Summer MeetUp For MN Christians

I am hoping to organise a summer meet up for christians on MN - last year we had a fabulous day in Oxford organised by NotQuiteGrownUp. We are thinking of July or possibly the end of June, and the venue is going to be in the West Herts area, which is reasonably easily accessible from the M25 and M1. (If you google-map somewhere like Hemel Hempstead, St Albans or Watford, that'll give you a rough idea of the area!)

We will make sure that there are lots of things for the dc to do, and lots of tea and chat for the mums! The day could include a short service, or informal prayer time...I'm trying to think of how it will work best, so if you have any flashes of inspiration please let me know! The food and drink for the day will be provided and if we all pay a little bit towards it, it won't be that much. Partners are very very welcome too!

It would be lovely to see as many MNers there as poss! If you'd like to come, please c+p to sign in here. If you could put your dcs' ages and any food requirements, that'd help with planning. I'll start the ball rolling:

Roseylea + poss Mr Roseylea, with 2 dc (aged 4 and 5, allergic to wheat, egg, soy and nuts)

I live in HH; I'll have a think

Boxmoor is another option - closer to train station - could walk there and has a church hall I could enquire about hiring for some shade? It also has a playpark/the canal running through it and is huge! - good for kites too although there may be a cricket match on it.

Gadebridge park is good but parking may be an issue - the carpark is usually full at the weekends...

er will think about it...

We really need Rosey to come back to us on this.
Bristol would be pretty far for me, much more difficult that Hemel Hempstead.

MaryBS · 16/05/2008 12:29

Bristol is too far for me...

FAQ · 16/05/2008 12:31

Bristol too far for me too - and having travelled down on the train last year an absolutely bummer with changes (especially if I have the DS's with me)

CarGirl · 16/05/2008 12:35

Bristol too far for me.

We could probably use our church facilities if you wanted to come but I am no hostess. We have a very new building extension, 2 kitchens 2 halls etc

I live J11 of M25 and it's walking distance from a mainline station out of Waterloo.

End of July is fine for me.

It sounds like Hemel Hempstead might be best for this year then (though Mufti might consider a visit to Bristol on a day other than the 21st, Pudmog, as she is not too far away, I think. You could offer a mini meet up over there if there is anyone else in the area, who can't make it to HH.

Notquitegrownup · 31/05/2008 14:47

Rooosssssiiiieeee, where aaaarrreee yooooouuuu?

CaptainDippy · 08/06/2008 21:30

Thought I'd bump this up a bit as nothing seems to have been resolved - what's the verdict!!!?

ZipadiSuzy · 09/06/2008 09:27

Yip good bump CD

amber32002 · 09/06/2008 12:42

Could do Hemel at end of July?

CaptainCaveman · 09/06/2008 19:16

oooh we are decisive aren't we. Can someone make a decision for me please?

Bristol also too far for me but Hemel is manageable. End of July may be pushing it for me but only coz I'm feeling HUGE at 30 weeks so goodness knows how I'll move around come 38 weeks - I'll have to be rolled everywhere!

CaptainDippy · 09/06/2008 20:27

LOL CC!

Notquitegrownup · 10/06/2008 11:15

Thanks CD. We need to alert Rosey too.

I can do Hemel at any time - 21 June still OK with me, if Rosey has to confirm the booking that she made. If that's not OK for others, should we look at early September, which would allow Rosey a bit more planning time/booking time - and allow CC to have a baby!

CaptainDippy · 11/06/2008 19:51

Early Sept would probably be a bummer for me as life will be changing quite dramamtically with DD1 going to school and DD2 at pre-school five mornings ......

Notquitegrownup · 12/06/2008 17:42

OOh lovely, are you hoping to come then? Thought you weren't going to be able to make it this summer.

Anytime is OK for me - happy to go with the majority

CaptainDippy · 13/06/2008 10:35

I've always been available to do something in the summer, just not in June!! July and Aug are fairly free for me atm; but I honestly don't mind ......

MaryBS · 13/06/2008 15:58

Can I assume its NOT 21st and make other arrangements for that day???
