Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

DingdongZIPPILYonhigh · 04/01/2009 12:37

Hia all!

Prayers for all your sick children, mine are just about better, although still complaining of dizziness

DS1 13th birthday tomorrow, we are celebrating it today, dh taking ds and a friend to Laser quest, whilst I bake ds a birthday cake and put some nibbles on table for his return. Then in a Feb we are at last going to the 'Snow Dome' curtesty of the prayer thread last Feb, will show you pictures when we've been.

Prayers for the stillness I feel today, does that mean I'm calm does it mean I feel close to God, I wish I knew, only the rest of the day will tell. Will endeavour to keep the mood going.

Happy New Year to you all.

Love Sooz
xxxxx

CaptainDippy · 04/01/2009 16:22

Oh heck, yes the "Snow Dome" - I'd completely forgotten about that!! Hope you have a fab time! Sooooooz - you have a "teenager"

I wish everyone in my house would just hurry up and get better, these illnesses just seem to be lasting forever!

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 04/01/2009 18:06

Have a wonderful time zippyfamily . Hope you got a chance to explore that stillness. It CAN be used as an opportunity to get close to God - I find that easier though when the stillness is also quietness and darkness, and I can reflect without distractions...

DH has just come back from the hospital. FIL not very good - has one collapsed lung due to fluid buildup, and the other lung has pneumonia . On top of that, I have a lot of things stressing me out - too much to cope with at once, I fear...

CaptainDippy · 05/01/2009 08:22

Here for you sweetie, lots of prayers. God is your strength. xxxxxxx

Praising God sooz that you are able to finally enjoy the snowdome! Let me know what its like? I went to Rushcliffe park today with the ds's - I always think of you when i go there, seeing as we bumped into you at the train place (you know where I mean, I've forgotten its proper name!)

CD am glad you like the dress, I hope your girlies have much fun wearing it . Has your snow melted yet?

Viewer didn't turn up last friday At least the house got a good clean up

Ds1's first day at school tomorrow - we are all very excited . Must go and iron name tags in his stuff though!!

Why do you think God made 10 fingers and thumbs?

FAQtothefuture · 05/01/2009 20:55

Could I have a few prayers please.

I'm about to fill in a budgetting loan application form, hopefully to get some help with paying the rent up front, and other moving costs....

It's not that I'm not going to be able to save the money myself (should have it by the end of February) but if they say yes then I could be in with a chance of finding somewhere much sooner. Which will mean that I'll be less stressed about finding somewhere.

Just before Christmas exH got the letter demanding the full money outstanding on the mortgage, with 28 days to pay it. After that will no doubt come his court summons - now that could be months away yet, or it could be fairly soon.

The sooner I get out of here and get sorted the better really - I don't want to still be here when exH gets the court order to hand the keys back to the mortgage company........, so a loan from the Social Fund would be a massive help to me getting sorted before that happens.

And he has blessed your rosary? Lucky thing
FAQ, have you ever thought of contacting christians against Poverty? i have been supporting them for a few years now, but have no idea what it would be like on the other side of the fence so to speak. I know you don't have to be a Christian for them to help you, but I don't think you have to be a non-Christian either.

I'm actually ok debt wise (do have some small personal debt but well under control) , this is more finding the money for the specifics of moving. (which I will have regardless of budgetting loan by the end of February) but I really don't want to be waiting that long to move if I can help it. It's just the budgetting loan will help me get there a bit quicker.

FAQtothefuture · 05/01/2009 21:13

actually I really should be tidying teh kitchen up so I can go through the cupboards and start packing stuff in there (done everything but the frequently used stuff in the lounge-diner) and sorting out stuff for Ebay.......

What I don't use for my move is going to be used to get rid of some of my personal debts

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 05/01/2009 21:13

Do the prayers work better if the rosary has been blessed by the pope? Did I ever tell you I was made a Eucharistic Minister in the RCC by Cardinal Hume...?
