Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Prayers for all this weekend especially Mary & FAQ for moving day & hope the snow stays away from where you are(actually I'd quite like some snow here so DS2 can use his new sledge he got at Christmas )

ZipadiSoozi · 30/01/2009 19:41

M44 - Prayers for your head-ache, I hate change aswell, took me 15 minutes to get onto mn this afternoon mind you after a few days, I'm sure we'll have got used to it.

Notquitegrownup · 30/01/2009 20:10

Flying by. Bouncingturtle, stock up on infant piriton as well as calamine (calamine cream rather than lotion is best) Piriton can be a life saver if they have cp badly as it reduces the itching and helps them (and you) sleep.

God bless all.

M44 · 30/01/2009 20:16

I am afraid I will just pop in to this thread from now on-my eyes cannot cope with this format and I have tried to change it.
with love M44

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2009 20:37

You just go into "MY MN" and change to "Classic" apparently - come back M44!!

LOL @ Soooz saying Happy Birthday to nsfn's DD6 You obviously lost some in the supermarket love

I don't think I can cope with my husband any more.

BouncingTurtle · 30/01/2009 20:45

CaptainDippy - oh no! What has your (D)H done? Do you want to talk about it?

MaryBS · 30/01/2009 21:13

Praying CD...

CaptainDippy · 31/01/2009 07:31

I've just tried to turn MN back to "Classic" and I can't either

Thanks for your support guys

amber32002 · 31/01/2009 08:09

Praying for you CD.

Hope the move goes well today for you FAQ and Mary.

Prayers for everyone else too. Poor ds has had stomach pains for a couple of days now but is being all teenagerish and saying it's not too bad (or as teenagers now put it, "meh!") Not sure what to do. No fever or digestive problems. So difficult when they get to the point where they're too big to drag to the doctors! Shall have to see how he is through today, I think, then insist on it.

SweetestThing · 31/01/2009 08:56

Morning - glorious day outside

Good luck with the move, FAQ and Mary.
CD, praying that you sort things out with your DH.

amber, I hope your ds is okay. Drag him to the doctor, even if you have to enlist the help of several strong adults to help you manhandle (?personhandle??) him there

Thank you for your prayers for our friend Nigel - his stomach upset turned out to be just that, and not host rejection. Thank you, God.

God bless everyone on this thread and those they love and cherish.

DutchOma · 31/01/2009 09:43

I have found MN different, but after two days not that much more difficult to cope with. I'm not sure whether I set it back to classic, I tried, but I'm not sure I did it. It's certainly still different from what it was before.
Praise God Nigel is alright, now we are still praying for Stuart, not heard anything on that score for a week.
CD hope you sort things out with dh asap.
Amber if he doesn't want to go to the doctor he can't be in that much pain. Leave him to he meh, I would say.
I am hoping we'll have dd and dgrandson here for the weekend, dgrandaughter can stay wrapped for the duration hopefully.

BouncingTurtle · 31/01/2009 11:09

That good news about Nigel, God is good!
Let Him watch over Stuart as well, and Amber's ds. Teenagers know best, don't you know Hope he feels better soon, Amber.

And watch over FAQ while she moves home, Lord, bless her and keep her spirit light and any troubles small and inconsequential. Watch over MaryBS as she leads by your example in holding out a friendly hand of assistance.

ZipadiSoozi · 31/01/2009 15:50

Hia all, had a strange calm day but bitty started all on my own, ds1 football, dts swimming with god-mummy, dh at tip, the pm took dts for bike ride, lovely day! ds1 & dh gone for a new bike, so now am shattered, still a bit poorly, can't quite put mi finger on what the matter is, feel I just want to lay down all the time throat getting better! also pulled muscle back of thigh/buttox excruciating walking, could jog to keep up with twins though, how strange.

Well happy weekend to you all, and prayers for this snow tomorrow

Hope FAQ & Mary ok

CD - prayers for you, hope you find that magical rainbow with dh, might be a big climb, tiring and draining, but prayers today is better (as a start)

ZipadiSoozi · 31/01/2009 15:53

DO - prayers for your family gathering this weekend, bit confused dgd staying srapped up, is dd waiting birth of your dgd.

PandaG · 31/01/2009 16:14

hello all.

great news re NIgel

praying the move is going relatively smoothly FAQ and Mary

CD - hugs honey. Praying for both of you, and your gorgeous girlies too.

I am shattered - had DS's belated birthday party this lunchtime - 10 8 and 9 yo boys doing science experiments in our kitchen and lounge - I've been weighing chemicals and practising making slime for days. It all went pretty well considering the excitement levels, and DS has invited one of the lads to come to God's Gang, and he wants to come! Hoping to build on the budding friends hip between our families.

amber32002 · 31/01/2009 16:17

Phew, son's stomach much improved. Thanks for the prayers! I wonder if he'd strained some internal muscle or other from getting back into sport after such a long rest from it when he broke his foot.

CaptainDippy · 31/01/2009 18:29
