Fed up of the cuts? Fed up of the mislead bigotry? This is your sanctuary. Unwind. Vent. Pop over to the frothers thread if you feel like getting organised and doing some proactive stuff or just chill out with a cup of builders tea in a polystyrene cup.

Welcome.

That is a deliciously frothy article. I had to Google Mark Steel though. I had no idea real people were in the SWP recently

Good article.
TeWi. Sorry, I hope things improve, rapidly.

OpinionatedMum · 25/01/2012 20:56

TeWi, sorry to hear that.

Scarletbanner · 25/01/2012 21:23

Evening all. Sorry about your friend's dh, Te, and fingers crossed.

Now, [tea] Wine or maybe rum? And a burger with plastic cheese please. But only if there are veggie burgers?

Is the yurt still up? (it's been a long day, too knackered to rough it)

KatieMiddleton · 25/01/2012 21:38

You dont have to let go of MmeLindor. Keep it

So Bloomin dark this morning and raining.

CardyMow · 26/01/2012 07:42

I don't have to go out in the cold this morning. . With DS2 at home until either chickenpox stops going round the school, or the end of the 4-week wait after he's finished his course of prednisolone, anyway. DD getting sorted much better without the pesky inconvenience of her brothers 'looking at her', she gets ready much quicker, sans meltdowns. And DS1 was at his dad's last night, so his dad gets the thrill of a soggy school-run!!

How do you 'unhide' a thread? Don't want to get sucked back in, but am feeling a bit braver than last night, and there is one point I wish to clarify before rehiding my thread. Alouisee was pointing out cheaper childcare places, like the University Nursery. Just wanted to point out to the idiots people on that thread that it is THREE buses away from me...

CardyMow · 26/01/2012 07:44

MmeLindorAndHaggis...?

CardyMow · 26/01/2012 07:52

Those 3 buses would have a journey time of, erm, lets see...45 minutes on the first bus. Then assuming all buses on time, the next bus would be due after a 14 minute wait. That bus has a 22 minute journey. Then there is a 25 minute wait time. Then a 12 minute journey. So a total travel time of 118 minutes - which is over the 90 minute journey time to WORK that even the DWP say is the longest that is 'reasonable' to expect. And that would just be to get my DC to childcare. If I worked in the town, you would then have to add on an extra 59 minutes to get to WORK!! Giving a total journey time of 177 minutes, or nearly 3 hours. One way. Hmm. YES Alouisee. everyone can manage THAT by public transport...

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 09:07

Hunty - DO NOT GO BACK ON THAT THREAD.

I mean it.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 09:10

Because - I I am saying this with love - you know the way we just absolutely refuse to believe that the cuts and caps and bastardness of it all is OK?

Some refuse to believe that it IS OK and it doesn't matter how much you point stuff out, or show stats, or prove that there are only 463,000 job vacancies vs 2.6m (or whatever the figure is today) They can't/won't hear it - the same way as we WON'T hear their POV.

No point keeping on about your own personal shit on that thread Hunty, because the sharks can smell your blood and have zero compunction about using it as a stick to beat you with.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 26/01/2012 09:10

whoops - some people believe it IS OK. duh

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 09:13

yy wot Shirl said. With knobs on.

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 09:14

MN have asked me (very nicely) to stop doing shooting and disembowelling threads. There are complaints. Perhaps we should be complaining about the vile bile the right-eous are posting?

Dawndonna · 26/01/2012 09:20

Aww, I was enjoying those threads, Hully.

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 09:25

Satire. Snot appreciated these days.

Hullygully · 26/01/2012 09:25

I think the Bashers complain because it makes them look bad...er, maybe because they ARE bad.

CardyMow · 26/01/2012 09:26

But it is a joke thread?! How can you be asked to stop trying to have a SoH in the face of all that is going on politically? Or is that too entitled, having a sense of humour?? They leave disablist comments to stand...

And don't worry, Shirl. As I am technologically incompetent, I can't figure out how to 'unhide' the thread anyway!
