This is the 3rd thread in a series.

It is for people who are horrified, frustrated and downright sad at the erosion of human rights with respect to how this country is being run, just now and in the recent past

it is apolitical in nature, but of course due to many recent initiatives by the recent govt, there will be rants against our current "leaders"

please join in

I shall post the link to the old threads, our "Too Many Cuts #Frothers" blog that is attracting a lot of widespread attention and a little bit of what we are about in a moment

FontSnob · 08/12/2011 20:17

Kate, have just seen it on the laptop, looks great, loads much better too. Well done. Sorry for being lame. Do you want the login details for the Statcounter account? I get a little addicted to watching the numbers!!

KateFrothers · 08/12/2011 20:27

Don't be daft you've done lots of stuff Font. Glad you like it.

I think if I had access to the stat counter I would never do anything but watch it so in the interests of my household income and sanity I am going to say no Grin

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 08/12/2011 20:29

Just checked out the blog!

I can see screaming faces in the froth!!

LOVE. IT.

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 21:36

Erm - so is it written into the Welfare Reform Bill that they won't be taking maintenance out of Universal Credit pound-for-pound then? Because that's NOT what Gingerbread, the CAB and the IFS paper says? Tianc - have you found that info anywhere else other than niceguy2's DWP link?

I don't trust the DWP to give entirely accurate information, they're not going to want to make it public knowledge in advance that they will screw people over, are they?

And even if they aren't doing that straight away, if it isn't written directly into the Welfare Reform Bill - then they can still do it at ANY point in the future.

What do Gingerbread, the CAB, CSA Hell and the IFS know that the DWP aren't telling, if they are saying something different?

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 21:37

(I'm back from the carol concert btw, and my DS's sang beautifully ).

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 21:53

WTF? My Twitter looks all different, and I can't make head nor tail of it now. FFS! I'd only just learnt how to use it properly.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 08/12/2011 21:54

mine looks the same, HC

OP posts:
Tianc · 08/12/2011 21:58

No, I can't find any reference to it except in Niceguy's link.

But every doc I look at is a list of amendments to a previous draft or bill, and when I go there, it's another list of amendments or a bill where the amendments clearly don't fit.Confused

To be clear about what I'm looking for, the issue is the possible deduction of maintenance from UC?

Because I can't find mention of this on the Gingerbread website either.

I may just be confused - and certainly this evil could happen in the future, and I believe did in the past. Baroness Hollis says in the above Lords debate, "I remember defending our intentions on the 2000 legislation in front of the committee chaired at the time by the noble Lord, Lord Kirkwood. We found it difficult to persuade the Treasury to budge beyond a £10 hand-back to women, so we could never get women to co-operate in setting the CSA on their old partners, as there was little in it for them."

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 22:14

Let me get the Gingerbread link - it's under campaigns. I DID read that in a previous paper - but that was just a discussion RAISING this issue in the House of Lords - there was an amendment tabled but nothing to say it actually was amended IYSWIM.

The only problem I have with linking to two of the documents where I have seen this info is that they are online PDF files - and I don't know HOW to link to online PDF files. Showing my techy crapness yet again.

I should be able to link to the Gingerbread thingy, if I can find it again, and if anyone would be so kind as to tell me how to link to a PDF, it'd be greatly appreciated!

KateFrothers · 08/12/2011 22:18

Grin Shirl

Tis the magic eye of blogs!

ShirleyKnot · 08/12/2011 22:21

If you're downloading a pdf then I presume you're clicking on a link Hunty? You should be able to link the link I think

OK people - I Should have a little free time tomorrow at work (shhhh) and hopefully the abysmal broadband will be up and running so I'm going to attempt a blog post - The only problem is picking a subject.

Ah, I guess there'll be something on BBC Breakfast tomorrow morning that will set my little frothing heart alight, it seems that we're in a daily deluge of shite - why should tomorrow be any different?

Wink
KateFrothers · 08/12/2011 22:23

Hunty you can upload files at www.keepandshare.com

You'll need to register but it's fairly straightforward and you can make documents visible to the public. And it's free.

Tianc · 08/12/2011 22:27

Can't find it mentioned in any IFS report. The only likely report I can find is ""Child and working-age poverty from 2010 to 2020", Oct 2011. This only mentions child maintenance as an assumption in calculating household incomes.

Of course it would be very good news if there were no imminent threat to deduct maintenance pound for pound from UC.

God knows the planned charges are more than enough to create a disaster...

ShirleyKnot · 08/12/2011 22:34

at Tianic.

The stuff they're trying to push through is shit enough to cause frothing TBH - this added "bonus" is just Shock

TheMouseRanUpTheClock · 08/12/2011 22:39

It will all be about the Euro and the storms on BBC breakfast tomorrow!

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 22:40

IFS Report - I will try to do that Keep and share thingy - I have the IFS report saved as a PDF file (as well as the CAB one). Can't find the right bit on Gingerbread, think I need more sleep. Blush. If I can't work out this keep and share thing - can I email the PDF's to you (just PM me email addy). I think I emailed them to Lubey earlier, I can manage that. Grin

It's pg 24 in the IFS doc, and the CAB doc talks about it, as well as being very interesting anyway.

ShirleyKnot · 08/12/2011 22:43

Hello mousie sweetheart! You're right tomorrow Charlie and Susannah will be all "Oh my GAWD!! Have you seen about the Euro crisis and that?"

TheMouseRanUpTheClock · 08/12/2011 22:46

Hunty, I was given Frothers email earlier, and have pm'd it to you!

Hello Shirley, how do you know it is going to be Susannah, I have never any idea who is on what days?

I have question time on at the moment, they are going on about the Euro! Someone described, German PM driving a car, France PM reading the map, Camron in the boot bound and gagged! Now they said how can you trust somone who stabs their own brother in the back! Grin

KateFrothers · 08/12/2011 22:47

Yup you can email them to me. Do you have my address? If not pm me. I'm on phone but once the boy is asleep I can get on laptop and upload.

CardyMow · 08/12/2011 22:47

I seem to be uploading the files on Keep and share dot com, will post again when they are done. It may take an eternity though, as my net isn't broadband, I use a dongle. I am on as Huntycat, and the files are called 'IFS Universal Credit Document', and 'CAB Universal Credit paper'.
