Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Hello all!

Beautiful babies MJIM and CCM! I am not intendng to have any more but your pics are making me feel very gooey and broody!

Could you pray for my dd please? She has gone to school reluctantly saying that she had a tummy ache. It was one of those "do I send her in, or not?" dilemmas and I decided to send her in as she didn't have a high temp or any other symptoms. But now I'm feeling really bad about it. I've asked the lovely TA to keep an eye on her. But prayers would be really appreciated.

Have a good day!

Well she got sent home from school at 10 am! She seems pretty much fine though and we've had a "cookery school" this afternoon, making vanilla biscuits, roasted squash and sweet potato soup, and dd's favourite, leek and potato soup. We like soup in this house!

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 14:44

oh my goodness it's nearly sorted.

The credit/reference checking all came back fine, it was just the rent calculator said "no" - which simply means I need to get a guarantor.

I'm hoping to ask my Vicar, but if she can't hopefully someone else at church will be able to help me out. And then that will be it sorted, I'll just need to get my HB applied for, pay the first months rent and sign the tenancy agreement (oh and sort out how I'm going to move).

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 16:17

It was horrible at work today, really stressful... to cap it all, finished with a meeting with HR, where I wasn't actually told anything, but they'd email me - well that hasn't arrived. On the plus side, and after a lot of pushing by me (and advice from Amber), they've arranged for an employment advisor from the National Autistic Society to come in and help me. But I'm totally exhausted... especially as you consider that I've just come straight home, and into the school to take a "Pizza Praise" bible study on Moses, and not knowing the subject till I got there (there were 16 7-10yos).

PandaG · 09/01/2009 17:23

welcome purple and congrats!

FAQ - sounds like things are coming together!

Mary, oh flower, sounds a right naff day. praying...

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 17:31

yes they are, although since posting my last post, I've discovered the person at church who has a large van is going to be working the weekend I@m moving so can't help me there.

So need to start thinking about how I'm going to move. But going to try and get the guarantor sorted and get the HB and tenancy agreement etc sorted first.

Then worry about that later.

CaptainDippy · 09/01/2009 18:21

Hope it all falls in to place ok asap FAQ, praying. xx

Hope DD is feeling better now CF. You did the right thing. x

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 19:14

I have a Zafira FAQ, if that's any use to you... or if you want to hire a van, I'm comfortable driving a Luton or similar.

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 19:20

Or maybe borrow the van and insure me to drive it...?

Mary - you're going to make me all weepy in a minute.

Don't be daft - you're miles from me (ok not that far but still quite a drive to come and drive a couple of times back and forth from this house to my new one and then back to where you live ).

Unfortunately she does gardening (and garden clearance) as well as her other job (which I@m not sure what it is) and she's got a job on that weekend with her gardening work - and her van is her business van .

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 19:33

Oh, I dunno, he's pretty broad!

So high, you can't get over him
So low you can't get under him
So wide you can't get round him...

Thank GOD for a sense of humour! Even if no-one else thinks I have one!

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 19:34

I wouldn't have offered FAQ, if I wasn't willing... I like driving.

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 19:41

thank Mary - that's very kind, I will bear your offer in mind (it's the weekend of the 30/31/1st I'm looking to move) .

Just wanted to share a bit of news about my cousin in Holland. You remember she was diagnosed with a brain tumour of the type that the brain makes itself, so not much chance of getting rid of it, although she had an operation that went very well. She was offered radio therapy and low dose chemo in tablet form, but was not particularly at peace about it. She was arguing with God, wondering what He wanted her to do etc because that would be all she wanted to do. She had accepted the radio therapy and they were going to do some scan with contrast dye, only they couldn't get the needle in. They gave up after four or five tries, decided they could do without it and warned her that her arm would be black the following morning. Only it wasn't. There was nothing to be seen apart from four or five needle pricks. Normally she bruises very easily too. And all of a sudden she heard the Lord say "Is that not enough sign for you?" And so she cancelled the whole thing, is riding her bike and driving again... for as long as it lasts. She says she doesn't care how long she has to live so long as she is living in the Lord's will.

Amazing DO! Gods blessings on her and her witness.

Please pray for NSFN and her dd. DD is back in hospital, suspected cyst, a month to the day since she had that other one...

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 20:04

wow that's fantastic DO . Hope she enjoys whatever time God has left for her here on earth.

Clockface · 09/01/2009 20:26

Wow DO! What fantastic news.

Sounds like a rough day Mary - maybe Mr Chenet might help you to relax this evening..? Love your song btw! "Soooooo high...sooooooooo low"

Hope you can get your move sorted out FAQ.

I need prayers please! I need to write an All Age talk (eeek - never done one of those before) on the baptism of Christ, for Sunday's service. The vicar is away so I can't even yell "Heeeeelllllllllppppp!" down the telephone. Please pray for a trike of inspiration!

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 20:28

ooo Clockface you prayer request has just reminded me that I'm going to be "interviewed" at our all age service on Sunday about why i wanted DS3 baptised EEEK.

Clockface · 09/01/2009 20:57

Well I have now got a structure for the talk! Praise the Lord!

Maybe I could nick that idea and grab one of the parents at our church to be interviewed... Good one! Hope it goes well.

FAQtothefuture · 09/01/2009 21:00

go ahead, she's interviewing me - as the parent of a child that has recently been bapitsed, and also an adult who is being baptised at the end of the month - to get both perspectives of it.

Not sure what I'm going to say yet........ermm I wanted it made official........DS3 was already part of the family of the church, and ermm those promises that I made (actulaly I didn't - I was too busy chasing DS3 around the church at that point though I did perhaps recite some of the responses from memory ) well I was alreayd going to do them anyhow LOL.
