Politics

I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

Oh and check out this quote in that article "Austen's understanding of personal morality, Dickens' righteous indignation, Hardy's stern pagan virtue"

Shock Shock

No great surprise that they want a return to pre-war Britain. After all we were all in our place back then weren't we?

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:28

The Department for Education estimates the cost of the scheme at £375,000 Fuck me. That's a lot of money for Gove's vanity project Shock

I object to the cost and I object to the principle. If Gove wants to make a gift let him pay for it himself.

Thank you JuliaScurr (and others) I had not seen those websites/organisations prior to today. I think the worst thing is, I HAVE to have support off someone else, I just cannot cope without help during holiday periods as I have other children and I have no family for hundreds of miles who can be of any assistance. You know I feel bad enough for not being able to cope with my own family, but I am not super human, but then i get somebody who should be on my side sitting in my home criticisng my parenting and saying it's all about that but offering no assistance, just a course for parents of neuro typical non disabled children. It makes me feel terrible and it makes me feel a terrible mother, but then i think really if my parenting was so awful would they really just put me on a parenting course without any respite or support to go into the community with her, would they really do that?

I have had to give up work as well because of having no support. I have always worked. I feel absolutely demoralised

FontSnob · 30/11/2011 18:30

Oooh Gove, my favorite. He has wonderful ideas about the educations system, he knows it really well and he definitely knows how to communicate with the children and young adults who we teach.

Oh wait

No.

ShirleyKnotThroneOfJudgement · 30/11/2011 18:36

The article does say they're looking for "sponsorship" to fund the bibles...

I guess my point is the almighty brass neck it takes to write a foreword to the BIBLE while pushing "Free Schools" and slashing teachers' pensions.

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:40

Maybe a nice Creationist group? The kind that are itching to run a free school...

Mr Gove is supposed to be talking at the Headteachers' Conference tomorrow.

I wonder what the reception will be like? Grin

KnottyLocks · 30/11/2011 18:44

Wonder if he'll dare mention irresponsibility Hmm

Oh I do hope so.

Hullygully · 30/11/2011 18:44

I hate him. I hate hate hate him and his nasty rubbery lips.

Let alone the utter shite he spouts.

Hullygully · 30/11/2011 18:45

So we've got Gove's Bible and Lansley's face on constant beam at every hospital bed.

WTAF

KnottyLocks · 30/11/2011 18:45

He is Gollum...but turned to the dark side.

BIWI · 30/11/2011 18:47

Every time I see him I think I hate him a little bit more. And then I think it's not possible to hate him any more. Then I see him again and realise that more hate is definitely possible.

KnottyLocks · 30/11/2011 18:48

Gollum

Gove

Hullygully · 30/11/2011 18:48

infinite well, biwi, infinite well

BIWI · 30/11/2011 18:50

Do you mean I have to go deeper, hully?

Hullygully · 30/11/2011 18:51

I have just been explaining politics to the dc. It went something like: There's fucking cunt Shiny Dave and arse wipe wanker bastard Gideon...They were well impressed.

Hullygully · 30/11/2011 18:51

No, I mean there will always be more hate

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:53

I have just read a page of the Autumn Statement regarding changing employment rights.

I am a gnat's whisker away from a full on froth. When you know people who have been treated badly and discriminated against by an employer it defies all logic to spend money on a consultation to make it easier for the bastard employers to be bastards Angry

OP posts:
KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:55

It also makes me despair that good employers hard work is being disregarded as unimportant and a hindrance to business. Treating people well who work for you is never a hindrance to business. Ever. AngryAngry

I have an admission to make. I got interviewed by the local press at today's protest. I flopped. Im not convinced I said anything sensible. I blame all the frothing that I've been doing. I did manage to get in that I wasnt just striking over pensions. But I had soooooo many good things to froth to them about and I failed to be articulate. Argh.

I suppose they wouldn't have quoted me saying Gove is a massive cunt anyway. My name is going to be mud at school if anything I did say gets quoted!

PoppyDoolally · 30/11/2011 18:56

Spot on, Hully.

FontSnob · 30/11/2011 18:57

Oh my god Golum and Gove ARE the same. Thanks knotty. Explains a lot!

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:59

FontSnob I'm sure you were grand. You have passion.

ShirleyKnotThroneOfJudgement · 30/11/2011 19:02

Font - I'm SURE you were fine. I started frothing driving home tonight as radio 4 interviewed well spoken parents complaining about having to fin alternative childcare.

OH! Poor devils - the babysitter's weren't in today. Those babysitters who also educate for less pay and pensions than...oh let me think...a purchase ledger clerk in The City.

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 19:08

I saw a woman interviewed on telly this morning who was having to look after her own children today (how awful...)

She said the teachers were being "just spiteful" by striking

that's a good'un

has anybody just seen Jeremy Fucking Clarkson on The One Show, btw ?

he was being very obviously antagonistic for no reason...getting desperate, methinks
