mail readers are hardly going to be an unbiased sample, are they.

CheshireCat1 · 20/10/2022 20:09

We need a general election.

VivX · 20/10/2022 20:09

MPs are "office holders" not employees. There isn't an annual leave entitlement, as such.

pigcon1 · 20/10/2022 20:09

Been there, done that, never ever again

I think it’s in the bag for Rishi, so he won’t bother.

Rishi will probably get what he wanted when he orchestrated the attack on Boris, the majority of the photos were taken from No 11, Not defending Boris about partygate at all but forcing him out has led to the current situation.

ChocFrog · 20/10/2022 20:10

Does anyone else feel like they’re in a speeding car and the driver got kicked out by the passengers for being drunk and then one of the passengers volunteered to drive but crashed the car a second later and now the drunk driver is trying to smash through the window to get back into the driving seat?

Jazzandblues · 20/10/2022 20:10

Penguinsaregreat · 20/10/2022 16:19

I think Liz Truss should have stuck it out.

I think it was all part of the plan for her to fail and for Boris to come back. Maybe they fooled her into believing that she could be an pm.

I can't understand why people want rishi when he has screwed us too.

Look at two countries that didn't lockdown? Brazil and Russia, quite extraordinary death rates and damage to their economies

well I don’t know about Brazil but are you having a laugh over Russia. Do you have no idea how Russia handled it, yes they had lock down, from Moscow and across the board, forced stay at home orders, they also forced employers to ensure all staff were vaccinated or shutting down their companies and freezing their bank accounts. People were fired if they couldn’t get vaccinated. They carried out checks on the metro, carried our raids on peoples homes if they thought they had it, enforced and I mean forcibly , quarantine on its citizens, Trust me, no one should be flying the flag for Russia. It was brutal

Russia had a partial LD that wasn't generally enforced, (yes in places it was, which is what you are referring too) hence its huge excess death toll.

Its well documented, hence why i used it as an example to the poster who said we should never have had one.

Boris tried having no LD too and obviously didn't apply his rules to himself, which is why he is unsuitable (among many other reasons) to be PM, let alone a 2nd shot.

Unlike the totally unbiased MN and the Grauniad.

Boris wasn’t forced out, he left cos he was so shit everyone refused to work with him. Except Nadine. Which is not a good sign.

Croque · 20/10/2022 20:13

If love could carry him through to victory then Nadine's love for him alone would guarantee his success!

Despite the fact that he is still an MP and should be at work representing his constituents. The man is a disgrace.

I live in his constituency. We haven't noticed him not been here representing us as he never has anyway.

theworldhas · 20/10/2022 20:16

who would make the best PM (among the electorate)
Starmer 43 vs Johnson 30
Starmer 40 vs Sunak 27
Starmer 42 vs Morduant 21

And remember that is PM, not Party. Starmer isn’t all that popular but still beats them all easily.

As far as 2024 General Election goes, Sunak will never be able to overcome his billionaire image during a cost of living crisis.

Morduant is just another random, with probably insufficient time to make that much of an impression. And she looks and sounds very, very Tory (of which I’d wager 70%+ of the electorate have had quite enough of by now).

Johnson is Johnson - except the wider electorate see through his antics/Boris the Clown brand now.

Who wants to lose in 2024? Sunak I guess. Two years as PM will look great on his CV before he goes back to the serious business of making money.

But they weren't the ones running a poll so not really sure what the point of that comment was really. If it had been a guardian poll I'd have said the same thing. But it wasn't.

You liked him? Bloody hell, none so blind ...

onlythreenow · 20/10/2022 20:19

It baffles me the amount of people who seem to care about how “we” look.
“we would be a laughing stock” etc. really?

Can anyone really be that naive??

LauderSyme · 20/10/2022 20:21

NO!! This Government is a dangerously unfunny joke.

We need a General Election not another "leadership" contest.

It is incomprehensible to me how so-called intelligent grown-ups persist in entertaining the deluded ambitions of risibly unfit charlatans like Boris.

theworldhas · 20/10/2022 20:22

@JudgeJ
Not defending Boris about partygate at all but forcing him out has led to the current situation

No. if any one thing has led to the current situation it is Brexit, instigated by the crazy nutter half of the Tory Party - cheerleaded by Boris Johnson (purely for his own selfish reason as he was never a true believer). Brexit has put the handbrake on the economy, necessitated cuts, exacerbated the cost of living crisis, further soured relations with Scotland, seen all moderate Conservatives hounded out of government, and wasted millions of hours of time/energy.
Boris Johnson take a bow.

The fact that he's currently on holiday speaks volumes. Parliament had a long recess over the summer, the mourning recess, and the conference recess. They've sat for about three weeks since he resigned, including this week when he's chosen to go to the Caribbean.

He's a lazy self serving bellend.

Have a heart!

He only managed to have two holidays in the summer.

BarmyArmy22 · 20/10/2022 20:23

Oh good yes let's get him back an Trump too.

Has the world actually gone mad?!

theworldhas · 20/10/2022 20:25

Imagine being a lying, incompetent prick like Johnson, who left office the most hated PM of all time - yet still actually believing you are the “answer” to the issues facing this country. How deluded can a person be? He even eclipses Blair!
