Prayer thread for summer 2009 - My grace is sufficient

My grace is sufficient for you 2Cor 12:9
and
When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor 12:10

Reading through last month's prayer request I came across the first text quoted by M44 and it brought the second one to mind.
When I am weak.....when I cry out to the Lord to my sisters to please pray for me, when life is hard....then I am strong.
I counted more than 20 names in last month's prayerlist, more than 30 when I counted the names Dippy had mentioned at the beginning of her update, so I will only mention a few names here.

We pray for Anna and Findlay, where real miracles of the Lord are needed.
For M44's mother-in-law in hospital
For Weegiemum that the Lord may uphold her as only He can. For Marc and Suzanne on their wedding day.
For Boilerwoman that she may take her strength from the Lord.
For Jentlydoesit and her DP that God may bring good into a difficult situation. Giving thanks for the new job.
For Swaliswan and dd2.
For Onlyjoking in this season of remembrances and for the children who are suffering more now than a year ago.
For Clockface with exciting changes to come.

And at this stage, sisters, I call you together to prayer for one another.
You know who you are - beloved of the Lord.

Hi all just a quick one in work - feeling a bit better have bought wool and pattern to keep me distracted during the evenings. Prayers for all.

Good lunchtime ladies....am thinking of all the people who have posted on here. x

Just a quick update, had a really good meeting with DD1s teachers, they are very complimentary of her generally, its just that every so often they have this awful bad temper that seems to erupt. We spoke about some ideas to see if that helps....we will see! They are such lovely ladies, and DD1 enjoys going there, I am so thankful we found somewhere she is happy. They were very grateful that I had taken the initiative before the problem has gotten too bad...maybe I'm not the bad parent I thought I was!

LovingtheSilverFox · 02/07/2009 13:05

Oh - can I just ask for quick prayers, as I feel called towards a new job, it will mean training etc. and I am not sure if this is the right step...my life is very complicated anyway at the moment, and does He really want me to take this on??

KTNoo · 02/07/2009 15:19

Hello again, not been able to get internet the last couple of days so had a lot to catch up on today.

Firstly congrats to Mary! Suitably impressed here.

LTSF glad your meeting went ok. I have an explosive one here too, getting slowly better at controlling himself but today we had another whopper tantrum so shouldn't speak too soon.

Praying for wooljo and family - so sad for them and so grateful for my healthy and naughty dcs.

Somebody asked me to tell something about myself - I am a full time mum with 3 dcs aged 8, 6 and 3. We've been living abroad for the last 5 years due to dh's work, which is an exciting but sometimes stessful experience. About to move again, and because dh has already started the new job I'm alone with the kids until middle of August.

I have no church community where we are so really grateful for the support on here.

positiveattitudeonly · 02/07/2009 17:37

Hi everyone,

Interesting reading here. Quick introduction. Mum to 5dcs aged 17, 16, 15, 13 & 11. Youngest was adopted from Russia when she was 3. Married for 21 years today. First aniversary DH has forgotten, so I am enjoying him trying to make it up to me!!

My prayers are with woolyjo and family, having suffered the loss of a 1st DD at 8 days old, 20 years ago. Not sure how I would have coped without my faith at that time. Please remember them for many months to come.

DD1 is arriving home tonight for the weekend after moving away from home to work in Jnauary. Can't wait to give her a big hug.

DD2 is off to Durban to work with orphans/street kids for a few weeks next Tuesday. She is so excited and we feel this will really impact her future.

DD3 has been virtually bed bound for many months after being severely affected with CFS/ME. She had not stood for months and certainly had been unable to walk. We were feeding her every few hours. It was very difficult. She was prayed for on 8th June and the following day was absolutely delighted to be able to walk again. She has continued to improve steadily. We have a long way to go, but these first steps to recovery have been amazing!

DS is away in France on a school trip. Telephoned me from a friends mobile in tears on Sunday night saying he wanted to come home. Can't wait til tomorrow to hug him!

DD4 is delightful, but also has baggage from the first 3 years of her life being in a "closed" orphanage (ie: no hope of life, so don't bother.) Her health is good now, and many answers to prayer in her life.

Well that's my family. If you are still reading, thank you. I'd love to join you in supporting each other, praying for each other and sharing good and bad times.

Notquitegrownup · 02/07/2009 19:10

Wow - what an inspiring introduction PAO. Thank you for that, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY - to Mr PAO too. I'm sure that you will forgive him sooooon

Good to hear from you too PAO. I live in the middle of an English city and still found Mn invaluable for fellowship when the little ones were smaller!

Prayers for your job situation Silverfox. I am in much the same boat. Should I really be looking for work? What does God want me to do?

Hiya CD.

Thinking of you all, and a big thank you to God for bringing home my ds2 from an 'adventure' today. More grey hairs for me!

ZipadiSoozi · 02/07/2009 21:16

pao - wow, lots of dc! congratulations on your 21st anniversary! prayers for lots of homereturn hugs from your dc!

Notquitegrownup · 02/07/2009 22:25

Whoops. Got your name wrong KTNoo - apologies.

G'night all.

KTNoo · 02/07/2009 22:54

Don't worry NQGU.

PAO that sounds lovely having all thos dcs. Working on it myself - only 3 so far! How wonderful to hear of your dd's health improving.

positiveattitudeonly · 03/07/2009 10:16

Mr PAO has been forgiven, but I certainly had fun making him squirm and try to be extra nice to me all day!!
It is lovely having 5DC's and we feel very blessed, but sometimes the headaches are huge!! 4 hormonal teenagers in one house is not always the best for a quiet life!

All your DC's seem younger than mine, but I do remember the hurdles. The blessings outweigh the bad stuff, but sometimes very hard work and I always felt under so much pressure for them to always be angels, which was totally unfair on them and me. If you are known as a Christian I feel as if parenting skills are sometimes on show and there for others to criticise when things don't go to plan. We are human and so are our darlings, so relax and enjoy.

Love to everyone on here.

Notquitegrownup · 03/07/2009 11:17

Oh PAO that is soooo true!

WM, if you are around, I am wondering if you might ask Mr MW a quick cheeky of me question? DS2 is mildly asthmatic although once a year or so gets an episode when he is very wheezy and needs a blue inhaler several times a day, usually when he has a viral infection. Once he really really struggled to breathe and was given oral steriods by an emergency doctor. He is just 6 now.

Soooo, thinking about Swine Flu and knowing that asthmatics are vulnerable, should I be pushing my gp for a brown inhaler, ahead of the epidemic? Or for a spare pack of oral steriods to keep by us, just incase the emergency services are overwhelmed. Or is there anything else we might sensibly do to prepare ourselves (apart from prayer, of course.) (We're in the Thames Valley - hotbed for asthma in the UK)

Thanks in advance, Mr WM.

Good morning all.

frAKKINPannikin · 03/07/2009 19:27

Update: handing in my notice went horrible but I feel strangely fine about it and I'm flying on wings of faith!

Prayers for guidance for LTSF and NQGU

turnedupsidedown · 04/07/2009 01:44

please pray- I am someone you know but have changed my name. My marriage is in tatters- that is all I can say.

KTNoo · 04/07/2009 07:49

Praying for strength for you turnedupside down. If you can please come and post on here again.

Noquitegrownup my ds is also 6 and mildly asthmatic. Since we left Northern Europe for warmer and dryer climes he hasn't needed the ventolin once though. It's hard to make the decision to change the inhaler - don't know enough about it myself but i do know a few people who made the change and haven't regretted it, although their dcs were having frequent and severe attacks.

PAO I know what you mean about feeling your parenting skills are on show! It's important to have a group of close friends who your (and their) dcs can be little monsters in front of! (not very good sentence, sorry - not really awake yet).

Today we fly back to UK and leave our home in North Africa for good. It feels strange that we won't come back here. The dcs are handling it well I think - they are excited about seeing grandparents and not thinking about moving again after the summer. dh has already been in the new job for 2 weeks so I'm flying alone with my 3 monkeys! I do worry that so much change will affect them badly - we only came here 18 months ago.

ZipadiSoozi · 04/07/2009 11:33

turnedupsidedown - Full sympathy and prayers for you sweetie!!!!!!

Prayers for you, turnedupsidedown.
Words seem so pathetic, but please be assured of prayers. God knows your situation and also sees the outcome too. It is all in His hands. rest in His love.
