Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

I've just got in from the pub, had 2 halfs of cider, I don;'t drink normally so am very happy after 2 halfs (or is it halves) no sooz I think its halfs, oh well they were nice! I did ask if I could have half a half.

Night night! Sleep tight! see you in the morning!

Good morning all. Flying by with thoughts and prayers during a hectic half term.

Yay for dh going home Amber. So pleased for you both!

Webstermum, well done for getting to the GP, and for asking for prayers too. They are important first steps. Have you read "How to lift depression quickly - the human givens approach"? I heard it recommended on Radio 4 and bought it, but by then had turned the corner, and so never read it. If you would like it, do feel free to CAT me, and it is yours.

God bless all.

CaptainCaveman · 20/02/2009 16:54

Great news AMber, God is Good!!

Welcome back Sooz, we missed you!

Praying for you too WM, depression is difficult isn't it? I'm currently on clomipramine and wouldn't be without them - I just can't manage without meds, certainly not atm. Praying you get the support you need very soon and start to feel better ((((wm))))

Praise God - we have sold the house yippee! And we have had our offer accepted on the house we love. Solicitors are sharpening their quills as I type

ZipadiSoozi · 20/02/2009 18:26

cc - thats fantastic news, now the packing begins

Amber - So pleased dh being allowed home, prayers for his recovery, take care of yourself.

This morning I remembered why I don't drink alcohol, but saying that have had a lovely girly day at nottingham, treated dd like a princess, bear factory and primark! dh and ds1 went ice-skating, dh had a fall just waiting for him to return from the doctors, injured hand (silly billy) ds2 went to my dsis, so we've all had another treat today, just prayers dh is ok now.

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2009 19:33

Stupidly busy here - sigh!

Praising for amber's DH and for Mary BIL

BouncingTurtle · 20/02/2009 20:59

Prayers for Amber and her dh,
Prayers for Zippi's DH too, hope he hasn't done too much damage to his hand, and God bless your new home
Prayers too for Notsofarnow's dd, and for CC's dsis and dneice.

ZipadiSoozi · 20/02/2009 21:24

dh's hand is thankfully just really badly sprained and swollen, he can't turn his hand but can wiggle fingers, doctor doesn't think its broken, says to go to hospital tomorrow for xray if still painful strange! doctor also said, nothing can be done anyway

M44 · 21/02/2009 06:10

hello everyone- wow- some amazing answers to prayers here-that's great.....

DO- still looking for a place for you-didn't realise it would be so hard to find somewhere good! I hope you are still coming-must email you!

Hectic week- need a holiday to recover from this half term!

Just wanted to pop in and say- I haven't really left, just haven't had time to pop in- although still do not like the new layout, especially with a bit of a fragile head-own fault though-tasting home brew cider from the church cider collective last night!

notsofarnow · 21/02/2009 09:00

morning all wm praying for that horrid depression its awwful isnt it. ppraying you get the help you need quickly.

dd is much the same but does seem to perk up whenever she gets visitors of the male kind from work

DutchOma · 21/02/2009 09:02

M44 i certainly hope so. Please e.mail or ring when you have a moment, but don't worry about it, I'm sure we can sort something out.

No news about dd's baby, we've now had three false alarms and the EDD is coming up on Monday.

amber32002 · 21/02/2009 14:58

Dh is home, and it's warm and sunny!!

If there could be a greater contrast between last weekend when we thought he was going to die, lying there in bed unresponsive and hooked up to every machine they could find...and today with him sat in a chair at home reading a decent book and commenting on the news on tele, I don't know what it would be.

Praise God...

ZipadiSoozi · 21/02/2009 15:19

amber - indeed praise God

I took dh to a&e this morning, his wrist looked very peculiar to my untrained eye, but he is now home with a lovely plaster cast and broken wrist, very with doctors last night. But also, no fracture clinic open at weekends so everybody thats breaks a bone at the weekend has to go back on the Monday have the temporary plaster off (waste of money) and a new one put back on! [grr] appointment right in the middle of school run, and student review day. Plus no parking at the hospital!!!! think I may send him in a £15 taxi.

Please pray for patience and money problems, after just starting to get back on our feet from broken ribs, natural winter low business, then snowed off work! someone out there stopping us earning a living? or maybe just dypraxic dh, he's had 16 accidents in his life and he thinks thats good, I've have never had an accident, apart from marrying dh told him he has to look after himself, he is older now, his bones are more brittle to knocks and fall, I think he still thinks he bounces back.

[[[[[[[[[[[[R-O-A-R}}}}}}}}}}

Sorry thats all me me me again, I just despair! I should be grateful we all have good health. Money who needs money

ZipadiSoozi · 21/02/2009 15:23

sorry that sounded so selfish

DutchOma · 21/02/2009 16:27

Amber, that is just wonderful. So glad for both of you, praise God indeed.

Suzi, I don't blame you ROARING, I think I would too under very much less trying circumstances. Just as the weather is getting better for gardening, very difficult.

lottiejenkins · 22/02/2009 11:24

Morning everyone. We have just had a lovely family worship in church, Wilfred was a sidesman and helped out with the hymn books. He then sat quietly through the service, the elders have been fantastic and given him a copy of the reading so he could follow it. I forgot to say for those who dont know us Wilfred is deaf. They also printed out the prayers and he followed them too. He used to take his nintendo to church and not get involved but he really enjoyed himself today.
He refuses to sit with me.(nearly a teenager) He sat with the vicars wife and she can sign a little too so he followed her! How wonderful it was this morning!!!!!!!!

MaryBSearchingForaJob · 22/02/2009 13:12

Lottie, sounds totally wonderful, no wonder you're so supportive of your church and how they handle your son's disability
(ps, am still sorry if I came across as stroppy to you the other week )

MJIM, 5 months just doesn't seem possible!

Roar away Sooz, maybe we can roar together! It does sometimes seem as things are all piling up, and whilst we can cope with individual things, its often a combination of things together that can hit hard. Am praying that your pile of anguish diminishes!

NSFN - praying for DD and for strength for you. Any news on that job?

Praying for all others on here who have asked for prayer, and for those who haven't asked and still need prayer.

Our retired priest today says he wants to commission a bendy bus which says "Ubi Caritas et Amor, Deus Ibi est"

(Or something like that) It means where there is charity and love, there is God.

What a superb message!

webstermum · 22/02/2009 14:53
