Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Good Evening, Ladies.

It's been absolutely ages since I've posted on here. I frequently come and read through people's post and pray for you all, I just rarely find the energy to post myself.

I'll keep my little update brief as I need to go to bed and try to get some sleep. I'm now 31 weeks pregnant and due to finish work on Wednesday. Work has been rather stressful of late and it will be a huge relief to not have to deal with any of the stress for a while. All seems to be going well with the pregnancy. I'm starting to get lots of niggling pains and I can't sleep very well but apart from that, everything is progressing normally. DH is well and is very busy. DD keeps on getting the usual coughs and colds that toddlers do but she is OK. I would really appreciate her starting to sleep a bit better following her latest cough. She is starting to get a bit trying at times with her typical toddler behaviour but part of the problem is my tiredness so I can't complain! We put our flat on the market on Monday and are waiting to see if we get anywhere with selling it. It would be soooooooooooooooooo lovely to finally be in a house

PandaG · 22/02/2009 22:49

Just recently I've taken to reading my "New Daylight" daily reflections on the loo . There is always a prayer at the end. I mean to pray it today, because it really speaks to me at the moment. I guess that makes it a "toilet prayer"?

"Lord I would rather be nervously useful than serenely alone."

Because I know my life would be far less complicated if I weren't in ministry. And I tell myself I can still be a good Christian if I weren't in ministry. I could perhaps even be a good Christian if I worshipped quietly on my own, rather attend a loud busy church where so much is expected of me. But I'm more useful where I am, I THINK. Only its a bit hard to do sometimes, to keep going. But I'm nearly there in terms of training, and about to begin an AWFULLY BIG ADVENTURE in God's name. At least I THINK that is what He intends for me. His will be done, anyhow.

PandaG · 23/02/2009 08:02

great prayer Mary. sometimes I would rather be serenely alone - but I want to rather be nervously useful if that makes any sense?!

MaryBSearchingForaJob · 23/02/2009 08:11

I know exactly what you mean, which is why I think that prayer is so powerful! Of course, there are times when it is good to be serenely alone (as in without other people). Jesus did that too, to regain strength and to pray. But it must have been really tempting to stay up that mountain and pray and to not come down and do His Father's will.

DuctchOma - I've just had a Eureka moment - I've just reliased who your DD is.

I would have met you if her night out in Northampton wasn't cancelled (think she was ill?? - was while she was pg a few months back) as she was going to "ask her mum" if it was ok if I hung around at their house while she put her DS(?) to bed before we went out LOL.

DutchOma · 23/02/2009 12:15

lol, oh dear, had you really not 'clicked' on that?
What a joke.
