I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

Thank you. It's a bit ragged in parts but I think I get the point across. The Angry point!

WillbeanChariot · 02/12/2011 13:39

Hi again- I don't get much time on MN but I do want to be a part of this! Took DS to the TUC march on Wednesday, it didn't feel like a damp squib to me. Lots of people I speak to are really angry without a focus for it.

There was a news sheet at the march from the Coalition of Resistance which I thought was interesting- bringing lots of groups together campaigning against cuts.

Is there any point getting Twitter if I haven't got a smart phone?

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 02/12/2011 13:58

I use twitter just on my laptop and it's fine, you can dip in and out just like you can with MN.

CardyMow · 02/12/2011 14:25

I'll happily do a blog post tomorrow on the catch-22 of being too well to claim ESA, but too ill to claim JSA.

Can't do it today, have to leave in a minute for DS's Christmas fair, have to pick up DS's from school at 3pm, run to pick up DD at 3.15pm, then run back to the DS's school, as fair starts at 3.30pm. Wouldn't be so bad - but the school's are 25 minutes away from each other, and I only have 15 mins to do each journey. Confused.

But I will happily down tools for a bit tomorrow to do the blog post. If I can work out how to do it.

I don't have a smartphone either - more like an Ark phone - I Twotter on the laptop, I have the window open at the same time as MN, and it tells you with a little number in brackets if there has been a Tweet or two, so I can flick over, have a look, then come back to MN.

CardyMow · 02/12/2011 14:26

Typing fail - Twitter, not Twotter. Blush

LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 02/12/2011 14:38

HuntyCat I'm glad you are going to do that one. I'm waiting for my ATOS medical, yay, so feeling somewhat worried atm about all this, and wondering why they don't just ask my consultant like dla did....humphhh.

Twitter is...a bit quick isn't it...following lots of people now and it's interesting and stuff but I still don't quite get it...have retweeted things that seemed interesting. It is also a terrible time waster

Peachy · 02/12/2011 14:55

i've just read the gingerbread page on the proposed changes to csa Angry and frankly Sad

Sad because they really fucking hate us don't they? there's not even an attempt to hide it. single parents are already being over targeted by the cuts and now they want to take away 12% of our child maintenance and charge us to be allowed to even use the csa? so basically the principle that men should pay for their children and have a legal obligation to do so is gone under the tories? children should have to pay for the right to get maintenance and essentially pay a 12% tax on what they receive because feckless father's refuse to make a private arrangement and stick to it?

it really is a mix of Angry and Sad

what is the point of us living here you know? maybe there is no point in us paying taxes or taking a strong part in society if we're not even entitled to basic fucking rights and recognition? women - you don't mean much. single mum's - we couldn't give a flying fuck about you except to stop you existing so we're going to cut benefits, cut childcare elements for those who are trying hard to work and make ends meet, cut CB for those of you who manage to make it to hrt payer level even though you don't have a 'wife' to stay home and look after the kids and will possibly be paying £700pm in childcare after tax, can't find a job in your area that fits with childcare or in fact a job at all even though your child is at school? we'll cut your HB by 10% oh and while we're at all this we'll try and bring through tax breaks for married people.

disenfranchised much? yes.

why should we give a damn about a society and economy that does all that it can to make us and our children starve to death whilst demonising us in the papers and giving the absconding fathers a pat on the back and even more power to get away with paying anything at all economically, socially, or emotionally for their own children.

these changes are horrific. and they ARE personal - they are absolutely targeted at people like me.

swallowedAfly · 04/12/2011 09:41

seriously if i feel like this as someone who has had a really good education, who had a professional career and been part of one of the institutions of society at the coalface as it were of dealing with social problems and challenges and trying to be a part of making things work, as someone who has owned property and been 'in the game' of it all previously then how the fuck do they think young people who never had any of that are meant to feel?

i'm seriously disgusted.

this is throwing a big juicy bone to all the misogynists out there - hey we may be cutting things from you too boys after all times are hard but don't worry those bitches will have it worse than you and we'll help you get out of a few responsibilities regarding them and your kids. we might look rich and smarmy but we're here for you too boys Wink

fucking bastards.

perceptionreality · 04/12/2011 09:53

I agree, swallowedfly

swallowedAfly · 04/12/2011 10:03

i actually feel sick perceptionreality. what kind of society do you think you build on the back of treating women and children like shit? not one i want to live in.

tiredemma · 04/12/2011 10:12

Im outraged on so many levels. I can't even remember why I am outraged any more. Every report I read about these bastards sends me into a rage.

Every day I am more and more angry. I am even more angry when I am reminded (by myself) that they are an unelected Govt.

Its so utterly depressing to read more and more about how the most vulnerable of society are suffering because of this Coalition. The only thing that keeps me sane is the hope that they will not be in power after the next General Election.

The only real difference in my eyes between Dave Cameron and Robert Mugabe now is that one is white.

Tianc · 04/12/2011 12:53

I know, the unelected bit does my head in.

The "kingmaker" coalition party usually has disproportionate power over the larger party; it's one of the problems with coalition govt. The LibDems are behaving as though they have no power at all.

Either that, or Clegg actually shares many of Cameron's views, which I'm inclined to believe. I had my eye on him way before the election wrt disability changes, and you couldn't get a cigarette paper between him and the Tories.

AnyFucker · 04/12/2011 17:21

saf you should post that under twitter and the "frothers" blog/FB page x

swallowedAfly · 04/12/2011 23:41

I'm cross about Remploy, it kept a lot of disabled and SN people in dignified employment and gave them a sense of self worth and independence.
