Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

No school here either have been out sledging not for long tho before they got too cold.

More prayers needed tho feel like i've taken a hundred steps back.Think I know the reason but ended up sitting at GP's and crying this morning.

PandaG · 03/02/2009 18:25

prayers for all of you.

DD's school shut today, so I took her sledging this am then to a friend's for lunch. DS's school was open much to his disgust, so he went to school. less than half the pupils were in, and the whole school got to play on the next door school field (secondary school as shut) then did extra ICT and art for the rest of the day - so he had a good day. BUt if I had known the message was if it is difficult to bring your children in don't, I would not have sent him - a day sledging with me as a family would have been good. I met him form school with a sledge, the first time he has really sledged apart from me dragging a sledge in the garden when he was tiny and he is now 9!

love to all

Prayers for Naomi MJIM. xx

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 20:18

Well I am now making some progress. This morning the DS's helped me bring my computer desk into the house. And I've got it set up in the corner with my chair.

Also managed to take a few more bits of beds upstairs, including my double mattress (with the very able help of DS2 - he's a proper lateral thinker so was able to help me figure out a way to get a huge mattress up a set of stairs that has a 180 degree turn in them.

Tonight I got my washing machine and fridgefreezer in. I now have a load of washing on = which feels fabulous, I brought a MASSIVE blak bag of washing with me and the pile had of course grown since then.

Also discovered (from my BF's DH - who brought my washing machine and fridge and a few other bits over for me, and plumbed my washing machine in) that the damp in the kitchen is almost certainly from a leaky washing machine (the one that was in here) - which would make sense - the house has been empty for 6 months, if it's been dripping water all that time (and there's nothing else that could have obviously caused the damp) it was going to cause problems. All of the underneath of the machine that was in here was soaking, as was under the cupboards. He also reckons the dishwasher washer may be leaky too - so advised me not to use it yet but to ring the agent and ask for a plumber to come round.to check it all out.

BouncingTurtle · 03/02/2009 20:41

Oh progress, FAQ! Hope you can get the leaks sorted quickly!

Prayers for Naomi... is there other concerns as well as her weight?

I've been on a bit of a downer again today, just worried about work and money again...

MaryBSnowing · 03/02/2009 22:24

BT, I can sympathise with that!

Praying for God's love to shine into our lives, lighting up the dark corners which cause us pain. May we rejoice in the love that is freely on offer, rather than dwell on our own imperfections.

Notquitegrownup · 03/02/2009 23:30

Amen to that Mary.

Would appreciate prayer. Can't go into details here, but He knows what it is for- discernment, guidance, practical help would all be useful! Thanks

M44 · 04/02/2009 08:28

Morning-yes I know I said I would flounce to facebook and yes I have but just wanted to thank and praise God for all the beautiful things that are going on......

......may it continue.

Praying for you all.

FAQtothefuture · 04/02/2009 08:32

woohoo - the prayers are working - already had a positive morning, I've bathed (pressure in the hot water upstairs is just too low for me to shower) dried my hair, got the DS's ready for school, done a little bit of washing-up, done a load of washing and hung some of last nights washing around the house to dry.

Off to do the school run in a minute - and then will spend a bit of time at the old house cleaning surfaces - promised DH I'd get it cleaned up to a fashion as there could be tenants moving in this weekend!!!

Hopefully when I get back I'll get caught up with my (enormouse) mountain of washing and ironing, wipe the kitchen cupboards down and empt the kitchen boxes and when the DS's are home from school see if I can get DS1's bed put up.

DutchOma · 04/02/2009 09:21

Well done, FAQ.
Praying for NQGU, may the Lord bless you and keep you.
And Amen to M44's and Mary's prayer of looking for the light, rather than the dark corners, and for praise and thanks to God our Father.

Just had a text from Sooooz ....

"Hia, hope you are all enjoying the snow. Twins school reopened today after a lovely 2 days sledging. Could you pass on my prayers to MN. My modem broken. Take care, Soozi xxx"

amber32002 · 04/02/2009 16:32

BouncingTurtle · 04/02/2009 19:29

Prayers all round

for CC - bad news about her sister.

I've been feeling more positive today, got some interesting homeworking opportunities in the pipeline now, so hopefully will start earning soon!

CaptainDippy · 04/02/2009 20:08

Good stuff BT

PandaG · 05/02/2009 07:34

Prayers for all, especially CC's sister and DN.

well, it is snowing again here, first to arrive since Tuesday morning. Prayers for safe travel for all who are affected by the weather, and for thosewho are isolated because they are unable to go out in it.

CaptainCaveman · 05/02/2009 07:42

Thanks for posting CD, I am just praying that now I've rereferred her they will visit this time and not just close the case without taking any more information.

We are snowed in this morning Yippee!!!!

MaryBSnowing · 05/02/2009 07:50

CCM - she is in our prayers. And your niece as well.

Think the school will be closed today, its worse than Monday here. DH has gone to work, but the roads are bad. We've had a couple of inches of snow.

Can I ask for prayers that I get some support IRL? It is getting harder and harder not to withdraw, and I'm feeling very low. I need friends who'll just come and sit and natter and have a coffee with me. I have one lovely friend but her son (8) plays up when she is round here and it makes it really difficult to invite her round. I've mentioned him before on here...

CaptainCaveman · 05/02/2009 08:02

Praying for you Mary {{{hugs}}}

webstermum · 05/02/2009 08:57

Snowed in here too school closed & DH who set off fro work 2 hours ago has had to turn back.
DS so excited because God answered his prayer. My Dad said he's being silly & I shouldn't be encouraging him to pray like that but I think it's good to talk to God about everything & good for DS to have his answered, means he's more likely to keep praying. Don't know if this is right or not, just another thing I'm unsure about but at least I'm trying

Prayers for you Mary, may God's love surround you today & lift your low mood.

amber32002 · 05/02/2009 09:12

Still praying. Just made it home again after pointless attempt to get to work. My car will get through the snow, but it can't get through solid traffic that's going nowhere at all. Will have to try later. Praying for everyone still, especially CC's sister and DN, and Mary's situation re local friends.

Am very very tired. Trying to cheer myself up in the usual ways but not absolutely sure that it's working. We need it to be spring, I think.
