This is the 3rd thread in a series.

It is for people who are horrified, frustrated and downright sad at the erosion of human rights with respect to how this country is being run, just now and in the recent past

it is apolitical in nature, but of course due to many recent initiatives by the recent govt, there will be rants against our current "leaders"

please join in

I shall post the link to the old threads, our "Too Many Cuts #Frothers" blog that is attracting a lot of widespread attention and a little bit of what we are about in a moment

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 12:55

Have tweeted India Knights, she is good on stuff like this.

What about the journos who have written about this already?

Glitterknickaz · 13/12/2011 12:56

Mme Lindor the Indy article I did the interview for?
Contact a Family contacted every paper out there, television news. The Indy was the only one that picked it up.

The media don't want to know.

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 12:58

I have tweeted Nina Lakhani.

India Knight already RTed.

Glitterknickaz · 13/12/2011 12:59

That's fabulous, mme.
Now I have nina's twitter I've managed to say thanks Smile

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 13:00

Did I link to the thing about the newspapers?

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 13:01

Yes, I did. The Monbiot story. Very interesting read about the motives of the press.

Lots of RTing going on thanks to India Knight.

AvadventKalendar · 13/12/2011 13:25

Am rting to everyone on the link I posted bottom of page 18 about the EDCM but also with frothers hashtag.

Glitterknickaz · 13/12/2011 13:25

thank you Avadvent

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 13:51

Just noticed that we are just over 650 hits from 10 000 hits

Can we break through today?

CardyMow · 13/12/2011 13:55

Am here for a short time. Couldn't cope with any more frothing last night - was pre-menstrual and very stabby, first one in over 18 months...

I am going to try to do something with the maths later, maybe a couple of TC vs. UC calculations for someone with dc with disabilities, few different permutations, I'll see what I can do.

On the Blog post about (normal) TC's vs UC, it may take a while - there's soooo many permutations of things, that it gets a bit complex, and there'll always be a few situations that I haven't covered...I am wondering if maybe I can use that keep and share thing to put up as many calculations as I can, and start a seperate thread with a link or something?

That way, it can be seen by more people. And people can go on the thread or PM me details, and I can do personal calcs if need be. I don't advise it though. It'll scare you shitless. I have tried to bleach my brain of my own...

KateMiddlet0n · 13/12/2011 13:57

Hello everyone. I did have a look in earlier but due to mammoth thread I couldn't write a message very easily on the phone.

Nearly time for a new thread!

CardyMow · 13/12/2011 14:00

Oh - and the reason most people don't know about this? Because it's not as if the media are being very forthright about the truth of UC, and most on benefits don't buy newspapers or watch the news. If your TV viewing consists of CBeebies, and you don't read the papers, and you aren't even online - how the hell are you MEANT to know?

And it's not as if the DWP are telling us either. I am in receipt of Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Income Support. I have not had any letters telling me about the changes - I assume we will get no information AT ALL sent out to us until the WRB has been passed. And it won't be until then, when it is too late, that people will REALLY start shouting.

But that's a good way to prevent people from campaigning against the changes to the benefit system - keeping them uninformed until it is too late...

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 14:04

I agree Hunty - they have no intention of telling anyone until the deal is done, and the press don't seem to give a shit.

Obviously the poor and the ones being most heavily plastered here, but the figures for still being eligible for childcare element WTC (equivalent) are really low - masses and masses of people who might assume this is nothing to do with them are going to get a nasty shock.

I can see exactly why this and the sure start closures are going to push hundreds of thousands more children into poverty.

CardyMow · 13/12/2011 14:06

Can I start the new thread, can I, can I? I have a Christmas-themed title -

"I'm dreaming of a frothy Christmas".

Gwan, letme, letme, letme!!

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 14:06

Is there anything I can do today btw? I am locked in th house (long story!) and DD is ill so available to help.

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 14:06

Grin g'wan then Hunty you do it!

KateMiddlet0n · 13/12/2011 14:17

Yes but please put the blog, facebook and twitter hashtag in the OP.

Perhaps Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Frothy and Triumphant ?

It would be nice to attract some of those who posted on, the first thread.

Peachy · 13/12/2011 14:23

There's something floating around FB as well about lord freud moving on to widow's benefits, but FB crashed and I never got to find out the details (said telegraph but I can't find it on Telegraph site, although I suspect that site and I are mutually allergic).

KateMiddlet0n · 13/12/2011 14:24

Yes I saw that on Twitter peachy. They're next. I RT'd something for @TMC_frothers

CardyMow · 13/12/2011 14:25

"I'm dreaming of a Frothy Christmas, Too Many Cuts, #frothers"

AvadventKalendar · 13/12/2011 14:27

Ok I've done a lot of RT today, if you click on the #frothers hashtag and select all, you'll see who I have targetted so far, but am rapidly running out of spoons though so will do some more later. I wish I could do something more constructive to help Sad I'm in awe of you guys.

Also RTing for the vote of no confidence FB event which I feel is something easy for people to be able to do that should make a noticeable impact.

MrsHuxtable · 13/12/2011 14:27

I'm just starting to look into this issue as we have DD1 due in 8weeks time. I don't really understand our situation. DH is a full-time PhD student.
Would that mean that he counts as not working at all and therefore I have to work all these hours by myself? How does that work while I'm on maternity leave?

I also keep reading about children over 5. What happens if you have children under 5?

Where is all this information about the Tax Credit Changes outlined in detail? I thought we had the financial side of things figured out til DH finishes said PhD in 2013 but obviously not. Am very scared now.

CardyMow · 13/12/2011 14:33

I'll look into it tonight, MrsHuxtable. But I might be on the new thread. I'll try to PM you whatever I find out about PhD's and Uc...

KateMiddlet0n · 13/12/2011 14:33

Mrs H, while you are on maternity leave you are still employed on your previous terms and conditions. So if you were full time employee before, you're a full time employee now.

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 14:35

Are you on official Maternity Leave from an employer MrsH? If so you are still legally 'working' whatever contract you were doing before hand, and this will be the case until 1 year after you left for Maternity Leave. If so are you getting any maternity pay from your employer? This will be your income for the tax year.

Student parents is horribly complicated, but I might be able to help as we did this.
