Prayer thread for summer 2009 - My grace is sufficient

DutchOma · 18/06/2009 13:24

My grace is sufficient for you 2Cor 12:9
and
When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor 12:10

Reading through last month's prayer request I came across the first text quoted by M44 and it brought the second one to mind.
When I am weak.....when I cry out to the Lord to my sisters to please pray for me, when life is hard....then I am strong.
I counted more than 20 names in last month's prayerlist, more than 30 when I counted the names Dippy had mentioned at the beginning of her update, so I will only mention a few names here.

We pray for Anna and Findlay, where real miracles of the Lord are needed.
For M44's mother-in-law in hospital
For Weegiemum that the Lord may uphold her as only He can. For Marc and Suzanne on their wedding day.
For Boilerwoman that she may take her strength from the Lord.
For Jentlydoesit and her DP that God may bring good into a difficult situation. Giving thanks for the new job.
For Swaliswan and dd2.
For Onlyjoking in this season of remembrances and for the children who are suffering more now than a year ago.
For Clockface with exciting changes to come.

And at this stage, sisters, I call you together to prayer for one another.
You know who you are - beloved of the Lord.

Prayers for a peaceful night for you, myjob.

I want to thank God for a fantabulous day of shopping with 2 of my DDs. ANd for the continuing healing of my DD3, who was determined to shop til she dropped.....and we did. Just 2 months ago she could not stand and had not been able to for nearly 6 months. Today we shopped and shopped and smiled and smiled! Thank you God!!
DH took DS fishing, and had a fantastic time too. But now they both smell of fish, even after showers and sprays and soaps. Banished to the tent in the garden toninght I think!!! Thunderstorm on way I hear??? Oh dear, they'll be fine!!!!

Love to you all.

Praise God for your day POA

Prayers for peace and calm tonight myjob [peaceful, restful emoticon]

DD1 has taken to getting into bed with us at night, not a problem, but sleeps on my side of the bed, so I have a really rough night with DH fresh and chipper in the morning, having not been bothered at all. Small fry compared to you, myjob, but I don't do well on poor sleep, and end up taking it out on her. And because she is tired she is cranky. So not a great day, but tomorrow is another one!

Prayers for peace and restful holidays for all xxx

DutchOma · 05/08/2009 20:38

Is her bed too small for you PAO? otherwise I would swap and have a peaceful night's sleep

Sorry, no it's SilverFox's dd.
PAO's dd - well all I can say about that is Praise God for His mercies.

Myjob, I really hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Prayers for all.

I should swap really, but in the small hours, I get stubborn!

Thanks for the prayers, please keep praying about our moving situation, we haven't heard anything for a while and I am going to phone tomorrow. I just hope it is all done before the end of the holidays!

liahgen · 05/08/2009 21:02

Hi there,

I've only been in here a couple of times but I've been to a funeral today of a really really lovely lady, she was the lady that runs our local M&T group and was also ds's childminder when he was a baby, (6 now), she had leukemia and had it for a year before she found out as she was "too busy" to see a gp. Tragic really

She fought to the end and was surrounded by her children, (grown up, her husband passed few years ago) when her time came last week.

She was a true christian and a truly good lady, her faith was terribly terribly important to her and she was more than ready to meet her maker at the end.

Just wondered if you'd spend a minute wishing Wendy well on her last journey tonigt please.

Thanks

DutchOma · 06/08/2009 09:46

liahgen, so glad to hear your story about Wendy. She is safe in the arms of Jesus now and has left loving memories behind for you to cherish.
LTSF hope you get some good news on the house front, moving house is stressful enough if you know what you are doing, all this uncertainty is difficult to cope with. Are you packing yet?
Prayers for all in another muggy day.

Would appreciate prayers for this afternoon - dh's heart test results.

Prayers continuing for all

amberlight · 08/08/2009 10:42

The doctor was very pleased. Prayers of praise indeed.

MaryBS · 08/08/2009 20:28

So glad he is OK, Amber. This has been such a worrying time for you both. Is that the end of the tests now?

Notquitegrownup · 09/08/2009 07:15

Good morning all. Just back from a few days at the seaside. Thank you God for sunshine and ice cream and for wetsuits

Amber - welcome back! Have you been back long? Yeah for dh doing so well at the GPs. You must be hugely relieved.

liahgen - good to 'see' you again. Prayers for all who knew this lovely lady, that her love and faith will stay with you all, and that you will not be saddened by "what if". What a blessing to have known someone so special, especially for your ds.

LTSF - another one with a 'teddy bear' who appears in bed with me still in the middle of the night. It's quite nice on cold winter's nights, but I so enjoy the odd good night's sleep when it doesn't happen. Sleep deprivation is not 'small fry'. It's awful. Totally sympathise. Prayers for you to find a good solution for you all.

PAO - great news re your dd

Mary - welcome back!

I would welcome prayers for a new job I start tomorrow that I might really let God lead me through this new phase in life, and that I will lean on Him, and only on Him.

(I've been horrendously busy recently, so haven't been posting much. Anyone know if Justa is still around?)

God bless all.

amberlight · 09/08/2009 09:10

Nope, just a few days.

Prayers aplenty for all the situations as I read through them

monkey26 · 09/08/2009 20:29

hi to all
sorry to barge into your topic, this is my first time using any sort of chat so im not sure how it all works. I am trying to find out if there are any christian groups in colchester where you can go with your little ones and do bible studies etc
God Bless
Michelle and Noah

MaryBS · 10/08/2009 07:28

Hi Michelle (and Noah), you're not barging in at all! You're very welcome. Hopefully someone will see this and be able to suggest something, I can't think of anyone offhand who lives in your neck of the woods though. Feel free to come and pray with us, share with us, and generally hang out here. For some reason its a bit quiet at the moment, is everyone away on hols? , I only got back myself at the weekend.

NQGU, still no news on Fr Peter, I have his mobile, but if he hasn't got any money, then he usually doesn't have any credit on it either , so can't get back to me! Please everyone, keep him in your prayers!

positiveattitudeonly · 10/08/2009 08:14

Hi all and welcome to Monkey,

I hope you have all had good breaks away. Dh and I were both not working last week, but we had to stay at home. It was very relaxing to spend time as a family and do some nice things around where we live.

Prayers for those of you needing good nights, I hope they have improved. Praise for the heart results, too.

We have spent some time last week and certianly Saturday evening discussing plans for the future. DH feels he needs to do some sort of full-time mission work, but at the present time is totally clueless about what. We had a conversation on Saturday evening about being proactive (and prayerful) in searching for something, rather than waiting for God to put something in front of us. Then at church yesterday morning the sermon was in the parable of the talents and the fact that you fail if you do nothing, so need to be pro-active and prayerful and step out in faith. No co-incidence I am sure. We feel that things are beginning to stir for us again after 5 years of hard work, faithwise. We are now excited about what could be around the corner for us.
Sorry not explained very well. So much history to all this that would take pages to let you all know.

Anyway, Prayers for all, in all circumstances.

MaryBS · 10/08/2009 08:20

PAO, that does sound very exciting! Will keep you and DH in prayer. The parable of the talents is one that is very close to my heart, and keeps me going when things get tough. That God has given me gifts, and he intends me to use them, and if I don't, I'm burying them in a hole in the ground. What are your husband's gifts, what does he have to offer? Is there anything in the back of his mind or yours that you are dismissing as silly, or is there, like a little niggle, that you can't quite grasp? Pursue that "still small voice"... God's blessings on you both!

amberlight · 10/08/2009 17:19

Prayers continuing for everyone.

positiveattitudeonly · 11/08/2009 08:40

Thank you, Mary, for the encouragement. The last 5 years of life has shaped us very differently to how we were before then. DH would say that he is still trying to work out where his gifts lie (always elsewhere), but he is very good at man management and really gets on with anybody. I have been doing administration and accounts over the past 5 years, which is totally different to the nursing I did before we had children. We are both "Behind the scenes" people rather than up front, talkers.

The only "silly" idea that we both joke about is the fact that we love the heat and a mission somewhere hot would suit us lovely. (although a friend hates the heat and has just done 2 years in Senegal, so not sure that qualifies us for anything!- probably end up in Iceland!!) We are both up for anything and are open to where God wants us to be and whatever He wants us to do. So we will start there and see what happens!

Prayers all round. I am hoping that the fact this thread has gone a bit quiet is because everyone is either doing OK, away on holiday, or both. Have fun, whatever you are doing.

CaptainDippy · 11/08/2009 13:56

Hello! We had good hols Went too quickly though - You have all been in my thoughts and prayers and I am glad to have finally found time to come and post!

LovingtheSilverFox · 11/08/2009 23:00

Hello ladies

Things have been really hectic, unfortunately not connected to our house move! Other than having a few removals companies round to give us quotes, which weren't as totally as horrendous as I expected, although DH drew a quick breath in! We have started a little preparation, all my lovely "for best" wedding china is packed, all the old clothes of the girls etc is packed and at my parents (thanks for my Mum and Dad, Lord!). So we are in a state housewise, and the twins have decided they really should start pulling themselves up and try to walk. I was really hoping we would have moved before then but...I'm a proud Mum really! Their sister walked at 9 1/2 months so it looks like they are going to be on her timescale!

Please pray that when DH phones tomorrow we have a bit more news, about exchanging contracts or something, anything!

Glad your holiday was good CD.

Prayers for guidance in the POA household, He will lead you.

Please pray for us, I am coping better with DD1, but she can be 3 going on 12 at times! She is very willful, but is great with the twins, so I thank God for that.

CD - just a quick question, a bit cheeky really. I contacted my NCT branch leader who sounded like she would really support me. I emailed her some details she requested, but I haven't heard back. I know they take a break over the summer, should I try ot email again, or leave it until September? I don't want to badger her, but I hope she hasn't forgotten about me! Thanks x

LovingtheSilverFox · 11/08/2009 23:02

Sorry hit post before I had finished!

Prayers for you all over this summer. I thank God I have found a connection, and group of friends on Mumsnet!

MaryBS · 12/08/2009 07:52

LTSF, exciting and busy times for you! Praying you hear soon about exchange of contracts!

POA - that "silly" idea might be just what God has planned for you both, so be ready for that calling! As for being 'behind the scenes', it doesn't necessarily follow that will be your role, I'm the last person in the world that people would have thought God would have put "up front", but he gave me the talent, and I couldn't do anything BUT respond to his call! Rejoice!

CD, glad you had a good holiday, praying this will be the start of something new for you all!

Praise God, for another birthday for me too
