Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

Hello everyone, prayers for all - especially the family of that poor little girl - I linked to the story on "in the news" today and have just come on here to see that it was a family from a church close to one of us.

I had a pretty awful Christmas day, actually I lie, was ok until the eveing when my brother rang me. I have since made the decision to stop contacting my family. They've caused me more stress over the last 10 months than I can continue to deal with. I made the decision on Christmas Day and have slept every night since then.

They have exH's contact details, and my SIL's details (exH's siste who I'm still in frequent contact with) so once I've moved I won't be updating them with my new details. If they need to contact me urgently they'll have to go through one of them.

It was a hard decision to make, being family and all, but I think the right one for me and the DS's. However, I've felt much less stressed and more at peace with myself since making the decision, although the hurt and upset they've caused me in recent months still remains and is going to take time to fade.

Evening All,

Just a quick update before I toddle off to bed. Sorry that I haven't been on for ages. It's been a busy Christmas time with MIL visiting and everyone wanting to see DD. Computer keeps on playing up and I'm perpetually tired from stressful work problems and disturbed nights thanks to Bean. I'm 23 weeks pregnant now and all seems to be going well. I'm getting quite big and think that I'm probably cooking another chunky baby. Everything is fine here. The only little thing that I would really appreciate a quick prayer for is for a special lightbulb to turn up quickly that I've ordered. I know it sounds really trivial but it's a light therapy bulb that goes into my special alarm clock. I've had the light therapy for five years now and the bulb blew the other week. I'm really starting to struggle with the extra tiredness from not having the light and finding it hard to get to sleep at night without my 'sunset' to help me. I've ordered the new bulb but haven't heard anything to confirm that it has been dispatched. DH is getting very fed up with his grumpy, sleepy DW!

Praying it comes soon SS

Speaking of being grumpy and tired .... I am off to bed ...

Morning! P up sooo early - yuk!

How is everyone doing?

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 31/12/2008 10:18

llama, I had been praying for that family, it sounds like a "put up" job to me - they were led to believe they'd get a shorter sentence if they pleaded guilty. Will pray for mercy and sense to prevail.

DD has flu. DS has either parvovirus or tonsilitis. So a traumatic household. DS had a meltdown as I tried to administer his medicine this am. I had a meltdown as I was kicked and had medicine spat all over me . Thing is at 7, he knows whats coming, there's no easy way to disguise it, even in a drink (its bright orange and tastes of orange, and he hates orange - there was no option on the flavour). Bribery doesn't work.

Notquitegrownup · 31/12/2008 11:37

Good morning all.

Oh Mary {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} How difficult for you. Is it Ibuprofen you are giving? There is a cherry (red) version, I think, which is not very popular, or you might ask your GP if he/she can do you an ibuprofen suspension mixture - our doc did us a paracetamol suspension once, when ds1 was on them for something - it didn't taste like Calpol at all, but did the same job.

Welcome stuffitllama. I saw that family flagged up yesterday on our church website too. Soo difficult for them. Praying.

God bless all.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 31/12/2008 11:48

No its antibiotics. I have a solution though. I told the children I needed help testing a new chocolate orange flavour for a cake. I melted a plain chocolate cube, mixed the medicine in - still tasted bitter, so added a tsp luxury vanilla icecream - DS ate it all up and gave it a big thumbs up!

CaptainDippy · 31/12/2008 11:51

Rock on Mary - nice one!!

DutchOma · 31/12/2008 13:07
