Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Snow!!!!!

FAQtothefuture · 02/02/2009 11:09

oh what a morning.

Couldn't find DS2's book bag for school, my microwave went bang and my winter jacket the zip completely and utterly broke - can't even use safety pin or something to do it up as the zip itself is buggered.

Oh and DS3 is being a PITA too...............

sobloodystupid · 02/02/2009 11:41

Thanks DO, like your dd I'm awaiting baby No 2.I'm in Ireland and we haven't experienced your snow so I'm ready to go! Praying for your daughter and myself...

Feeling guilty now sitting here in the Highlands with no snow when you lot are all struggling on. A bit too as my DS would love some snow & a day off the torture that is school

Hi All,

Not been on this week as have been away in Scotland for work - least I got back before the snow started.

Just a little wave at you all froma surprisingly snowy Dorset.

Anyone going to the New Fronties Youth Leader Conference this weekend - it's a long shot but it would be great to know if anyone else is going....

Take care and wrap up warm

sobloodystupid · 02/02/2009 16:50

Webstermum · 02/02/2009 19:57

Tonight's prayer from DS (age 6 soon to be 7)
Dear God, please please can we have some snow so school will be closed tomorrow, Amen x

BouncingTurtle · 02/02/2009 21:59

LOL!! I hope he gets his prayer answered

FAQtothefuture · 02/02/2009 22:05

I could do with some prayers for some motvation, my house looks that disorganised and jumbled since moving in that I just don't know where to start.

Really want to get it looking at least partially normal by the weekend - ie all furniture in correct rooms, all boxes in correct rooms, furniture assembled etc, and at ;east have given everywhere a clean over and at least un packed the kitchen stuff..........

Right now I'm sat with the general household mess from yesterday and todays around me and boxes and stuff exctly where it was left at the weekend,

Want to start getting it sorted but if feels like so much to do...........

BouncingTurtle · 03/02/2009 07:35

It can be a daunting task... best way to tackle it is one room at a time. Perhaps start in the kitchen? You'll feel more organised if you know you can rustle yourself up a proper meal!
Prayers for you too

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 07:38

yeah it's hard tackling it one room at a time when lots of the stuff is still in the garage lol.

Anyhow, I currently have DS1 running round with a plastic bag picking up all the rubbish - so it's already looking better in terms of housework........

BouncingTurtle · 03/02/2009 07:41

Got the boys well trained ... or at least one of them Are they going to school today or are yours closed? Have you still got loads of snow? It all got rained away last night, so Dh has gone to work.

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 07:44

I don't know yet whether they have school I'm watching the concil website carefully (when it's not crashing on me) as since I got up an hour ago 5 schools have appeared as "closed" - some of them citing safety issues.

Now DS2's infant school (on my old street) could well close for the same reasons. It's on a slight hill, a narrow street which doesn't get gritted and turns into a mini-ski slope when it's been snowing/icy.......

If his closes chances are the Junior school will also close as they're very closely linked with a LOT of sibling at the 2 schools

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 07:45

oh and still got a good covering - not very thick (maybe 2 inches on the road out the front?) but fully covered still.......

BouncingTurtle · 03/02/2009 07:47

There were Mners saying local radio weebsite were crashing yesterday, certainly the one local to me did - sheer weight of people checking for updates on schools and roads!

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 07:50

our local radio website says to listen or check the council website.

Well I can't listen as for some reason RealPlayer won't install properly on my computer this morning, so I'm left with repeatedly tring to refresh the council website which keeps giving me a "Server too busy" message

BouncingTurtle · 03/02/2009 07:54

How annoying! Have you tried calling/texting any other parents to see if they have had more luck?

Webstermum · 03/02/2009 08:41

Prayers for you FAQ & getting sorted with the house. At least if Dcs are at home you could rope them in to help, if they're not out playing in the snow
Ds's prayer went unanswered we still have no snow but he's trying again for tomorrow as it's his birthday
Prayers for all for a safe day today

FAQtothefuture · 03/02/2009 08:42

well neither of them are showing as closed on the council website (unlike most of the others in town), but I'm going to keep them off. It's blood freezing out there, they're both sporting coughs, and with the freezing cold DS1's cough is quite likely to turn into a chest infection.

Webstermum · 03/02/2009 08:49

That's all you need just now! Stay home, keep warm & healthy Do get them to help though, make it a game & before you know it the place will be looking & feeling like home

CaptainCaveman · 03/02/2009 09:48

Morning morning morning what a glorious beautiful morning it is too. God is EVERYWHERE today, I can feel Him.
I was just scrolling down the thread and the strangest thing - when I read sweetestthings name, I got a whiff of flower perfume , and I felt (and feel) utterly uplifted. Thank You Lord . Please do share in my joy

Had another house viewing at 6pm last night. The lady was a bit on the large side. As soon as she walked into the lounge, ds1 walked up to her, patted her on the belly and said "blimey, how much weight have you got to lose?" Dh nearly spat his teeth out. I think I just stood there speechless before uttering an apology

CaptainDippy · 03/02/2009 10:45
