Morning! Nearly Three Year Old For Sale - Any takers!!!!?

OP posts:
musicposy · 18/04/2010 15:52

Like to swap for a 14 year old who has taken 3 hours to do two words of her Latin homework, CaptainDippy? I'm up for it! I can offer you moaning, door slamming, lots of pleading, protestations that life isn't fair and sneaky sessions on facebook. What would you like me to take in return?

Thank you for all the support and prayers, everyone. I'm sorry I seem to come on here with endless gloom and disaster! I do feel a bit better - I think all the prayer is helping me to keep it together much more than I would otherwise. I know I have to have faith. DH had a good talk with the team leader at work yesterday who will vouch for him, and has been given the name of a really good union rep who will talk to him tomorrow. I am trying to keep faith that we will emerge from this difficult time.

DutchOma · 18/04/2010 16:45

MP How well you are doing.
Don't try to have faith, celebrate the faith you have, even if it as small as a mustard seed.
So glad to hear that your dh is given all the help there is to be had, we will go on praying for you all, even you dd's Latin homework. Some time since I had that to do.

Hermya321 · 18/04/2010 17:40

Praying for you all!

PositiveAttitude · 18/04/2010 17:43

CD & Music - I could add any of my 5 into the mix. Hormonal teenage girls, going very cheap, hormonal teenage boy very good at cooking, but cleaning after himself is sadly lacking!
Although this afternoon I dont think I'd swap them for anyone. We have been enjoying the last day before return to school. At least teenagers sleep in in the mornings too. Getting them out of bed tomorrow is going to be hard work!

Hope you have all had a good weekend.

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2010 21:20

Actually. I'm good thanks.

(I did do Latin 'A'Level though, so I might be able to help out a bit there)

ZipadiSoozi · 19/04/2010 00:23

CD - lol yip I can swap with my 14yo ds lovely young man same here - doing his homework last minute at 9.00pm agh!!!!!!!!! All about Spain project! in 1 evening!

Music - so sorry for you, prayers a plenty for your dh this week!

Small prayers for my dd, got whacked with a golf club above her eye/head NHS walk-in are concerned she has a headache, er wouldn't u have a headache I reply, apparently she shouldn't still have a headache, so we have to make sure she isn't unconcious throughout the night just stirring her without waking her, every half hour for a while then every hour! der, think I may not wake! anyway prayers for my beautiful little angel!

Night God Bless, don't let the bed bugs bite!

Sorry a bit Zippy, overtired sooz!!!!! fat chance of keeping me awake any longer! oh pants, ds2 is crying now - please God may I at least relax tonight! {{{{{{{whaahahahaha}}}}}}} now I'm gargar

RockinSockBunnies · 19/04/2010 01:39

Hello,

I've lurked on the prayer threads for a while now and wonder if I can say hello and ask to join them please?

At the moment I keep trying to keep a dialogue open with God and give thanks for all the good things I have in my life and not let stress overtake me. Which works for some of the time!

Could I possibly ask for prayers for DP who was made redundant at the beginning of the year and who is still looking for a job. It's so disheartening for all of us, especially since he's so talented and desperate to find work.

Am sending prayers to all those on this thread - hope Zipadi's DD's head is better following the golf club incident.

teaandcakeplease · 19/04/2010 09:28

Hello Rockin' praying for your dp.

Zipadi - how was your night is your dd ok? Praying x

madhairday · 19/04/2010 09:38

Morning all.

Zip praying for your dd.

(((Music))) glad dh has been able to talk to his team leader. What a difficult situation. Praying very much for you. Keep hanging on to God. He is in it with you. I know it doesn't feel like it right now.

Hi Rockinsockbunnies. Welcome, it's great to have you on board. Will pray for your dh. Seems there is so much uncertainty with jobs etc at the moment. Prayers for everyone struggling with this. xx

Mrs C, praying for exam stress.

CD, how are things today, hope things are better for you.

Hmm, well thought the ill dc thing had stopped but dd now has a facial rash and gunk leaking from ear. So off to the docs in a while. ds is much better thankfully.

Want to praise God. dh and I have started a new evening service (can't really call it a service, more of a gathering) once a month to explore different worship styles (church middle of the road c of e) and after a shaky start it is taking off, and we're getting a band together which is good as at first it was dh on guitar and me singing and we are not the most talented of worship leaders :D So want to thank God for blessing this, people are really meeting with him in deep ways which is awesome.

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2010 11:34

Awesome stuff MHD Hope DD is ok soon and that Dr can help!!

Nice to meet you Rockin'!! We're a friendly bunch and you are very welcome Prayers that your DH would find a great job ASAP, so sad to see a talent going to waste, isn't it? What does he do in the usual way?? xx

Oh Sooooooz!!!! Your poor poor DD I remember getting knocked out by my doubles partner in a badminton tournament in Cornwall when I was 13, it was horrid!! How is she??????? xx

OP posts:
MaryBS · 19/04/2010 11:46

Welcome Rockin, praying for work for your DH. I've now been unemployed for a year, but then I am quite picky about the hours I work, so I guess that doesn't help!

Sooz, hope the golf club is OK , how is DD now?

MHD, I love trying different alternative worship stuff, I love the Taize style of worship, with lots of silence and meditative music and prayer. I've also been putting together a fair amount of "visual intercessions", where we put up pictures suggesting what to pray for, rather than using words. Can be very effective! I'd love to share ideas if you are interested...?

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2010 11:58

Morning Mary

OP posts:
madhairday · 19/04/2010 12:07

Oh yes Mary. I'm really into visual worship, I do a lot of powerpoint stuff as alternative to usual intercessions/songs etc, would love to share ideas. We do a lots of 'Ignatian meditations' too, have you done those, they're v effective in getting you outside yourself a bit. Also love Taize, would actually love to go, my parents went and said it was the most unbelivably peaceful place.
I love the whole contemporary worship thing too. I'm keen to explore different styles in that and outside it. I would hate to be narrow - there is so much out there. My friend from Nigeria is going to teach us some stuff they do there. Think it makes for an interesting recipe to do the whole Redman/Hughes stuff with added bits thrown in from different traditions. Actually a friend is v v high church and while I used to be a bit scathing being generally of a low persuasion I'm really interested in how he worships. He is the most amazing spiritual person, so close to God, and he loves all this stuff with bells and vestments and colours and traditions. It's really fascinating me at the moment. I'm interested in incorporating a real mixture into a 'service' that becomes something entirely different, and pretty excited about it.

ZipadiSoozi · 19/04/2010 15:10

Whoah!!!! DD not too bad, off school today, so she could get her 24 hour quiet time, she is still in pain, but who wouldn't have a sore head. DS2 kept EVERYBODY awake till 3am sniffing and crying he was frightened he'd seen a fly!!!!! I was very exhaustion set in and I must have fallen asleep, so have had 3 sleeps today now school run then off to work!

Catch up with you all later, thank you for your prayers and support!

MaryBS · 19/04/2010 15:35

MHD - I love Ignatian spirituality, I developed an interest when my Spiritual Director kept saying things like "Oh thats very Ignatian", when I discussed things with her. I find it can be very intuitive, although sometimes it can be a bit too "off the wall" for me, when I've seen it applied. But at its heart, I relate very well to it. I also like some of the mystics and their writings - Julian of Norwich for instance. Also Celtic spirituality, Iona, and stuff like that too.

Interesting what you say about your high church friend, as I am high church too, and love all the sensory worship like incense and candles and music and symbolic imagery.

Not sure if you have my email address, but if you want to share stuff, you can contact me (just join it all up etc) on

RockinSockBunnies · 19/04/2010 15:40

Thank you for the prayers ladies, this is a lovely thread!

DP is an architect, which is problematic when nothing is being built during a recession . Am trying to stay positive and keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason, but it's so frustrating.

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2010 15:58

Poor Sooooz, glad DD seems to be on the mend. Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. xx

OP posts:
DutchOma · 19/04/2010 16:11

Welcome Rockin' Very glad to have you.
Yes that must be one of the hardest professions to be in at the moment, anything to do with the building trade.

Prayers for all dcs, being hit over the head or not.
And for all of you high church, low church or non denominational like PA and me.
And MJIM, but she is on holiday

madhairday · 19/04/2010 17:19

Thanks Mary. will email you

PositiveAttitude · 19/04/2010 19:55

Evening ladies, and welcome to rockin.

Prayers for you dd Sooz and for a better nights sleep to leave you all refreshed and ready to face tomorrow.

All this lovely talk about different sorts of worship. I love all the lively, jumpy about stuff, as well as the quiet meditiative reflections. I must admit the times when I have felt closest to God have been in the silence and have experienced amazing times, and on the other hand have felt as if I was really "praising with the angels" in vibrant jumpy times!

Here - DH has had a good weekend and did a long cycle race in the New Forest, so that cheered him. Still waiting for any guidance for job, life, etc. DD3 is doing really well health wise and is enjoying being able to be a "normal" teenager for short periods of time. New minister started nearly 2 weeks ago, but I have still not met him in either the office or at church. May meet him this week in the office.

Thanks

JentlyDoesIt · 19/04/2010 19:58

Evening all,

How is everybody? Hope dd is ok Sooz and you have managed to snooze a bit

Music - really praying for you my lovely for everything you have going on.

MHD - wow, that all sounds really interesting I go to quite a "high" C of E church and I do quite like all the sensory stuff too

First day back at work today - eeek. It went really well. I took some bits and pieces left over from DD's birthday party yesterday and the best sentence in the office was "Jently's back and she's bought cake!" Was good to feel a bit more useful again.

Off to lie on the sofa with the cat

musicposy · 19/04/2010 20:25

Hi there everyone and welcome to the thread, RockinSockBunnies! Prayers for your DP. It's a difficult climate to find work, especially, I imagine, as an architect.

ZipadiSoozi glad your DD is OK. We've had a couple of scares like that -DD1 smacked her head on the ice at the rink not too long ago. These things happen so easily. I had to watch her overnight too, and keep her very quiet for 24 hours. Her main gripe was she wasn't allowed to skate for 48 hours! I certainly wouldn't like to argue with a golf club, your poor DD! Prayers that she continues to do well.

madhairday glad to hear the general dcs illness is better but praying for your DD. Your new service sounds great! Praise the Lord that it's going well and may it continue to do so!

CaptainDippy - Latin A level! I wasn't allowed to do Latin at school, only the people in the top set for French were - I wasn't clever enough Both my DDs do it - I think they are very lucky (DD1 might disagree!).

Hi to all the other lovely people on this thread! Prayers for you all xx

First day back at work since the miscarriage today. It was much better than I anticipated. I have become so disinterested in work since all this that I really wasn't looking forward to it, plus I had to face telling a couple of people. But it went fine, everyone was very nice, I really enjoyed it and I've had a good day. Just one pupil to come in a minute and I'll be finished at 9pm. A lady from church turned up with a huge bunch of flowers (when I was teaching so I couldn't ask her in, unfortunately). I've known her years - she had grown up children. She told me she'd had 5 miscarriages. You just don't realise what people go through. But she was lovely and it is such a great feeling that people are thinking of me and praying for our family. Praise God, I know He is helping me through.

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2010 20:38

What a lovely thing for someone to do musicposy

OP posts:
ZipadiSoozi · 19/04/2010 22:44

music - I'm so glad everything went ok today, what a lovely bunch of people you work with, sounds like you are getting more support being back with people.

I know when I mis-carried triplets, I went onto auto-pilot, went back to work the next day, was the only way for me to cope, but still take it easy, we all cope in different ways.

Sometimes with a few tiny steps forward then a step back again, don't you just hate that saying "go with the flow" I prefer each day is a new/different day, prayers for you!

Thank you all for your prayers for my dd, she still has a headache tonight, but I am sending her to school tomorrow, sure she'll be fine, just keeping her on the Calpol for the next 24 hours see how she is then!

Prayers she is ok for her dance show on Wed night, bless her she is a cheerleader!!!
