Summer MeetUp For MN Christians

[Roseylea]

I am hoping to organise a summer meet up for christians on MN - last year we had a fabulous day in Oxford organised by NotQuiteGrownUp. We are thinking of July or possibly the end of June, and the venue is going to be in the West Herts area, which is reasonably easily accessible from the M25 and M1. (If you google-map somewhere like Hemel Hempstead, St Albans or Watford, that'll give you a rough idea of the area!)

We will make sure that there are lots of things for the dc to do, and lots of tea and chat for the mums! The day could include a short service, or informal prayer time...I'm trying to think of how it will work best, so if you have any flashes of inspiration please let me know! The food and drink for the day will be provided and if we all pay a little bit towards it, it won't be that much. Partners are very very welcome too!

It would be lovely to see as many MNers there as poss! If you'd like to come, please c+p to sign in here. If you could put your dcs' ages and any food requirements, that'd help with planning. I'll start the ball rolling:

Roseylea + poss Mr Roseylea, with 2 dc (aged 4 and 5, allergic to wheat, egg, soy and nuts)

well not far as in about 50 miles, as opposed to 100's of miles that most MN'ers are

oh I see lol - it can feel like everyone is a million miles away!

can't do the 14th.......that's when the car boot sale is, and I have SO much stuff I need to get rid of, and I'll already have missed 2 by then.....

Heeeeello! I've just had Rosey's email detailing all the stuff about the meet-up (thank you for that) Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it as it is my amazing granny's 90th Birthday on the 21st of June and we are heading to the New Forest to celebrate. Sorry guys - I'll miss you!

I know, I can't belive she is going to be 90!! I thought the meet-up was going to be July time so as a little confuzzled.....

Aaaggghhhh, Mufti. I have just discovered that I am going to have to be really late on the 21st. I can't get away from here until at least 1.30 maybe 2pm. I will definitely come down still, as I think we are only about an hour away, but Mufti, you might like to think about investigating a train trip there, as it would be a long way for you to go for just two or three hours. I am happy to bring you home still afterwards as far as here, of course . . .

center parcs good , we didnt hire bikes , so lot of walking , including ds as we didnt take pushchair.
he did really well, occasional rests on dh shoulders
got out and about a far bit too.

It's definitely 21st, Mufti, but good news! I can now get away 12.45 ish from here, so we could be there by 2pm if you wanted me to take you - that gives us 3.5 hours ish together. Happy to take you and bring you back to, or just to bring you back if you find an easy train there to get you there earlier on.

oh i don't know why, probably i just assumed as i dont usually have anything on a saturday, but i didnt check the calendar, now i have and find i have a meeting at 10am on the 21st, which will go on till lunchtime ish i expect. so cant make it

no. its an agm, got the date 2 weeks ago, didnt even think when thinking of meet up, 14th would have been fine, did think it was 14th

Is it definitely £10? Would it be totally unreasonable of me to try to find somewhere cheaper cos I think there are some MNers who won't manage that cost?

I've just read through this thread an I see that the first two weekends in July are out of the frame, but could we go for the end of July?
