This is the 3rd thread in a series.

It is for people who are horrified, frustrated and downright sad at the erosion of human rights with respect to how this country is being run, just now and in the recent past

it is apolitical in nature, but of course due to many recent initiatives by the recent govt, there will be rants against our current "leaders"

please join in

I shall post the link to the old threads, our "Too Many Cuts #Frothers" blog that is attracting a lot of widespread attention and a little bit of what we are about in a moment

George Monbiot in the Guardian this morning.

"Though benefit fraud deprives the exchequer of £1.1bn a year while tax avoidance and evasion deprive it of between £40bn and £120bn, the tabloids relentlessly pursue the petty crooks, while leaving the capos alone."

That bears repeating a few times.

blackoutthexmaslights · 13/12/2011 07:43

morning all

had a bad night with dd teething so i have written a strongly worded letter to my MP, she is a tory so i'm not expecting a reply anytime soon

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 07:47

Who wrote the blog post about teachers? It is excellent.

Off to read about the HoL decision. Missed that last night. I have taken to not watching news/reading newspapers after 9pm as I get so frothed up and angry that I cannot sleep.

OpinionatedMum · 13/12/2011 07:57

Don't watch Easteners either.

Benefit fraud storyline last night.

What about a storyline about how you can't get incapacity benefit even when you have cancer? No, it has to be fraud. Angry

OpinionatedMum · 13/12/2011 07:57

Eastenders

MmeLindor. · 13/12/2011 08:01

I never watched Eastenders either.

Can anyone link to the story about the HoL?

Glitterknickaz · 13/12/2011 08:22

Ok I'm beavering away, should be ready later this morning. Need a snappy title though, it's all to do with the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign.

Really great post glitter. Get sharing everyone!

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 09:44

Okay, following a post of the other blog I think we should do a 'sample' of the before and after for a family with 2 disabled children.

Hunty are you around - oh fab at maths person?

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 13/12/2011 09:49

on the other thread about EDCM I meant.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 13/12/2011 10:03

Have commented on your post, glitter. Thanks for writing it. It must have been painful for you to do.

It wasn't the best, particularly as I had other stuff going on at the time. I had to do it though. To not do it I would feel I was letting my kids down.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 13/12/2011 10:41

It was fine. We are not all journalists. I have no background in writing for public consumption (probably evidenced by my own contribution Xmas Smile )

All voices are equally relevant

Are any of us journalists? Grin

I think it's the passion that matters.

FontSnob · 13/12/2011 12:15

Hi all,we need to start to organise the blog so that articles can be found easily, am just trying to find some info to pass onto a friend and with the titles it is hard to know what info is what iyswim. Can we catagorise the blog posts? Great entries everyone.

Also, Hunty why don't people know anything about the changes and introduction to UC? I have a single parent friend who will, i presume, be hit by these changes but she know nothing about them. How is that possible?

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 13/12/2011 12:24

excellent post Glitterknickaz.

I think categorising blog posts would be an excellent step - it would make it easier to use, especially as time goes on.

AvadventKalendar · 13/12/2011 12:34

Marking my place as I get lost as this thread goes so fast!

Just noticed someone tweeted to Eddie Izzard - I know he is interested/involved in politics, as is Kirstie Allsopp so I have tweeted her - anyone know any other high profile celebs who are active in politics who we can harangue?? Regardless of their actual political stance.

Glitterknickaz · 13/12/2011 12:55

The really scary thing is that due to right wing press public perception of benefit fraud is that it costs this country 19 TIMES what it actually costs. Now £1billion is a lot of money to lose via fraud, but it's not the £19 billion the negative press has made many people believe it is.

I agree that benefit fraud has to be combatted, but this cut won't do anything to solve that. All it will do is make my family and families like mine struggle.
