Christian Prayer Thread:- God of all faithfulness - from the old into the new

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:06

The Dippy household is still full of colds and pressure, so I thought it would be good to have a new prayer thread just on the last day of the old year, looking forward to the new.

There are three prayer needs that I think need flagging up:-

David and Fiona Fulton, with their children Iona and Luke and adopted baby Elizabeth. They are missionaries in the Gambia and have been jailed for a year in a very tough prison. here. Only a mighty God can deal with a tough problem by way of a mighty miracle. We need to pray.

Then there is the family of Emily May Hughes, known to NotSoFarNow who was killed because her father dropped a television on her head and she died. here. The horror of such an accident is too much to contemplate. We need to pray.

The third prayer request comes from Weeteeny who posted on a different thread: Dear God, if you exist and I believe you do, then please help my friend tonight. This is a young mother of children aged 14 and 12 who is in hospital with an infection that is not very responsive to antibiotics. There is no recent update. here. We need to pray.

These are the three prayer requests that I think are the most important just at the moment.

But there are a lot of us that are struggling with problems that are not too small for our God to consider and care about.
Mary, with sickness in the family and ongoing concern about her parents-in-law. Giving thanks for the release of P.
Amber with difficulties in getting the help she needs.
Swaliswan needing a special light bulb.
FAQ struggling with family relationships.
RevJusta, coming to terms with an early miscarriage.
Zipadisuzy with poorly children.

And some of us struggle with issues of faith:- Hullygully, who feels like the black sheep; be assured that especially the black sheep are much loved by God.
Trickcyclist who started a thread: I want a religion - who will have me. here

Let us continue to care for one another, to pray for one another and to praise God for His blessings in the year just gone by and in the year to come.

DutchOma · 27/01/2009 19:25

Oh Webstermum, it's not our thread that makes people sad, but other places where people are just not thinking hard enough before they write things down.
There is a lot of support on this thread and as far as I know nobody has really had issues arising from anything that has been said on here.
Prayers for Mary and FiL, for Amber and for all who carry burdens. May the Lord bless us all.
Glad you had a helpful train manager, CC and such a happy day.

Webstermum, there's lovely places on mumsnet - here, the Tea Room, the SN board, etc. And there's some places that are a little more, er, lively.

Can't fault anyone on this thread - they're marvellous.

MaryBS · 28/01/2009 07:34

FIL passed away peacefully last night. Thanks for your support and prayers

Sorry to hear of your loss Mary.

Swaliswan · 28/01/2009 08:55

Mary, so sorry to hear about your FIL passing away. Lord, please wrap your loving arms around everyone coming to terms with this. Please send your dove of peace to rest upon them and comfort them through their grief.

Webstermum · 28/01/2009 09:22

Mary I am so sorry for your loss.

I wasn't meaning this thread makes people sad it's just all the stuff with the rev and that other stuff which i can't even bring myself to talk about. I know you can block the threads but you still see some posts about them on here & sn. Sorry didn't mean any offence but in my sheltered little life I really didnt know these attitudes existed.

Haven't found the tea room yet, maybe it will have all the answers

amber32002 · 28/01/2009 09:33

Webstermum, it's in the One Child Families bit, the 'One and Only Tea Room'. Defies explanation...best visited.

DutchOma · 28/01/2009 09:35

DutchOma · 28/01/2009 09:39

Webstermum, please let us know if there is anything specific you would like us to pray for, just be asured that we would all be glad to hold you in love and prayer before the Lord.

OP posts:
Webstermum · 28/01/2009 09:52

Nothing specific, just feeling a bit lost and unsure. I asked the Lord for a sign and he sent my Minister to see me with an invitation to Bible Study tonight but I cannot go because DH is busy. Feeling very out of sorts & sad.

JentlyDoesIt · 28/01/2009 10:26

PandaG · 28/01/2009 10:40

Webstermum, praying for you too.

Please pray for us, we have God's Gang starting at our house tonight - a cell group for junior age children. DS has been going to it for a year, his cell got too big so is multiplying into 2 and we are hosting and helping with the leadership of one half. DS is really excited about it happening at our house and is inviting his friends. It helps that his best mate in his class is a Christian and will be coming here too.

ZipadiSoozi · 28/01/2009 13:04

Mary - Prayers for you atm, prayers for FIL passing, and your dh and family.

Webstermum - Hope we can cheer you up not upset you on this particular thread, we generally just all support each other, from small sleepless night probs, to marys parking space prayers to more sad news, but we mostly sort ourselves out through pray and support. Can you go to the bible study next week? I know how annoying it can be when things don't quite go our way, specially when its something for ourselves, which we deserve after sorting family things out.

CC - Was that a God-incident meeting such a nice BR lady to waver your rail fee, glad you got home safely though.

Jently - Prayers your cough gets better.

Thank you for your prayers of support, dh been to the doctors, Jently was right, the pains dh has in his chest are related to his broken ribs (he did back in oct) apparently the pain shifts around (I'm not completely convinced) but doc want to see dh in 3 weeks time, he doesn't want this pain to carry on, so thats positive, as long as dh heart is ok was my main worry atm. So praise the lord his heart is ok!!!!!!!

Still feeing a bit fed up and low, hopeing Spring comes soon and dc get well, specially for the Snowdome, Can't cancel any more sessions, vouchers run out on 29th Feb or I'll be refunding my gift to you all how embarrassing!

ZipadiSoozi · 28/01/2009 13:05

Sorry! Hia CD, Brain Emptied?????? are you ok?

CaptainCaveman · 28/01/2009 14:17

praying for you, dh and all your family Mary.

Continuing prayers for dsis and dneice much appreciated. Praying social services get their act together sooner rather than later

FAQtothefuture · 28/01/2009 16:39

prayers for DH please - he's just heard from work with regards to his "gross misconduct" (the TV licence issue) - they've fired him.

Notquitegrownup · 28/01/2009 16:50

FAQ I wonder if it was actually a chance for them to lighten their workload during this recession, and that during busier times they would have been more sympathetic?

Mary, thinking of your dh, mil and of course, you too.

God bless all.

FAQtothefuture · 28/01/2009 16:53

I don't think they wanted to lighten their workload, he's actually in the middle of quite an important training project with them at the mmoment, rolling out "electronic" TV licence machines to replace all the paperwork the visiting officers have to carry on them when doing home visits.

Plus they're a very large company with a lot of branches doing mostly stuff for Local Government etc so they're pretty "safe" even with the recession.

CaptainCaveman · 28/01/2009 18:05

Oh thats awful FAQ, praying for him.

Dsis drinking again - not even sure she managed 24 hours out of detox . She claims to only be drinking 2 glasses of wine 'of an evening' - this from the girl whose consultant told her 2 weeks ago, in no uncertain terms, that if she didn't stop drinking she would die. I challenged her about this today and she said 'everyone's circumstances are individual and I'm allowed to drink if it's only a couple' WTF, she must think I'm blimmin stupid!
