Prayer thread for summer 2009 - My grace is sufficient

My grace is sufficient for you 2Cor 12:9
and
When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor 12:10

Reading through last month's prayer request I came across the first text quoted by M44 and it brought the second one to mind.
When I am weak.....when I cry out to the Lord to my sisters to please pray for me, when life is hard....then I am strong.
I counted more than 20 names in last month's prayerlist, more than 30 when I counted the names Dippy had mentioned at the beginning of her update, so I will only mention a few names here.

We pray for Anna and Findlay, where real miracles of the Lord are needed.
For M44's mother-in-law in hospital
For Weegiemum that the Lord may uphold her as only He can. For Marc and Suzanne on their wedding day.
For Boilerwoman that she may take her strength from the Lord.
For Jentlydoesit and her DP that God may bring good into a difficult situation. Giving thanks for the new job.
For Swaliswan and dd2.
For Onlyjoking in this season of remembrances and for the children who are suffering more now than a year ago.
For Clockface with exciting changes to come.

And at this stage, sisters, I call you together to prayer for one another.
You know who you are - beloved of the Lord.

Agh!!!!! Just typed a whole load to catch up and lost it.

But...

Hia and prayers for you all.

CaptainDippy · 30/08/2009 15:10

The Power of Prayer for you, eh, MJIM!!? Works on all things - including washing machines!!

CaptainDippy · 30/08/2009 17:45

Cheeky request - any of of you with older DCs got any 6-7 yrs polo shirts, grey skirts, grey pinafores or a pair of size 11 black plimsolls??

Merci

positiveattitudeonly · 30/08/2009 20:39

Pleased about the washing machine MJIM.

Sorry CD all mine are a lot older here. I am sure you will be provided for though.
HAve trouble getting DS s school trousers. No shop has anything for anyone over 12 in grey. Why does our school have to be the only one who has grey for 13-18 year old???? He's not too keen to go back to school in his underpants so we are heading for another trip to shops tomorrow. I can't even get them online!!!

DD3 here seems to be heading for a relapse. Prayers would be appreciated that we all cope and that she wont be too ill this time round.
Many thanks.

Praying for you all x

I heard from our solicitor late on Friday to "touch base" before the bank holiday. She assured us our file had NEVER been off her desk, and she is truly on top of it . The latest state of play is that our buyer has taken his deposit into his solicitor, but not his signed contract, and has now (trying to think of a non swear word....) gone off on holiday! His sols are trying to get in touch with him to ask if they can start the ball rolling anyway....so we might exchange on Tuesday. They said that a while a go, but they are still talking about a 7th or 10th completion date. They presumably don't live in the real world, or function in a different time frame to everyone else!

Praying that everyone has a lovely BH, we had a great day out with my Mum and Dad, and the kids today!

Love to you all x

M44 · 30/08/2009 23:14

CD-have 2 pinafores age 8 but they are quite short so would probably be OK-Facebook me!

MaryBS · 31/08/2009 08:54

LTSF, I have an image of your solicitor sitting on the file, which is why she's not done much!

CD, I might have some suitable clothes, can't remember if I gave them to my SIL or if they are still in the bag where the grown-out-of clothes live...

PAO, I think Tesco do grey up to about aged 15, at least they do in girls. I've definitely seen charcoal grey, does it have to be the pale grey? Praying for DD3 and her health...

Did someone have a baptism this w/e? If so, how did it go . I did look and couldn't find it, so may have imagined it...

Would welcome prayers... have been feeling church has been more than I can cope with lately, putting on a front all of the time, but feeling I'd rather worship quietly on my own. There's no-one in our church I can really talk to about it (for some reason, being part of the ministry team means you have to be strong all the time, it seems) But, last night I went to a lovely service at our church, there were 3 of us plus the vicar, and we got to pick our own hymns, and praise in our own way, and it was really special. Vicar said we sang louder than the regular congregation . It was truly lovely.

weegiemum · 31/08/2009 09:00

Meant to come back and tell you abotu dd2's hip. Its not better Its going to be at least another 6 months of more of the same in terms of wheelchair, restricted activity etc.

Swaliswan · 31/08/2009 21:29

B was baptised yesterday! It was fab. We also had our wedding rings blessed as DH lost his ring almost a year ago and he now has a new ring. Praise God!

DutchOma · 31/08/2009 21:32

What a lovely post SS. How is B doing with her harness now?

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 01/09/2009 14:15

B is only in her harness at night time now and may only have another 4 weeks in the harness. She is doing really well. I can't believe that she will soon be able to wear sleep suits a grobag at nighttime!

Can I ask for some prayer for a few selfish things? DD1 is doing brilliantly with potty training during the day but she keeps on waking up at night having just done a wee in her pull ups. She then insists on having a go on the potty and new pull-ups (refuses to wear a nappy). DH has been dealing with this but it can't carry on with him getting up twice a night and this weekend he is away so I'll have to get up for both girls. I've got some sort of cold at the mo so I don't know how I'll deal with it.

Also, the survey for the house we are buying has some problems that we weren't aware of. We simply don't know now what to do and are in desperate need of some guidance from God. We can't keep spending money on buying this house if it isn't going to go ahead but there is nothing else on the market that is the right property for us.

CaptainDippy · 01/09/2009 19:41

Prayers for good nights and smooth house sales SS. xx

positiveattitudeonly · 01/09/2009 19:52

Just popping by. Prayers all round. God is good and cares so much about each one of us. I know you know that, but just wanted to remind you all.

Swaliswan · 01/09/2009 19:53

Any ideas of where to do a South coast meet up, Ladies?

CaptainDippy · 01/09/2009 19:59

Not sure, maybe a soft play somewhere your side of Brighton!!? Not had time to think yet .....

ZipadiSoozi · 01/09/2009 20:50

Hia,

SS - aw raw memories of getting up in the night for the twins, you have my full support and prayers winging their way to you keep strong, and prayers your cold goes.

CD - Did you get sorted with uniform.

Mary - So pleased you found peace in the service you had at church, can you request more of that sort? spose you can't realistically, but prayers you find a more relaxed service now and then. ooh that stiff upper lip, wide shoulders, must be hard for you, don't you get any support from a non-bias source, (like moi) if I can help just 'SHOUT' (literally) (course you should have the answer to every tom dick and harrys problems, and never get involved and upset you are a good samaritan arn't you) prayers for you 'sMARYritan'

JentlyDoesIt · 01/09/2009 20:52

Hello all,

Prayers for all for all those with GCSE, hospital and school results, house sales and moves and for the poorly sick...

Just a quick note - do many of you remember that my Granny died 2 years ago? (don't worry if you don't, I don't expect you to!) Well the house sale was completed last week, the day before the 2 year anniversary of Granny dying. This now means the whole estate can be tied up - am happy and sad IYSWIM ...

All ok here, DP's plea date has been put back again - sigh, now it's the 28th Sept.

Plans going ahead for my birthday party (the big 3-oh)

Much love and prayers xx

MaryBS · 01/09/2009 21:26

LOL Sooz, you are lovely! LOL at sMaryritan. I do get lots of support from you lovely ladies . I do have MP which can be quite comforting, albeit sometimes the vicar uses the time to chat and/or lecture rather than pray, which can be a pain...

Talking of support, have just heard that next month my brother is going to Afghanistan, as a counsellor with a charity . Please keep him in your prayers, that God brings him home safely to his family . His son took it pretty badly when he went to Iraq, kept dreaming his daddy got killed

JDI - big 30? You youngster. Praying for DP...

SS, praying for DD. Also for your house situation. You could use the survey to renegotiate the sale price. After all, your offer was "subject to survey". You could either insist on the work being done, or something "off" to help towards the cost of the work. They are going to have problems selling as anyone else coming along will find the same defect... Glad the baptism went well!

mufti · 02/09/2009 08:45

hi all, sorry i know its been a while
i do read and try to keep up
got somebody asking for chuggingtons on iplayer . hard to concentrate
its been a lovely 3 years with my baby, but things have to change , a lot of you have done it already
he is starting pre school tomorrow morning, just 2 mornings to begin with, but it is a big deal. for both of us
it will be the first time i have left him with anyone other than family.
i am sure he will love it.
and i will regret all the times i have wished for a bit of peace, or just a few minutes to myself!

still trying with potty training , he is in pullups in the day. he will tell you he wants to do a poo , and has managed some in the potty, but not a wee. i keep getting him to try for one, but no joy yet.
looks like its going to be a long process , but at least there has been some , only a couple of weeks ago he was saying he wanted to stay in nappies for ever!
SS is your dd waking up lots in the night?
if i remember she is younger than ds, i think boys must be more difficult to do.
GOD BLESS to all x
