I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

what they are doing to disabled people and their families behind the scenes is appalling. My daughter is very severely disabled in allsorts of ways and at 12yo I had her care package cut altogether and was told by my waste of space social worker that I had instead got to go on a parenting course to control her behaviour Shock

it isn't just her behaviour that's a problem (she can't help it she has a severe learning disability and autism) but she is also very complexly phsically disabled as well.

None of this gets reported because the people dealing with this (us as carers) are too worn out, distressed and often ill ourselves to have any voice whatsoever

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 17:40

you said you were leaving i believe. jog on.

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 17:40

hehe Harriet

I saw a couple of notices posted on the inside of office windows (strangely though, those offices were unmanned...)

"we won't pay for your greedy pensions"

during the course of our march down two of the most highly-populated with private-enterprise offices in manchester (Deansgate and Oxford Road), which lasted from 11am to 2:30 pm, there was no work done by those private sector employees

a strike in all but name Smile

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 17:42

i'm sorry about your dds situation fio.

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 17:42

fio I am sorry too, and I hope your health can be salvaged x

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 17:43

so you think they were deliberately supporting the strike then af? or am i misreading you?

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 17:49

I don't know, saf

Maybe some of them were consciously supporting it

Maybe some them were, because they downed tools to watch/clap/wave at us, they were supporting it on a less concious level

It gave a me a good feeling though

until today, I had been getting very despondent about the underhand "divide and rule" manipulations being employed by our leaders, aided by our media

I saw very little evidence of any success with that today

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 17:51

sorry, , my post before last was a bit confusing

there is 2 halves to it really

the paltry couple of "anti" posters

but a huge amount of outright support demonstrated in other ways

a good thing

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 17:51

well hopefully people have the sense to see that cutting your pension won't make their pension any better it will just pave for the way for even shitter provision for everyone.

none of this is rocket science.

i do hope people are waking up. huge well done for rallying. wish i'd been out there.

AnyFucker · 30/11/2011 17:58

saf, the atmosphere was indescribeable

I took dd, 16. She felt the same.

I wish you could have been there too.

It was quite a big thing for me, to see comments like "greedy public sector workers", "lazy people taking the opportunity to have a day's Xmas shopping" etc etc

as a consummate professional, with 25 yrs of experience in a specialised field, who has taken a fair amount of abuse and seen some truly horrific things in the course of my work, those comments sting

you try to rise above it, but it gets under the skin

I saw no evidence of that mindset today

BIWI · 30/11/2011 17:59

Can I have a particularly putrid stream of spittle targeted at Michael Gove, please?

He is a twat of the highest order.

(BTW I have tweeted your blog, Shirley)

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 18:02

that was a putrid stream biwi? i'm afraid you're going to have to try harder.

they do sting AF. i was a teacher and a good one. i hated having to hear all the crap that gets said. re: you wanna try a 'real' job in the 'real' world. love to see them stand in front of 30 of some of the teenagers i used to work with and get through an hour and actually teach them.

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 18:02

I havent had chance yet to read up to date on what has been going on oday (had to finish essay)
BUT My plan of action is to nick KM's twitter line We the unheard are telling you the unelected (Con-Dems) that we have HAD ENOUGH #notinmyname #frothers and find as many MPs on twitter that I can and post it to them. Its gonna be a long haul but if it gets the message out, then we're half way there.
Dont know what others think to this idea?

JuliaScurr · 30/11/2011 18:02

fio It must be knackering. Contact your local anti cuts group anticutsprotests.co.uk coalitionofresistance.co.uk falseeconomy.co.uk

BIWI · 30/11/2011 18:03

Sorry, SAF

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 18:04

Btw I have seen you posted it to ed milliband but are waiting a response

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 18:04

come on biwi - let it out - deep breath and froth!

northernmonkey · 30/11/2011 18:05

Here is a list of just a few Wink

BIWI · 30/11/2011 18:06

I'm not sure I could articulate anything virulent enough without exploding ...

SardineQueen · 30/11/2011 18:07

Only just seen this thread.

I'll sit and froth gently in the corner if that's OK.

ShirleyKnot · 30/11/2011 18:11

Thanks BIWI you sweetheart (I've fiddled about with it a bit - it's just not quite right - GRR)

FIO - I'm so sorry, you are one of the many and it MAKES ME FUCKING SICK.

ShirleyKnot · 30/11/2011 18:12

Oh and WTAF was all that stuff earlier this week about every school getting a fucking BIBLE with a foreword in by Michael Gove...?

That right there, is an example of the amazing arrogance we're ALL up against.

swallowedAfly · 30/11/2011 18:15

seriously shirley? Shock

KateMiddIeton · 30/11/2011 18:18

I was brought up to respect books but if that's true about the Bibles I will make an exception and shove it up Gove's arse.
