I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

I was actually quite impressed by the Ed webchat. I've had far wishier washier answers from politicians before, and worse ones that bear no resemblance or relevance to the question asked at all. I think he did well in the limited time he had. I will grade the webchat a C+

I'm completely lost with what I'm doing now. So many things I want to get my teeth into and annoying things like work, parenting and eating keep getting in the way Angry

lubeybaublely · 02/12/2011 09:51

No actually I'll grant a B for the outright #frothers support he stated :o

Peachy · 02/12/2011 10:01

Today is Carer's Day.

Can somebody explain the blog thing in very small words to me? This week has been the week from hell and I suspect it would make a good blog posting for Carer's Day , but my brain stopped working yesterday.

Thank you.

WRT to Ed B except that he said he would look into the issues Hunty raised, and as exactly those issues were blamed for teh suicide of a vulnerable couple a few weeks ago (front page Metro article) then I am astounded if he is not aware. Apols it's a Socialist website, just first link I found here.

northernmonkey · 02/12/2011 10:04

I'm going to go through Twitter and the blog a bit later on this afternoon.
Just wanted to check in and see how things are going.

Today I just feel really pissed off, dont know why, I just think I'm fed up.

I'll hold my hand up and say I voted for Nick Clegg. I voted for him because he promised change. He has just gone ahead and stuck his head so far up DC's arse that he's probably more conservative than DC himself!!

If Nick Clegg or and Lib Dems for that matter, wanted to gain any respect back from his voters, he would drop out of the coalition.
Angry :(

MmeLindor. · 02/12/2011 10:05

Oh, and do we want to apply to the MN Bloggers Network? They can help us to promote it. I get a lot of hits from MN.

MmeLindor. · 02/12/2011 10:11

Peachy
Basically, the idea with the blog is to reach people who do not read MN.

We are a varied bunch here, with different areas of interest and expertise, so you can write for the blog about issues to do with DLA, for example.

If you are a registered blog contributor then you access the blog, write you post and publish - although we might want to have one or two admin people who have final publishing rights. Not to censor anyone, but to ensure that we don't have three blog posts one day and then none for a couple of days.

This might be interesting. Writers' Policy. We could do something similar.

Peachy · 02/12/2011 10:12

OK I will look thanks MMe

Want to write about carers; Grandad has deteriorated and is living in a hovela nd SSD refusing to go out; ilve been referred for emergency SSD provision after a mini breakdown and the end of the version of respite we set up for ourselves- nothing.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/12/2011 10:13

MmeL I think you should apply to the MN Bloggers' network, since this is where it all started.

I have followed lots of you and will do a #ff later on.

MmeLindor. · 02/12/2011 10:15

NM
I saw a poll yesterday with the huge drop in support for Lib Dems. They are dead ducks at the next election. Cannot remember where it was, or I would link to it.

northernmonkey · 02/12/2011 10:17

Started a new thread here
As AF said, its getting a bit busy here

northernmonkey · 02/12/2011 10:18

MmeLindor It does not suprise me at all.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/12/2011 10:19

The Guardian are very red faced about supprting them during the last election.

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 11:26

Twitter folk please can you message @suzanne_moore who is a Guardian journalist to write about the frothers and otherss like us? She is feeling disillusioned too. Please link either to this thread, the Ed thread or the blog.

Monkey is the new thread a space for planning or a more general "I've had enough thread" like this? If its the latter we may need to ask MNHQ to tweak the title so it doesn't look too quiche-y and really approachable for those who don't know we are people like them (did that make any sense at all? Am flu-y and likely to ramble and miss the point Sad).

PetiteRaleuse · 02/12/2011 11:27

She's also a Daily Mail journalist

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 11:28

See?! Told you I was losing it! Not Monkey at all, is lovely Lubey

PrincessFiorimonde · 02/12/2011 11:30

Frothing sufficiently to actually create a Twitter account yesterday. Shock
Catch up with you later.

ShirleyKnot · 02/12/2011 11:35

CSA changes

Please can we add this to our frothing? This government are proposing that single parents should be charged to arrange child maintenance with NRP.

It is outrageous.

I have started a thread in campaigns, but I really, REALLY, feel so strongly about this that I think it's definitely worth fighting on two fronts.

Honestly, I could CRY.

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 11:45

I think it's completely what we're about Shirley. We're anti shitting on people and garnishing wages direct like a student loan repayment sounds like a bit of solution to me.

Tianc · 02/12/2011 11:49

Can I, just at the end of this thread, slip in Thanks for everyone?

Sorry, I haven't contributed because I'm going through the "curl in a corner and cry" part of actually giving a shit.

Big thanks to all those who've been braver and more useful.

ShirleyKnot · 02/12/2011 11:54

I've blogged it.

I haven't added the link to the campaign I'm trying to kick start here on MN as there's a link in there to some pretty personal stuff where people haven't nc.

This is stuff an emotive subject I'm going to speak to MNHQ to change my OP and title and to remove the link to an old thread before I start putting it out there.

SenseofEntitlement · 02/12/2011 11:59

Would love to be involved in some way if I can, and quite happy to add the site to the Camel's Hump links list which will happen when I get round to it Blush

My twitter is @aliciajduffy, and the Camel's Hump one is @HumpCamel

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 12:01

Tianc you big softie Grin. There is absolutely a place for everyone. Frothers, CIACAC (curl in a corner and cry-ers), those in despair and those in panic.

We are not just about blogging and tweeting and making noise - we are about support and understanding too. In fact it was the reason I wrote the first post and started the thread because I knew there were at least two others who felt worn out with it all and I wanted to say "no it isn't you, there is something very very wrong". The sentiment is still there. The only differences is all of your are here too! Astounding, unexpected and utterly, utterly marvellous.

Every person who signs in matters. Thanks to all of you for making me feel better and giving me this wonderful outlet for my rage.

KateMiddIeton · 02/12/2011 12:16

Shirley that is a fucking brilliant blog post. I am a bit snotty tearful reading it in a "wow aren't you amazing" and "thank fuck for people like you" way.

SEN thank you that would be great. I will follow you now.
