Praying through April - Come snow, come shine

DutchOma · 07/04/2008 17:24

Looking back over the thread it is amazing how much has happened in just over a month:

First of all giving thanks for imminent and not so imminent 'beans'
Bobsmum - 36 weeks is it? Struggling with elephant feelings
Podglet on maternity leave now; CS booked for 15th April
Myjobismum - giving thanks for normal scan 14 weeks now and feeling more positive.
CaptainCaveman - give thanks for willyflashing bean. So sad about the lady seen in clinic with a 20 week pregnancy that is no longer viable, Lord have mercy.

Just flagging up some urgent prayer needs

FAQ (Queenofquotes) - marriage has broken up, struggling with life on her own with three dss. Situation not improved by the fact that her lovely vicar had a comprehensive breakdown and is in hospital. Praying for things to keep improving and giving thanks for friends around her.
Podmog Struggling with many issues - Lord bring peace and calm in all situations and relationships.
Praying also for Notsofarnow who is back at work but not finding life that easy.

CaptainDippy and ZipadiSuzy both struggling with rather parallel issues:- unfamiliar work and not a lot of money. Praying for perseverance and rest.
Swaliswan too is getting used to a new job which thankfully she enjoys more than she expected too. Struggling with dh being away a lot and mil threatening a visit straight after dh comes back.

MaryBS who has had such a lot of work to do and who is going for more clarity on a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome. Praying also for her friend K who will have an operation for cancer on Wednesday.
Also praying for Amber32002 who bravely went to church a few weeks back and who is talking about disability issues with people in the Church at high level.

Praying for Roseylea for clarity of thought on a 'thing that has cropped up'.

Giving thanks with Worzella and Notquitegrownup for enjoyable far away holidays

Praying for Panda's mum with chest infection.

Praying for OJ and Steve, Steve should be home by now but apparently there is some problem with transport. Lord, how we need you in this very hard situation, joy tinged with sadness.

And for all not mentioned NorthernLurker, Mufti, PenpotEca (how are things now sweetheart?) and anybody else - lets get praying.

praying for everybody on the list. also giving thanks for ds4, who is now almost 2 weeks old and thriving. a herat scare at 24 hours came to nothing, for which i will be eternally thanful.

so sorry faq, didn't realise what was happening. God bless you and your lovely boys

MaryBS · 20/04/2008 19:08

FAQ, sorry to hear your parents are being such jerks over this. They are from a different generation, and have different ideas on what is/isn't right. It must hurt though, just when you need their support. I hope that the comfort you receive from MNers both on the board, and IRL, more than makes up for it.

Also, its at times like this when hymns can really upset - try to take comfort in your faith, I know it isn't easy, but for me, if I didn't have my faith, I'd be completely lost and at sea. Even when I didn't feel like turning to God, I'd turn to him anyway, and kept turning to him, even when I doubted him. Sometimes turning to him meant standing in church (without anyone else there) and shouting/screaming/crying at the top of my voice. I knew that in a saner, calmer existence, I had complete trust in him, and in times of trouble I needed to remind myself of this.

Hi Peachy, giving thanks also for your little one! Praise God the heart scare was just a scare. Is that a pic of your newbie on your profile? You need to update your child count too, you've got FOUR now!

Podgelt, she's GORGEOUS! Making me all broody!

Hi to everyone else!

Its been a busy day today. I've got a couple at church who've made it their mission in life to get me ordained . Told them its not up to me, its up to God! The pie for K's family went down a storm, it was absolutely delicious and sumptuous! We went to the St George's day service in the Cathedral this PM, for the scouts/guides etc. DD went because she is in the brownies. Couldn't hear that much, but there was some STRANGE music, including a scout leader in the scout revue, singing Pink Floyd's "I'm going slightly mad". I thought, you and me both, mate!

DutchOma · 20/04/2008 19:19

Aren't Podglet's pictures wonderful?

Lifting you and your family up to the Lord. Praise God that you all finally got the help you needed. Praise God that He has given your children a caring, loving mother and father.
Pray that He will uphold you through this day as you come to terms with the difficulties.

Praying today for FAQ

OP posts:
Roseylea · 21/04/2008 10:11

Podmog huge prayers for you and your family. My dd was given an Epipen last week for her egg and nut allergies so I know the feeling. She is also being assessed re. asthma so I know all the stress of all these things. Ds has also got ezcema but nowhere near as bad. If you want to email me - have you got CD'e email? Or Mary's? (If they don't mind that is!) I don't really want to post mine here because it's my full name! But I'd love to talk more about all these atopic things and support you if I can.

FAQ your parents sound like they didn't exactly help - but you must know in your heart that what they are suggesting is untrue. It sounds like you did everything you could to keep things together. How are you feeling today?

Podglet, beautiful pics! I am just a teensy weensy bit of you!

Mary at the couple in church and their mission! You can remember them in years to come when you're standing there celebrating the Eucharist!

Praying for grace for your MIL Swaliswan!

Amber praying for your friend in hospital .

Glad you had a lovely time catching up with old friends Panda!

Hope your weirdy feelings go away soon CD. How are you today?

As for me....there's a lot going on here, both external and internal, iyswim. I have not been that happy in my house since we moved back here because there have been so many things around the house that haven't worked well or are just pain ugly (such as the kitchen) and we haven't been able to do anything about it all because of no spare money. Well now we can afford to sort this all out, praise God! So I feel like this is my chance to get the house how I want it to be, but it's a lot of work. Every room needs to be redecorated and I really want to get on with it and have all the downstairs done by the summer hols, then tackle the upstairs next spring so that whatever we end up doing with the house (staying, renting out or selling) it will look lovely and serve us or other people well. So it might sound like a petty prayer request but I don't think it is really - homes are important, eh?

Snap Rosey - I am sooo grateful to God for providing us with this wonderful place to live, but there's soooo much that needs doing and no money to do it and it does get me down - pretty much every room needs redecorating here and we could do with a new bathroom and kitchen. Sigh. Our longue is a particular bug bear of mine, but I woun't go into that now - So lots of understanding and sympathy here Rosey - Go easy on yourself sweetheart. Like you said, you've got a lot on atm. xxxx

On a more positive note .... the gardeners are in doing the lawn today

Congratulations on DS4 Peachy Wonderful news, Priase God the heart scare come to nothing in the end. God is good!

{{{{{FAQ}}}}} Continuing to hold you close in thoughts and prayers honey. You are loved and special. xx

Podmog - goodness me, so much going on with your little man!! I have reasonably bad exzema and I carry an Epipen for a Latex allergy - you have my email once you've got yours back!! Praying he would indeed grow out of some of these illnesses. Keep Him safe and well, Lord. xx

Awwwwww, Podglet - DD is gorgeous .... soooo yummy, thank you for sharing.

Please pray for a friend of mine, J - she was supposed to pick DD2 up this am and hasn't turned up. I am worried about her and her mobile is switched off and no answer at home. Also, prayers for my BF who has gone back to work after ML today would be lovely - Thank you!

I ok, still a bit weirdy and could've really done with the space of having DD2 taken out this am, but hey ho .....

Message from Dippy - there is still no sign of her friend, no answer at her mums and the phone is still off. Can we pray for good news there and also (this is my bit) for Dippy who has a very busy day, lots to do and three little fireworks to contend with as she does it

CaptainDippy · 21/04/2008 12:53

Eeeeek, Podmog!! Praying you can recover enough - thank goodness your dad has lots of pics etc. xx

Awwwww, NL, you are sooooo lovely - thank you!

Nipping up here while DD2 is "looking after" DD3

Had text back from friends mum saying she had a party at the weekend and perhaps she had underestimated her ability to recover! She is going to nip home during her lunchbreak to check and then she is going to text me back .....

Oooooh, my garden is coming along nicely ......

CaptainCaveman · 21/04/2008 13:01

sorry I've not posted for a few days - been busy sorting out ds' new bedroom, putting new bed together etc.

Am utterly exhausted today - struggling to stay awake at work. Slept rubbish and then got woken in the middle of the night by ds coz he wanted a cuddle.

Now I feel selfish for moaning because my problems are minimal compared to what others are currently dealing with.

notsofarnow · 21/04/2008 19:54

dd1 also has epipen but has only had it in last 9 months and she is big enough to sort herself out, don't know how I would cope if she was little. Going back to see allergy specialist on 1st of may now that she has had a positive reaction to nut challenge.

Do any of your children or yourself dippy have a medi tag? If so how much did yu pay for them.

Could we pray for 8 yr old girl in my df church who has been diagnosed with cancer and has just started her cheamo. Pray for df as she has pastoral responsibility for this family.

I neeed to go do some cbt homework for tomorrow.

podglet · 21/04/2008 20:27

Hi all,

Thank you for your messages - yes, we think she is rather scrummy too! we've taken her to both our offices today and she has been sooo fussed over, even by some of the boys!

Podmog - praying for your ds

CD - how are your eyes? Glad your friend was ok in the end (apart from the stinking headache she probably had )

DO - Libby wore the white cardi out today and it was much admired. I told people that her Internet Granny had made it for her - hope this is ok!?

Sorry I can 't catch up with all of you but brain a little tired at the mo... praying for you all though.

amber32002 · 21/04/2008 20:28

Faq, praying for your marriage situation, and all you're going through with your parents too. As if you need that as well as everything else...

Peachey, prayers for your DS4 and for you too

Mary, I agree with them, for what it's worth re the ordination

Podmog, so sad to hear the news. What a worry for you? Shall be praying that things are a lot smoother now they've worked out what they need to do. And that you get your data back too.

Roseylea and CD, praying for strength, time and inspiration over your house decor/renewals. We've just been through months of that and it certainly did need prayer.

CC, prayers for energy for you, and a better night's sleep ahead

NSFN, will be praying for that little one. What an awful thing for her.

Prayers for everyone else here too.

Such an exhausting day for me, with the big meeting with the cross Bishop. Well, it turned out he wasn't really cross with me, but he was still mightily confused because he'd been told all sorts of things that weren't exactly so. Luckily I had an excellent disability advocate with me, so plenty of chance to explain (though little time to reflect as Bishops are Very Busy People). Went home afterwards for a sleep, which I desperately needed. Thank you to everyone who's been praying for all our situations. We're still waiting to hear whether the house of our dreams is being put back on the market due to the chain collapsing below us. Hopefully a straightforward day tomorrow, and some more sleep too.

Podglet, yes that is of course fine, I like being granny to many internet babies.
What a lot of health issues there are at the moment, so many sick children.
Praying for the little girl you know NSFN.
Glad your meeting with the bishop went allright Amber, had to laugh at bishops being VBP. What is he the bishop of?
Hope you all have peaceful nights.

Onlyjoking has a meeting today about the family situation and Steve's morphine has been increased, also their daughter is unwell. It's going to be a hrad day for her - much prayer needed I think thread here

amber32002 · 22/04/2008 08:06

What's he Bishop of? A county, but I don't think I'd better say which one. Although, the meeting wasn't about his county but about a rather naughty charitable venture he is a Trustee of who have been behaving badly without his knowledge. All very complicated, really.

More prayers for everyone.

DutchOma · 22/04/2008 08:53

Just caught up with OJ's thread, much prayer needed there. There is so much trouble there on so many different fronts
So your bishop is not really angry with you Amber but with himself and his 'naughty' trustees.

Just getting ready to go to the shop now, dh is still asleep as he didn't have a good night...again

Love and blessings to all
