Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Good afternoon.

Practical things today. MOT, baking, tidying etc. tensions are still very high here (they always are which is why i detest Christmas and have done since i was a child).
But i have ringfenced a slot of time this afternoon to catch the 2nd half of a book adaptation on R4 which is a fascinating mix of modern and old traditions which I thoroughly enjoyed last week. (2pm ish)

I hope that you are all able to find come calm and gentle amongst all the season hustle and bustle.

Which reminds me, tonight is the main night here so i need to go check the cooking times on the lamb...

Hope you have lovely days tomo

May I ask @VioletCharlottebamd anyone else who communicates with spirits: do you hear the voices outside your head or within? I always assumed I would hear them in my ears but when trying to communicate with my grandfather it’s like I go into a void inside my head and we speak there. Does that sound right?

VioletCharlotte · 24/12/2021 13:59

Trenzalor yes that's exactly how I hear spirits too. I also get a sense of them too, I can feel their energy if that makes sense? I also get smells sometimes too, which alert me to who is around.

I hope everyone's enjoying their Christmas Eve. I've been over to see my Grandma this morning, drop off presents and share coffee and mince pies, which was lovely as it brought back lots of happy memories of Christmas when I was little and she would come and stay. This afternoon I'll be in the kitchen prepping for tomorrow, I like to make cranberry sauce and stuffing, I've got red cabbage simmering in the slow cooker so the house smells nice and Christmassy.

Sending love to you all.

Trenzalor · 24/12/2021 14:02

Thank you @VioletCharlotte I hadn’t imagined it would be like that so I was a bit surprised.

Making the custard for the trifle now then on to the nut roast.

speakout · 24/12/2021 14:34

Trenzalor that is exactly how I hear voices from other worlds too. In my head, I don't always feel they are spirits, more like echoes or snippets from the past.
The sound/voices intensify if I touch something, usually a buulding or old wall. My town has lots little closes, alleyways, old walls, buildings reconverted, not unusual to see an interior fireplace on the external wall of a first floor building.
I often wander up these quiet alleyways just to listen. I can hear children playing, people laughing, talking, shouting, crying, pain and merriment. Touching the walls makes the sounds louder in my head.

HillsBesideTheSea I am sorry this time of year is s struggle for you, especially if it triggers unpleasant childhood memories.
I think there are usually only a lucky few that don't find some sapect of christmas difficult- for a whole host of reasons.
Dropping expectations and letting go of things that "should" be done can help.
Of course if we have children we want to make sure their christmas is an enjoyable one, but even then expectatios should be challenged.
Many kids would prefer to eat takeaway pizza on christmas day than a turkey roast dinner for instance.- and if that lightens the load then why not.
I have had christmas in a non christian country in the past- it was very liberating, just another normal day on a small island in a tropical backwater, where most people didn't even know it was christmas!

Like most rules in life they are there to be challenged!

Thank you @speakout. I shall do some more “head work” and see where else it takes me in the new year.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/12/2021 17:11

It is not the children that are the problem here. Ds would happily do pizza. But the parents', they want everything the way they have always had it because it is tradition. And they really don't like the fact that change has happened no we are not putting up the really tatty ornament that is not sentimental just because it has always gone there, we are going to put that really nice new ornament that doesnt have a home but you bought because you love it (we have thrown out some old and broken stuffs but oh the change trauma)

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/12/2021 17:13

On a plus note there will be very very nice food for tea and then i will be sleeping until tomo. I am sure one of the big problems is the lack of sleep this year. averaging 4hrs is not enough.

HillsBesideTheSea

Why only 4 hours dear friend?

VioletCharlotte · 24/12/2021 20:05

Hills my parents are a little like that too. I love them dearly but everything has to always be the same. I'm cooking this year as I wanted to give my Mum a break, but I can tell she'd much prefer to be hosting. She has a habit of making little remarks about anything I do that's different to the way she does it! I'm going to do my best to let if all wash over me...

No wonder you're so tired if you're only getting 4 hours sleep, I don't think I'd be able to function. Is it insomnia?

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/12/2021 21:07

A mixture of insomnia, stress, stress coffee drinking and chronic illness flare. And a bully of a to do list, combined with incompetent workmen that shifted completion dates by nearly 6 weeks. And being the family brain.

It happens. But i do need to make sure that i have more sleep. Not sure when because today has not gone to plan and it will need to be an early start to do the things that needed to be done tonight but can't due to stuff still being frozen. But boxing day I am not even getting out of my pjs other than to shower and put clean ones on. IF i feel the need to get out of bed at all.

hilariousnamehere · 25/12/2021 01:46

Ahh Hills I'm also averaging 4 hours sleep a night over the last few weeks and it's horrendous! Sending hugs, sympathy, energy and healing - whichever combination is most useful to you 💙

I had my booster yesterday, and met mum for lunch at a garden centre, and treated myself to an owl and an arctic fox and some beautiful leaf Christmas ornaments - which I suspect will make their way to my altar and my kitchen and not stay in the Christmas box at all Grin

Today was very achey from booster, but also lovely with a visit to Gran and prepping at Mum's, then home to wrap presents, write cards and cuddle my silly kittens.

I'm curled up with my heated poncho/throw just winding my brain down a bit :)

Am looking forward to tomorrow but looking forward to boxing day even more as I have zero plans to get out of bed once I've fed the cats. Stash of easy and tasty food, stack of books, perfection!

I hope tomorrow is a good one for all of you, lovely sisters - I'm offline for a few days but will hop back in when I put my phone back on! Xmas GrinHalloween Grin

VioletCharlotte · 25/12/2021 10:11

Morning sisters, just popping to say Merry Christmas. Sending solidarity to anyone struggling from lack of sleep, too much to do, etc. As usual, it's women who carry the load of making Christmas magical for everyone.

Hills and Hilariousnamehere I love your plans for a relaxing Boxing Day, sounds like it's very much needed. Monday will be my chill out day. I'm feeling a little daunted at the prospect of two full days with relations, so by then I'll be well and truly people'd out! I'm slightly envious of Aerwyna spending the day with the donkeys!

Christmas blessings to you all.
