Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

thanks - well basically it's mine, even if my credit check doesn't come back great so long as I can find a guarantor (and I'm 99% certain someone at church would be willing to do that for me) then it's mine

Going to fill in the intial paperwork and pay the agent fees tomorrow

Hello all.

Praying for all who need God's touch, including Amber, M44 and Rev.

Well my meeting last night - thank the Lord! It went really well! It looks like I'll be going to a big scary 3 day selection conference this spring, with a view to hopefully starting trainig this Sept if I get recommnded. I feel so relieved that I know what is happening and can start working towards it - I've been floating around in uncertainty for a while now and it's good to have a definite plan of action. Thank you Lord!

DutchOma · 07/01/2009 20:08

Congratulation Rosey (can't get used to the other name) So pleased that you are finding your niche, Even if it doesn't work out you'll know you've done all you could towards it.
Prayers for Amber, M44 and FAQ.
And everybody else of course.
And I'm sure you will keep Weeteeny in your prayers too and her friend's family after the sad loss of the friend.

Wow what a fab thread, didn't even realise there was a faith bit on mumsnet (thanks to myjobismum's profile page for having a link)

I'd like to add in a big thanks to God for an amazing 2008 and all He's done for me & DH so far (moved to new city & church etc). Our prayer for 2009 is for continued blessings; we've just found out I'm expecting DC1 which is very exciting but also quite scary.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 07/01/2009 20:14

Good morning everyone, and welcome PCH.

I had a quick look at your profile, PCH. You might have to change the phrase "plan to start a family in 2009". Or on the other hand you could leave it up as a testimony to your amazing efficiency in family planning, this being just one week into 2009!

God bless all

CaptainDippy · 08/01/2009 10:31

Great stuff CF Cont to pray for you. xx

welcome PCH and congrats on your pg!

I just read the link DO posted re Emily May Hughes How very very awful . You are right DO it is too painful to contemplate and comprehend. Praying for their family.

I feel so blessed having read that link. Who cares if I can't sell my house - at least we have a house. More importantly we have each other, love in abundance and bright hope for the future. Great is thy faithfulness Lord unto me

Please continue to pray for C and her family - (the lady in church who was widowed, leaving her with 4 children aged 8, 6, 4, and 2). Praise God for my friendship with C which began at the end of last year. Tuesday was a very hard day for her as her 4yr old started school with ds1 - she was obv upset as her husband wasn't there to share the special occasion. Lord, hold them close to you.

CaptainCaveman · 08/01/2009 11:12

Great pics mjim what GORGEOUS little ones you have!

New pics also on my profile - ds1 'off to school pic' and ds2 grinning. I am lurking in the background...

Hope he has a fab day MJIM

Continuing to pray for C, Fellow Captain. Cannot even begin to imagine what she is going through right now Praying your friendship will be a real source of strength for her and that you have some good opportunities to (gently) tell her how much God loves her and care for her and her precious family.

Mega busy morning with work, need to straighten myself out to go and get DD2 from pre-school .....

amber32002 · 08/01/2009 16:43

Hi PCH! Welcome.

Prayers continuing for everyone as I read through.

Here, son's busy doing his mock GCSEs so it's all very stressful, and I'm trying to explain to a group of people that no, I'm not just a burden for them, and that yes, I can help out rather than just be a drain on their resources , and yes, I do know that they're busy but they'd be less busy if they accepted help instead of trying to turn people away.

God is good. He'll get us there. But it does seem to take a very long time, sometimes...

JentlyDoesIt · 08/01/2009 17:57

Hello ladies,

CC & MJIM - lovely pics we are all blessed with beautiful babies

PCH - Hello (great name btw) and welcome

Feeling very today

Seen a dear friend today who has been as he is in a bit of a pickle with ex wife and another relationship. He told me that he saw his ex wife yesterday and that always makes him sad the day after but he wasn't this morning as he knew he was seeing me - that made me feel all warm and fuzzy

Lots of love and prayers for all.
