Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

Sorry I haven't been on, but have thought of you all!

MaryBS - sorry to hear about your FIL He is with God now - glad he had a peaceful end. I pray that God watches over his family as they come to terms with their loss.

Amber/Webstermum - yes that thread made me both and to think that people had such awful attitudes towards people with sn. I pray that they will be gently persuaded by the examples set by those with and who have children with SN. Has anyone heard from the Rev? Hope she doesn't stay away too long!

PandaG - that sounds wonderful, well done you and your dh - I pray that with God's you will demonstrate to the young minds in your group the warmth and welcome of Christian fellowship And have lots of fun doing it!

Zipadisoozy - at least the doc knows what's causing the chest pain! Hopefully it'll get sorted soon. I shall pray very hard that you, your DH and all the children are blessed with good health so you can do to the snowdome!

CaptainCaveman - I'm sorry to hear your dsis hasn't as yet stopped drinking... I hope the SS will get to her very soon and give her some more help. Will keep your dneice in my prayers.

FAQ - oh no! Your poor DH! Can he appeal?

Was on a bit of a downer yesterday, feeling very worried about whether I have done the right thing leaving my job. I know I have, but yesterday I felt so anxious all day, driving home I had this awful feeling like I was never going to see my sweet little boy again and I couldn't shake it.
Am going to see the GP (not the one I've been seeing as I couldn't get an appointment with her) but a different one.

Webstermum · 28/01/2009 20:42

PandaG - Gods Gang sounds fab, how great for your DS to have Christian friends to share with. Hope all went well tonight

FAQ - for you & DH. I pray that you can do something about this as its seems unjust

Thanks to all for your welcome & your prayers
Have spent today helping out in my local Christian Centre & am feeling uplifted & surrounded by Gods love

PandaG · 28/01/2009 21:01

Oh FAQ - really sorry to hear that. praying for you both.

CC praying that you all can enjoy the trip to the snowdome

thanks for prayers all re God's Gang - it went pretty well I think, 2 girls and 4 boys so plenty of space for newcomers. They did a drama based on a couple of passages in Luke about persistence in prayer and wrote their own prayers. we had fun anyway!

FAQtothefuture · 28/01/2009 21:45

thanks - just spoken to him on the phone (well he can't come over as he's got DS3 so I can MN pack in peace). He's ok, he's not going to appeal, he would have to drive up to Manchester and back for any appeal meetings, and they of course wouldn't be funding that, plus they have all sorts of inner politics that quite frankly he can't be ar*ed fighting.

So he's just going to look for a new job and hope for the best (and once I've nagged him enough hopefully get down the jobcentre and apply for JSA - he's reluctant to do so "as he's never claimed benefits" ARGHHH - I guess somethings about him will never change lol).

He said he was glad he had DS3 there with him today though as apparently he's spent the entire afternoon grinning and him and giving him hugs - and when not doing that distracting him from his current thoughts of being unemployed by throwing tantrums.

So tomorrow he starts job hunting, he'll do anything so long as it pays the bills (well except clean toilets, he did that for the DVLA when we first came to the UK and he found a better job verrrrrry soon after starting the toilet cleaning one hehe)

It's a really kick in the teeth for him though as he took a 10k paycut to take on his current (well past now I guess ) roll because they wanted him to do it, and then ended up in the middle of office politics as the person everyone thought was going to get the job didn't - and he (DH) did.

FAQtothefuture · 28/01/2009 21:47

oh but he's not too worried about potential employers being put off by him being fired

"oh I see you were sacked from you last job - why was that"

him: "oh well you see I hadn't transferred my TV licence to my new address while attending my son's Christening and then dashing off to London for them"

We both have visions of many potential employers falling off their chair laughing - it's not like he stole something, or beat someone up, or turned up to work drunk is it

ZipadiSoozi · 29/01/2009 11:55

FAQ - Prayers for your dh with his work issues, and prayers for your move, (and your packing)

Panda - Hia, congratulations on your 'Gods Gang' sounded like fun, prayers numbers improve, still early days, word of mouth will soon reap all the kiddies in. Good luck.

BT - prayers you day seems better today

WM - fab work your're doing at the 'christian centre' prayers for you to continue feeling that 'uplifting' feeling.

CC - Prayers for your dsis, it must feel sooooo frustrating for you, hope the SS are soon at hand.

Sorry more moans, Tonsilitis is now with me, feeling pretty rubbish, but soldiering on to work later, luckily someone is 'shadowing' my teaching slot, so she may well have to yell instructions for me

Just booked tickets to a local theatre group putting on a pantomime of 'Rumpelstiltskin' dmum twins and me! (28 Feb) another thing to at least look forward to. Treat from dmum! plus ddad just paid for mi dancing shoes. Praise God for my wonderful kind parents!

Yes me taken up Ballroom and Latin Dancing again, used to do it 30 years ago so little rusty, but its all coming back to me, enjoy it so much, and keeps me fit!

notsofarnow · 29/01/2009 12:50

sorry not posted for ummm quite a few days but do continue to think of you.

Mary so sorry to hear about your loss, praying for Gods loving arms over comming days.

cc praying that your ds sees the light as it were. Know what your feelingthough its like hitting your head against a brick wall.

Faq I am sooooo happy that things are working out between you just praying that the job situation sorts itself.

For all those poorly or struggling praying you feel uplifted very soon.

Prayers for everything listed above.

Still not entirely right after the recent events on here - just not coping properly with unexpected things. Very grateful for people's prayers and support.

notsofarnow · 29/01/2009 13:31

I've just taken the dog for a walk and its flipping freezing my cheeks are burning from the wind.

amber32002 · 29/01/2009 13:44

NSFN we had a very very long thread with lots of views on how it would be a good idea if no disabled people were ever born and how they're a burden to society and I didn't cope very well.

notsofarnow · 29/01/2009 13:52

oh my life I ccan't believe that people would think let alone say things like that. I am so sorry you have been hurt I would be too that is a disgrace and in my opinion its those that have said those things that should be asked to leave mn xxx

amber32002 · 29/01/2009 14:28

Well, they weren't. It was suggested I might like to take a break instead
So many parents with disabled children who were really upset who could do with prayers too.

CaptainDippy · 29/01/2009 18:46

Happy birthday to your DD NSFN

Glad it was the ribs and not the heart Soooz xx Praying for good health.

FAQ Praying he find a new job soon. xx

Glad you are feeling more Webstermum

I haven't stopped today and I am worn out. Need to go and held DH with girls bedtime. Back later

Love and Prayers, especially for you amber. You so need them right now

Webstermum · 29/01/2009 20:48

Prayers for all tonight, especially you Amber

MaryBS · 30/01/2009 07:38

Praying Amber, hope that today brings many blessings for you, and for everyone on here.

Prayers please especially for MIL, as she comes to terms with her loss.

Also prayers for the family and friends of Sarah, the 17yo who died last week. 500 people, mainly youth, turned up for her memorial service on Wed.

Prayers too for FAQ and her move this weekend, praying that the delivery driver turns up . Prayers too for DH, for his job situation and for continued improvements in your relationship.

amber32002 · 30/01/2009 08:02

Prayers aplenty for everyone and every situation today

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 08:07

lol Mary - I have faith that my delivery driver will turn up

MaryBS · 30/01/2009 08:22

Tell you what though, I'm glad the snow is forecast for Sunday, not tomorrow!!!

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 08:26

there's snow forecast???/ oooo blimey didn't realise that - and yes it's good that it's Sunday and not tomorrow.

Oh we'll have an extra pair of hands in the morning too - my BF has a "yoof" training course tomorrow, but other friend is going to be here between 9 and 10 to help for a bit too.

btw - do you drink Tea or Coffee?

MaryBS · 30/01/2009 08:33

I drink both, but usually like coffee first thing (white no sugar) as I need the caffeine hit! Great news about the helping hand.

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 08:35

that's ok - was just checking as if you drink coffee I can pack the tea-bags in one of the small food boxes rather than in the "VITAL ESSENTIALS" box (which will contain mugs, kettle, coffee, sugar, biscuits etc)

notsofarnow · 30/01/2009 10:42

sounds like you two are going to have a fun day on sat don't envy you at all.

Amber praying you see God's blessings in your life today and are able to put all this horrid stuff to the bac of your mind.

Please pray today applications are being short listed for job I have applied for. I applied in November for same job but heard nothing when i spoke to them on monday they say they never remember reading my application and that i sound like an ideal candidate for the job. So prayer that they will be able to sift my application out as they get no names just details of why you want job etc.

FAQtothefuture · 30/01/2009 10:44

I have the keys to my house - it's all signed and sealed, just the moving to do tomorrow

amber32002 · 30/01/2009 10:51

Ooo no, I want the horrid stuff well away from the 'back' of my mind if that's ok - that's the only bit that does the thinking in this brain and it's too good at panicking! (especially with the new layout of mumsnet - really confusing) Can the horrid stuff be shoved into the front bits of my mind that don't work properly instead?

Prayers continuing for all

BouncingTurtle · 30/01/2009 12:03

Prayers for Mary - that you get shortlisted and that you hear from any other jobs you have in the pipeline!
Prayers for Sarah's family - 500 people. Her life may have been short, but clearly she touched so many people - I hope her parents will find some comfort in that.
Prayers for FAQ - hope the move goes smoothly! You must be very excited I heard snow wasn't going to be until Sunday and Monday.
Prayers for Amber too please you do not need a break MN needs more people like you.

Prayers for my little Daniel who has come down with chicken pox! He is ok at the moment, just rather spotty, but have stocked up on calpol and calamine, as the GP said he'll have a few grotty days before he is better. I also had a chat with him about the Asperger's he was very kind he didn't dismiss me out of hand but he was cautious due to my current depression. He wants to treat me with that before making any decisions about a referral.
Thank you MaryBS for giving me the courage to talk to someone about it, I've been afraid that I would get laughed at and told not to be so stupid!
