Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Yes Suzi, dd is expecting number two with an EDD on the 23rd February. But she started having contractions on Tuesday, so i didn't know whether they would be able to come. However, they are both here (her dh is having to go to Birmingham for work tomorrow), Z is asleep and dd has gone to the pub.

Notquitegrownup · 31/01/2009 22:48

How exciting DO - do you think that it is like M & S - if her waters break in the pub, she gets a free drink??! Hoping you all have a lovely weekend!

Well done Mary and FAQ for moving house so quickly. FAQ - deeply impressed that you can connect up computery bits that efficiently!

Panda - even more impressed by the sound of your science party!

Good night. God bless all.

(NQGU wanders off hoping that she wakes up in the morning, and finds MN looking like it is supposed to!)

BouncingTurtle · 01/02/2009 08:04

Morning! We're not going to church today with ds being all poxy, though DH is going to the 8pm service tonight instead - that'll give him chance to catch up with some of our student friends, including ds's Godparents Wish I could go it has been ages since I've been to an 8pm service and they are always very lively

Blessings to you all in everything you do today!

CaptainDippy · 01/02/2009 09:27

I'd babysit the Poxy one if I was closer BT Hope he is beeter soon.

Exciting stuff DO!!

Right, shower before church, quick smart .....

BouncingTurtle · 01/02/2009 14:40

Aww thanks, kind of you to offer. We don't have family or close friends nearby, I have a few friends near here but they all have los same age as ds!!
But we knew the situation when we decided to have ds. Normally we go to the 9.15am all ages service which is lovely, they have a creche which ds goes to which is good because it is bit much to expect a lo to sit still for an hour and a half!

FAQtothefuture · 01/02/2009 15:05

yay Mary - I have my sofa in the house proper now (not in position but in the house at least so I can just shove it to where I want it.

Electrician came round to sort the hall light and before he left helped me move the sofa

most of the bits of beds are upstairs, next job (after coffee and fag ) is to try and get the cot upstairs......

Then get the TV sorted, actually I might do the TV first as DH can alwas help move the cot when he gets here.......

Not sure how I'm going to get that wardrobe upstairs - although I've now moved the canvas one (after dismantling half of it hehe) into the correct room.

MaryBS · 01/02/2009 15:08

You might need to dismantle the wardrobe too... get a pot of wood glue ready! Enjoy Evensnog, let us know how your CW gets on

FAQtothefuture · 01/02/2009 15:15

nooooo don't say that - I don't want to have to dismantle it all.........it was a bugger to put together

I certainly will let you know how the CW gets on

oh and I have TV now........I know I've got some AAA batteries somewhere for the remote but haven't got a clue where - so we'll have to use the box controls for now lol.

MaryBS · 01/02/2009 15:21

Dismantle the staircase instead then

Enjoy your new house, I hope you'll be very happy there... I meant to give you a card, and forgot!

FAQtothefuture · 01/02/2009 15:27

oh don't worr about a card - haven't got anywhere to put cards yet anyhow so it would have been put into a box and probabl only found again 3rs after I'd moved in so too late to put it up

oh - guess what I discovered today - totall by accident - a cupboard under the stairs! I was moving that bag of washing and tring to put the shoe rack on end in that spot - just so it was out of the way caught hold of something, - pulled on it and hey presto there was a cupboard (the door of which of course is decorated the same as the walls ) it's only a little one, but rather usefull I have discovered where the gas meter (and switch if I need to switch it off) is

BouncingTurtle · 01/02/2009 16:52

Yes gas meter always useful!

What nice leccy too

MaryBS · 01/02/2009 19:43

I did see the cupboard, when I was there... should have mentioned it then?

Glad you're getting things sorted, have you spoken to the neighbours yet?

I've been for a sleep this afternoon, didn't wake up till 6 ( again), but my aches and pains have just about gone!

CaptainDippy · 01/02/2009 19:46

Laughing at Mary and FAQ - you obviously had fun! Understairs cupboard is always good .... gas meter is even better!!

notsofarnow · 01/02/2009 20:57

Evening all. prayers appenlenty please feeling not good, emotionally drained for no reason well i suppose there are reasons but they all stupid like I went back to work last wk, worries about x dh and what he is or isn't doing. dc being not at all helpful have just had enough. Great now to top it all damn dog has just got on the table and ate the remaining birthday cake.

MaryBS · 01/02/2009 21:30

BouncingTurtle · 01/02/2009 21:34

Will pray the God gives you strength and comfort.

PandaG · 01/02/2009 21:38

praying NSFN. hugs flower.

just have to say had a fab morning at church. Had a 20 min slot at the beginning of all kids worship songs - DD was dancing at the front of church with her mates, at was really worshipful not just messing about iykwim. Then she got up on stage with some of the kid's team to demonstrate the actions to one of the songs.

we then had Bible Bingo, which is a game they regularly do in Kid's church, where they read a Bible passage then ask q's on it to 2 teams. DS was so enthusiastic wanting to answer the questions, then begged to be chosen to go onstage for the tiebreak (which he won although was a fun question - find the oldest member of the congregation - rather than a Bible q)

DD and her mate helped take up the collection before they went out to their groups. It was just so good to see them fully taking part in the service. I am so grateful that my children love going to church, and have lots of friends there, and lots of young cool Christian leaders to look up to. So, a big 'thanks God'

MaryBS · 01/02/2009 21:52

Sounds fantastic Panda

Our God is an awesome God who reigns...

BouncingTurtle · 02/02/2009 08:26

That sounds wonderful PandaG! Near the beginning of our all ages service, there is a bit for the los who are encouraged to come up to the front. Always lots of fun!

Very snowy today, apparently it'll get worse before it gets better! Let's pray for those who have no choice but to go out, especially for the emergency services who will no doubt have to attend the inevitable accidents caused by the treacherous conditions

MaryBS · 02/02/2009 08:58

Have just dropped the kids at school - have just phoned work, am about to attempt to drive in... keep me in your prayers!!!!

sobloodystupid · 02/02/2009 09:10

have a safe journey MaryBS, I am putting off going into town for a bit as am nervous of the roads. Hope you don't mind me butting in have popped in and out occassionally and namechanged. Just to say how lovely it is to have people celebrating and sharing their faith/beliefs...

Webstermum · 02/02/2009 09:28

Had a wonderful weekend. Ds2 birthday party was fab & Ds1 managed to cope with it (huge sigh of relief) Went to fantastic new worship event last night with lots of young people singing & worshipping God & having fun. Couldn't sleep last night because I was sso overwhelmed by it all.

Glad your move went well FAQ hope you will be happy in your new home

Prayers for MaryBS & all who are having to cope with snow today - for once we have none!

NSFN prayers for you

DutchOma · 02/02/2009 09:45

Welcome sobloodystupid. Reckon you will have to namechange again soon, though, because in God's eyes nobody is stupid, let alone bloody stupid.
Can I ask for prayers for dd, who is snowed in at the bottom of a hill. She is expecting the midwife to drop home delivery supplies off today, but has had contractions all night, nothing regular, and it would obviously be good if baby hung in there till the snow has stopped.

OP posts:
JentlyDoesIt · 02/02/2009 10:16

Oooh DO, lots of "stay put baby" thoughts for DD

Panda, sounds like a wonderful service

FAQ - happy new house, sounds like a fun moving day with Mary

Mary - good luck on the drive to work...

Hello to everybody else, we have loads of snow and plan on snowman building later when DS is home from nursery not sure who is more excited

BouncingTurtle · 02/02/2009 10:31

Eek at your dd being snowed in, DO!

MaryBS - take your time, rather you get there late than not at all, I pray God watch over you and keep you safe.
