Praying through April - Come snow, come shine

DutchOma · 07/04/2008 17:24

Looking back over the thread it is amazing how much has happened in just over a month:

First of all giving thanks for imminent and not so imminent 'beans'
Bobsmum - 36 weeks is it? Struggling with elephant feelings
Podglet on maternity leave now; CS booked for 15th April
Myjobismum - giving thanks for normal scan 14 weeks now and feeling more positive.
CaptainCaveman - give thanks for willyflashing bean. So sad about the lady seen in clinic with a 20 week pregnancy that is no longer viable, Lord have mercy.

Just flagging up some urgent prayer needs

FAQ (Queenofquotes) - marriage has broken up, struggling with life on her own with three dss. Situation not improved by the fact that her lovely vicar had a comprehensive breakdown and is in hospital. Praying for things to keep improving and giving thanks for friends around her.
Podmog Struggling with many issues - Lord bring peace and calm in all situations and relationships.
Praying also for Notsofarnow who is back at work but not finding life that easy.

CaptainDippy and ZipadiSuzy both struggling with rather parallel issues:- unfamiliar work and not a lot of money. Praying for perseverance and rest.
Swaliswan too is getting used to a new job which thankfully she enjoys more than she expected too. Struggling with dh being away a lot and mil threatening a visit straight after dh comes back.

MaryBS who has had such a lot of work to do and who is going for more clarity on a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome. Praying also for her friend K who will have an operation for cancer on Wednesday.
Also praying for Amber32002 who bravely went to church a few weeks back and who is talking about disability issues with people in the Church at high level.

Praying for Roseylea for clarity of thought on a 'thing that has cropped up'.

Giving thanks with Worzella and Notquitegrownup for enjoyable far away holidays

Praying for Panda's mum with chest infection.

Praying for OJ and Steve, Steve should be home by now but apparently there is some problem with transport. Lord, how we need you in this very hard situation, joy tinged with sadness.

And for all not mentioned NorthernLurker, Mufti, PenpotEca (how are things now sweetheart?) and anybody else - lets get praying.

OP posts:
amber32002 · 16/04/2008 09:54

Prayers for all here and all your situations.

Mary, a bold step, and let's hope that the course director is equally bold in looking for the positive and realising that you are Mary, not "a disability", and that there is nothing to worry about by either you or the church as long as everyone works together in love. Shall be praying

CaptainDippy · 16/04/2008 10:23

Morning - weirdy feelings subsiding a little, but keep coming back every now and again.

Well Done Mary - good for you telling your course direction - and brave and positive step Praying for Ruth and for K - any more news??

{{{{{Sooz}}}}} The Creator of the Universe loves YOU!

{{{{FAQ}}}} What an we do to help you sweetheart. You are precious, special and loved. xxxxxxxxxx

OUCH! - @ burn CC!

Roseylea · 16/04/2008 14:05

Huge prayers, FAQ. Keep telling us how you are, please, and we'll keep praying. God enfold you in his care and keep you safe in His arms.

Eeek at burn CCM. "You must be more careful!" as my dd tells me whenever I drop something / lose something etc etc.

Hi CD. Hope you lose those weirdy feelings.

Well done Mary at telling your course director and also for your assignment!

Hi Sooz! How's the swimming teaching going?

Well we are good. I'm trying to organise a new kitchen / garden makeover / repainting of entire downstairs / getting conservatory blinds, which are jolly expensive / swapping rooms aroung (not much, then!) all before the summer hols. I'm feeling very upbeat today because it all seems to be coming together. Maybe I'll become a property developer instead of a vicar...! (Only joking....!)

FAQ · 16/04/2008 14:19

well not having a great day.

Friend that took me up to Kettering on Sunday (and brought me back again) came round for a bit, made me some soup (from a packet) and a coffee, managed to have a little bit of both, but not much.

Just don't want to eat.

Need to get dressed at some point this afternoon, just had a phonecall for the advert I put in the paper to sell H's fish tank....he's going to call this evening and come round and have a look at it.....suppose I'd better empty the rest of the water out of it too...

Can't remember how much I asked for it though .

Roseylea · 16/04/2008 14:31

Hi FAQ! [waves]

Don't worry too much about eating. Just do what you can and take it all one step at a time (sorry for cliche).

Must go and get ds from superstar childminder - thank you GOd for her!

PandaG · 16/04/2008 16:29

praying for you all, especially you FAQ...I thought I'd linked the thread here, I certainly meant to ...

MaryBS · 16/04/2008 18:14

Praise God for this response:

"The process of discernment for ministry is ongoing for everyone on the course. I certainly have no reason to discuss your suitability at this point, although I am always happy to meet with you to talk through any issues."

News - K is disappointed that she wasn't released from hospital today. It is more likely to be Friday apparently. Have just safely handed over a sausage casserole to her family. I did offer to throw it on the floor first...

Ruth has to wait to hear the results of her operation as to whether she needs chemo or not.

Rosey, you're sounding VERY busy!

FAQ - praying for support for you. People on here and elsewhere on MN really care about what happens to you. Please don't EVER feel you can't turn to us for support, life will be worth living again, one day.

CCM - that burn looks like a whip mark! . Be more careful next time please! You can't get rid of stretch marks by ironing them!

I've been given the job of writing for our village mag again - ?Fear not that your life may end, rather that it may never have begun? is the theme I've been given. I thought I'd talk about all the new things I've been doing since the age of 40 , like flying a helicopter, white water rafting, paintballing... and training for ministry. And how out of all those things, the ministry training is the only thing really that will have a lasting impact on my life. What do you reckon?

PandaG · 16/04/2008 18:22

Fab response Mary, continuing to pray for K and Ruth. Your outline for the article sounds just right to me. I knew about the rafting but the helicopter sounds hairy!

had a couple of interesting discussions at work today, about ghosts and angels. Was able to talk a bit about my faith as a result.

Is the PTA AGM tonight; I'm standing down as Chair...praying that the right person/people are willing to take over!

DutchOma · 16/04/2008 19:31

Glad your spiritual director was so positive Mary. The outline for the village mag sounds very good to me. Flying a helicopter indeed, not flying IN a helicopter which is something I haven't even done.
Sorry to hear that K couldn't be released from hospital today, but good that you managed to get a sausage casserole across without hassle.
Our minister, who retired last Sunday preached about new beginnings, which I thought was very positive. It was an incredibly moving service, just about everybody was in tears, which is why there were two boxes of tissues on the table in front.
So sorry to hear that you are still struggling FAQ, do let us know if there is anything we can do, even if it's only taking one of the kids out for an hour.
Don't overdo it Rosey, it sounds like we were this time last year.
How's our Dippy?
No more news from Podglet

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 16/04/2008 20:02

Good evening, Ladies.

Congratulations Podglet and family! Elizabeth has such a beautiful meaning to the name.

I can't believe that you ironed your tummy CC! I hope that you are being more careful now when you do the ironing!

This week has been very exhausting for me so far. DD is in an interesting mood. She got me up at 04:30 today and I've been on the go ever since. I can't believe how busy I seem to be at the moment. MIL is coming to visit this weekend and I'm not looking forward to it. I think that she is going to upset DD by snatching her from me and DH as per her usual behaviour. DD is super clingy at the mo and isn't going to put up with it!

Could I ask you to pray for one of our doctors at work? She had an accident when removing the blade from a blade holder yesterday after a long and difficult surgery. The blade ended up in her finger and severed a nerve. She was very fortunate that an orthopaedic surgeon had a hand list today at the local acute hospital so she has had the relevant bits re-attached. Please pray for her to feel peaceful and that she makes a speedy recovery both for her sake and for our patients. It also puts a strain on her colleagues particularly one lovely female doctor who was about to go part time to spend more time with her little ones.

Swaliswan · 16/04/2008 20:03

Hello DO! How are you?

ZipadiSuzy · 16/04/2008 20:17

Mary - You have achieved so much since you were 40! good luck with the 'theme' for the mag, sure it will be a success! - Congratulations on the safe delivery of your sausage casserole

CD - You are so kind, I hope you are taking care of 'yourself' how is the eye infection?

Rosey - Wow, sounds like 'Grand Designs' going on in your household, - Swimming teaching going so well, I'm really proud of myself and have had good feedback from the customers, I now teach 30 children (4-9 yo) not altogether loving it!

FAQ - Continued prayers for you atm I live in Notts if thats close enough for any help.

Panda - Nice to have collegues you can talk to comfortably and openly, sounds like a postive, lifting moment.

Prayers for you all, sorry gotta dash!

Helping ds with homework,
DD escaping from bed! who has been a rebel today!
Garden toys to put away before dark!
Tea pots to wash!
Etc, etc etc

I want to watch 'The apprentice' then 'Desperate Housewives'

45 minutes left {{{{{{{{GO}}}}}}

tick tick tick!

(Do I feel half normal again tonight)

Yipeeeeeeeeee!

ZipadiSuzy · 16/04/2008 20:20

SS - Hi, prayers for your collegues finger, big OUCH! and for these pickles of our dd's, my twins both had full blown meltdown in the shops today, because I wouldn't let them have an ice-cream! bad mummy, tantrum lasted 1 hour!

DutchOma · 16/04/2008 20:53

Good for you Suzy to stick to your guns, must have been really hard.
I'm alright SS, prayers for your weekend. Hope dd soon calms down a bit. Glad to hear you are back at work and coping. Is dh still away?
Praying for your doctor and her poorly hand, how annoying when things like that happen, praying for peace of mind and speedy healing.

OP posts:
notsofarnow · 16/04/2008 21:17

FAQ may you know how much you are loved hun. Offer is still there to talk if you want. Although never got to stage of taking anything certainly know what it is to have those thoughts.

Are you getting any help for you to sort out your thoughts and feelings. Relate could help you even though you are on your own now - I went to them after dh left.

xavielli hello stranger how the devil are you?

Swaliswan · 16/04/2008 21:17

Yes, DH is still away but is back tomorrow I'm exhausted so I'm off to bed now. Hopefully we won't be getting up at 04:30 tomorrow

CaptainDippy · 16/04/2008 21:23

Sorry for no personals guys, but I thinking of you and praying for you all. My eyes are driving me completely nuts. I can bearly see, everything is all blurry and it is making me cross and angry and frustrated. I am sat here trying to do work and i can see the screen. ARGH!!!! Please, please pray my eyes heal soon. NorthernLurker · 16/04/2008 22:50

Lots of posts

That's a really encouraging response Mary

SS - that sounds like a horrible accident - hope you are less tired soon.

Dippy - go back to the doctors with your eyes! This is not normal and you cannot go on like that!

Praying for all on this thread - may we have the energy we need to get through our busy days, know peace in our hearts and thank God for all our blessings.

MaryBS · 17/04/2008 08:47

The outlaws announced last night they're coming to visit this afternoon after school. Yay they actually bothered to let us know this time, instead of turning up unannounced. Also with my blocked ears, I won't have to talk to them (Mary prays for forgiveness for such an uncharitable thought...)

Praying for all those who have cancer, and for those suffering strife in their lives (seems to be a lot of both atm... )

How is everyone today? CD, SS, NSFN, FAQ, Sooz... everyone else I've not mentioned.

DO - I won the helicopter lesson in a raffle. It was like flying in a small 2 seater armchair with a bubble and a small tail! Very weird!

DutchOma · 17/04/2008 09:36

That is just such a wonderful picture Mary, you flying about in a two seater armchair.
What did the nurse say about your ears?
CD, do go back to the doctor with your eyes, of course it is driving you loopy, nobody should have to put up with that. Just make an emergency appointment for this morning.

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 17/04/2008 10:15

FAQ · 17/04/2008 11:49

Feel quite flat today, have at least managed to wash the dishes. But my neck/shoulder is agony. Started hurting on Monday sleeping on that awful hospital bed, and seemed to be getting better, but obviously slept awkward again last night and now I can hardly move it - just what I need

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2008 11:53
