Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Prayers for dd please. I had a text last night saying that things were beginning to happen and that the midwife had arrived (homebirth). This morning I got another one saying that things were moving very slowly, no baby and the midwife had gone home. They are snowed in, as are we.

Praying for your dd DO, that God will hold them especially close at this time

MaryBSnowing · 05/02/2009 09:38

Thank you

Webstermum, perhaps you should read what I wrote on "is it OK to pray for icecream"?

icecream

Praying DO, for your DD and for all who are likely to give birth in difficult positions. May God take care of them all.

Praying for all those caught in the snow, for those in accidents, for those who are hurt.

notsofarnow · 05/02/2009 09:38

mary praying hun I know how you feel. I've not been in contact with many real life friends in the last 12 months because I withdraw and thinks no one wants me coz I oo miserable.

DO praying for safe arrival of new grand child.

For all those snowed in enjoy it. Just a light dusting here. Schools all open.

I'm bored.

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2009 11:37

The other thing is, people treat me differently (I think) because I'm in ministry. Like I'm not supposed to have any problems???

amber32002 · 05/02/2009 12:29

They shouldn't treat you differently. You're a human being like the rest of us.

Notquitegrownup · 05/02/2009 13:31

Afternoon all.

Mary, I so wish I was closer too. I'd love to pop in for a coffee and a natter. I have no-one here who will do that, either. Mixture of reasons, but living down south doesn't help. Folks drink much more tea/coffee up north!

Grrrrrr! Thank goodness for MN!

Prayers for dd, DO, and for dsis and dn, CC.

Webstermum - I'm sure it's OK to pray for snow (In all things bring your petitions before God with praise and thanksgiving) and its a good chance to explore why God doesn't always answer with a yes (although I must admit that I don't always let ds1 pray for Liverpool to win again!)

By the way, hello Webstermum! Are you a former prayerthreader who used to be W-mum, who has name changed, or are you new? I seem to have missed your (re)arrival.

Hello everyone else too

webstermum · 05/02/2009 14:06

Oh Mary lol at ice cream thread, thankyou this cheered me up no end & made me think I'm not doing so badly after all! Wish I lived near you I'd be a coffee mate if I could

DO praying for DD & safe arrival

Hello NQGU I'm not a reincarnation I'm just a gatecrasher, a newbie to MN who came to the SN board but couldn't resist a sneaky peek at what you lot had to say. I feel comfy here now so think I'll stay if that's ok?

BTW anyone interested in a Lent Bible Study?

JentlyDoesIt · 05/02/2009 14:28

Hello all,

Lots of prayers for DD, DO, hope the new arrival doesn't take TOO long

Sorry, bit of a selfish post, but could you all pray for me this afternoon? Got a bit of a scary meeting, with people visiting the house. Can't say too much more but your prayers would be very much appreciated. Am feeling very scared and panic-y

Thank you. xx

Notquitegrownup · 05/02/2009 14:32

Praying Jently that you will know God looking after you this afternoon. Praying that you will be able to hand over the situation and all of your feelings to him and let him be in charge, and that you will know him holding your hand and leading you through.

Hello WM Welcome. So glad you decided to hang around. A lent Bible study sounds great!

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2009 15:36

I'm in for Lent bible Study Yes, do stay WB

Oi nqgu!!!! I'm "daaaaan sarf" and I drink tea by the bucket-load!!!

Praying Jen. xxxxx

amber32002 · 05/02/2009 16:19

Prayers for all.

And yes, I'd like to try a Lent Bible Study. Can't guarantee to understand it, but I can try?

MaryBSnowing · 05/02/2009 17:12

I'm game...

FAQtothefuture · 05/02/2009 17:14

prayers for everyone.

The motivation continues to be there (sort of) - I've now got "stuff" in my kitchen cupboards, not all of them, but tonight we can eat off plates and with knives and forks (although admittedly still sat on the floor ) as opposed to fingers/spoons out of bowls/mugs/paper towels LOL.

And 2 of the boxes I emptied (glasses and crockery) were sat in the living room - so that's 2 boxes gone out of here too

PandaG · 05/02/2009 17:17

praying for you Jen

I'm in for Lent Bible Study too

DH and I will get to the end of Ecclesiastes tomorrow and it has been a real hard slog. Not sure there was much I understood it is all meaningless, a chasing after wind , but hey God must have something to say from it so maybe I haven't been listening hard enough?

Mary, virtual cups of tea available here

DutchOma · 05/02/2009 17:21

I'd like to be in on it too. No news from dd, she appears to have gone 'off the boil'

Panda, I have a fabulous book called the Westminster guide to the books of the bible. Summarises them all nicely and understandable

CaptainCaveman · 05/02/2009 20:13

I'd love to join the Lent group too

Ds1 off school today due to snow. He cried when I threw a snowball at him - well it did hit him plum in the face, and it was a BIG snowball! . I did laugh though
