Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

DutchOma · 27/12/2008 17:14

CaptainDippy · 27/12/2008 19:29

Me too, DO. xx

NoroomattheCaveman · 27/12/2008 20:38

Many thanks for your prayers, please do keep them coming. Oliver seems ok in himself, he just sounds AWFUL. Bless him.

DO dsis has been drinking a little of late but has now at last been seen by the alcohol liaison team and they will do a community detox starting 8th Jan. She did really well and drank very little (for her!) whilst with us. Glad she was going to mum and dads though, for that extra support. Poor dneice is the real loser. Very positively though, praise God, dsis is really acknowledging her problem (and its root causes) and is putting dneice as her focus, saying that she knows she will die if she doesn't stop drinking and she can't bear to think of her dd being alone like that. PRAISE GOD she has finally accepted this .

CD prayers for you and your illness, praying you soon feel much much better x

CaptainDippy · 27/12/2008 22:26

Notquitegrownup · 28/12/2008 07:27

Good morning all. Flying by.

Welcome hullygully. Prayers for you, Sweetheart, and do remember that you don't have to find your way back. Jesus is the shepherd leaves the sheep who are safe in the sheepfold and who goes out to find the lost sheep. He brings us home on His loving shoulders, when we get lost. Keep calling out to Him, and He will find you.

CaptainDippy · 28/12/2008 08:11

Welcome hullygully NQGU - I really couldn't have put it better myself - absolutely spot on - just cry out to Jesus and he will lead you home, my love. xxI am feeling much better today

Thank you all so much for your prayers Sadly prayers are now needed for DH who has succumbed and possibly for DD2 who is not awake yet!!

Notquitegrownup · 28/12/2008 08:35

Morning CD Glad that you are feeling better. Prayers for dh and just-in-case prayers for dd2!

JentlyDoesIt · 28/12/2008 11:06

Hello all, just uncovered the laptop from the ton of paper and mince pie cases

Amber - if you want to, please email me with your troubles, I will help in any way I can... prayers for you.

Hullygully - prayers for you too

CC - hope O feels better soon. DD had a horrid chest infection last week, it's awful

CD - glad you are feeling better, I always find hot whisky helps (even when not poorly!)

Mad waving to everybody else. We had a wonderful Christmas, with friends and family, it has been really special. A couple of pics on profile should you wish to peep...

CaptainDippy · 28/12/2008 12:09

Mmmmmm, a Hot Toddy ... thanks for the tip JDI - may try that later

ATM I have DH and DD2 sleeping in bed together, DD3 asleep in the car on the driveway (doors locked!!) and DD1 watching her Christmas Jungle Book DVD. Quite peaceful for a change Church was grrr this am though as there were no children's groups - so I spent the time out in the foyer trying to entertain three hyper, over-tired, mental little girlies. Sigh.

It is ok to bore us Amber We're listening and praying too! xx

DutchOma · 28/12/2008 13:15

Dippy, sorry to hear DH and DD are not feeling very well, I must admit I would have given church a miss, well done you for persevering.
JDI, how nice you look all scrubbed.
Amber, yeah, do come and bore us, I haven't heard from you forever (or at least a week)
Welcome, Hullygully, sheep are so silly, they keep running away from the Shepherd, just keep still dear, you'll soon be safe in God's wonderful love.
CC, good to hear your dsis is finally getting the help she needs.

I am very glad to be home after church, the wind on the way back was very hard to cope with on a bicycle. Home is lovely.

amber32002 · 28/12/2008 13:52

Nope, tis not the place. Too much going on with a list of people telling me to pray for those that have reduced me to tears again. Out of strength, wondering if my faith is worth it, not sure I'm ever going to understand it...best just leave me to sort it out with God.

notsofarnow · 28/12/2008 17:04

amber praying for an understanding of what to do hun.

cc bronchiolitus is awful all 4 of mine have had it more than a handful of times and the thing that has worked for mmine is putting themin pushchair putting rain cover down and put a boiling kettle under the pushchair it accts as a steam tent opening up the airways. works a treat.

Hia all, mixed bag of christmas festivities there:

CC - prayers for your family, ds with bronchitis, and dneic dsis, hope dneic got some pressies

CD - Sorry you had a rough christmas day, good you are being so forgiving and moving on bless you, prayers everybody is recovering now.

DO - visions of you bring blown around on your bike, are you ok now.

Mary - Are you ok now, did flu symptoms go away.

NSFN - prayers for the family from your neighbouring church so sad.

amber - you are an inspiration, keep smiling, head held high, good girl!

prayers for everybody else.

We've had an ok time, dts poorly with bad cough, dd says she is dizzy, may have to nip to docs to check ears, they havent recovered in 3 weeks, tiring now, bless them.

Trying to tidy house ready for new year, organised chaos, must be ruthless, must be ruthless!

DutchOma · 29/12/2008 15:29

Thanks Suzy, I was fine the minute I stepped through my back door.
NSFN, so sorry to hear about that little girl. May the Lord wrap His love around her family and comfort them.

OP posts:
amber32002 · 29/12/2008 15:55

Prayers continuing for all.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, too.

It's difficult for me to work through what's really worrying me sometimes, so it's not that I don't want to tell people - it's more like I don't know if it's right to/the right time to/who's going to get cross for random reasons if I say the wrong thing.

Anyway, it's about me trying to do the work for the churches, and putting myself under a lot of strain and fear, and people not understanding and not realising how much structure and predictability I need. And the realisation that because I've been pushing myself to the limit the last few years, I've probably done real damage to the part of my brain that doesn't work so well in people who are on the autism spectrum (amygdala). It's probably why I'm finding it more difficult to recognise people, and more difficult to cope with the unexpected - I've worn out its wiring by constantly overloading that bit of the brain. So I guess I need to work out what I can and can't now do, safely.

HallelujahHeisBorntoMary · 29/12/2008 18:11

NSFN - that's not the little girl who died following a TV falling on her? So very sad, regardless.

Amber - I know how much of yourself you are sacrificing for the sake of the church, and am praying for you, that God will give you the strength to do His work in His church.

I'm still coughing and spluttering - not feeling entirely brilliant, but it didn't develop into flu, so that's something.

FIL has had his tubes removed and is now sitting up and communicating. May his recovery continue. Thank you for all your prayers. Thank you God for you are good!

CCM - praying for you, your SIL and Dniece

Hullygully, you can do no better than ask God to guide you back. I was a lost sheep once, so understand completely how that feels. Now I'm training to be a shepherd, or more likely a sheepdog WOOF!

Praying for all who have asked for prayers... am off to cough and splutter again....

DingdongZIPPILYonhigh · 29/12/2008 18:59

Mary - lol training to be a sheepdog, not dis-similar then

notsofarnow · 29/12/2008 21:53

mary found out today that yes it is the little girl and the telly situation they had been out christmas eve to buy a new telly and somehow the Dad managed to drop it on his dd when they got home. Coroner has recorded verdict of accidental death today. so, so sad for that family. Please pray for the whole community it is a very small community where everyone knows each other and it has hit the whole community and surrounding community.
