Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

Thanks DO. My vicar has basicaly told me that standing down is not an option. I'm going to continue to do the morning services as I am (despite my reservations about DS3's antics in the creche....), she will either use CD's or get our relief organist (or someone else if he's not available) to do the evening ones. Rehearsals she's told me that if I need to take the DS's, and people don't like it - well it's tough on them. Was also told by my friend who does the bulk of the childcare for me atm, who is also the church warden that I was NOT going to be stopping playing at toddler group and Leapfrog (our monthly after school service)....

Still don't feel totally happy about it - they're paying me (admittedly not much - it doesn't even affect my Income support as it's that low) to do all the services and I won't be........but that point was dashed down in flames by the vicars admission that actually they're only paying me half what I "should" be getting so therefore there would be no question of me not doing what I was paid to do.....(not that I'm complaining - it would mess up my Income Support etc if they paid me the proper amount).

So I'm staying.

Now I can concentrate on my biggest stress at the moment, saving the money for deposit and rent for when I have to move shortly after Christmas (oh and finding somewhere to live that's not too far from here and will take housing benefit).

I have just had a text from Jentlydoesit and have spoken to her on the phone.
Her dp has been having trouble with vision out of one of his eyes since Friday. It got worse and this morning he woke up with hardly any vision in that eye. Because Jen had planned a day out with her mother he wouldn't let her cancel and has taken the children with him in the car to the hospital.
She is obviously worried and doesn't know what to do for the best.
Please pray.

I'm coming back on here whilst the thread is short!!!!!!

I want to praise God for my COMPLETE healing from depression in January. I went on a healing retreat at Ellel Ministries & had deliverence ministry. It's amazing - it's taking time to get used to living without depression and experience real joy in my life.

Back to DO op, yes we're experiencing a spiritual attack on our work with the young people, some of them with amazing faith have stopped coming along all for reasons "too much school work", "small part time job", "exra dancing lessons" but we are aware that is the devil attacking them.

Perhaps we should start arranging our summer meet up now so it happens this year

MaryBS · 16/11/2008 09:14

Praise God for his wonderful mercy, Cargirl!

Praying for JDI, and for her DP, and children, keep them all safe, and grant your healing power on DP.

NSFN - praying that God GIVES you that sense of worth that you so desperately need. I pray that you will be open to his message, whatever it will be. We all know your worth, you just need to feel it too. Maybe you need to be needed?

Please pray for our church. For the sadness and division there. For God to heal those who so desperately need his healing. For those who are depressed, have had breakdowns or may be on the point of breakdown. For faith and trust and love and commuity and fellowship to grow strong. In particular for K, who desperately needs prayers at this time, but for the many others too I have not mentioned, but are held up to you, Lord, in my prayers.

MaryBS · 16/11/2008 09:15

Oh and FAQ, praise God for your vicar and the chance to continue in your organist duties - I know how much that means to you.

Just wish I'd gone 15 years ago!!!!

DutchOma · 16/11/2008 15:20

So are you going to issue an official invite for a meet-up next year Cargirl? I seem to remember that your church was suitable for a meet-up and if you pick a date now we can all work towards it.
Make an executive decision, that would be so wonderful.

Thanks for the round up DO, really appreciate it.

greta news FAQ - glad you are going to be able to continue, because it means so much to you.

Cargirl, lovely to see you posting on here, and so glad your depression has been healed. - God has healed me too, but I still need to be 'careful' from time to time - just not in the constant black fog.

Mary, praying for your church, especially K.

just had a lovely weekend with my parents and sister. Don't know if any of you remember but I asked for prayer for my mum earlier in the year when she had a major op . She got the all clear t o fly when she saw the consultant this week, and to do whatever her body tells her she can. It was mum's birthday yesterday and it was great to raise a glass to her last night. - so praise that God heals, and prayer that she and Dad would know Him in their lives.

DutchOma · 16/11/2008 18:31

Cargirl that's BLACKMAIL Where is the Miffy shop? In Groningen?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 16/11/2008 18:48

There are 5 but they are all in the Netherlands - it's a while since I looked at their site. I will ask at church about booking a room. I think we will either have to bring our own picnics or have cold shop bought food only as you need a health & hygiene certificate for anything more than making hot drinks!

I am finally a member now which will make it easier.

PandaG · 16/11/2008 18:52

If I come I have a food hygiene cert ( a few years old admittedly - got for the same reasons at our church)

CarGirl · 16/11/2008 18:56

Okay PandaG will make sure we have it when you can come .

They have a downstairs room with carpet & full kitchen & an upstairs room (have lift) which is hard floor & kitchenette - no cooking facilites though?

Thanks for such a thought-provoking round-up DO.

Please can I post a quick and possibly selfish post? I've been having period pains this evening that almost feel like braxton hicks contractions. I'm only 17 weeks and having had a premmie, it's freaking me out a bit. I'm going for a bath in a sec to try and relax and ignore them. I'm also going back to work tomorrow for the first time in just over a month. Typically, my sickness and dizziness has returned but I really need to go back to work. Please will you pray for peace in my heart and mind?

Clockface · 16/11/2008 20:15

I'm popping back in too while this is short!

Praying for you all, and for all children's protection. Watch over them Lord.

notsofarnow · 16/11/2008 21:14

evening all. I can't say how different I feel. How does all this change? Where does this depression come from and where does it go? I just want to be healed and am afraid that this is me forever. I have been prayed for but it never goes away it always rears it ugly head and I hate it.
