Morning rosey! Praise God about your DD going to school with no tears - Did she have a good day??

Today's "Toilet Prayer" is, ironically, from David Adam himself ......

O Lord, give us yourself above all things.
It is in your coming that we are enriched.
It is in your coming that your true gifts come.
Come, Lord, that we may share the gifts of your prescence.
Come, Lord, with healing of the past,
Come and calm out memories,
Come with joy for the present,
Come and give life to our existence,
Come with a hope for the future,
Come and give a sense of eternity,
Come with strength for our wills,
Come with power for our thoughts,
Come with love for our heart,
Come and give affection to our being.
Come, Lord, give yourself above all things
And help us to give ourselves to you.

Ooh, I've got an Early Bird test I can let you have CD, sitting in the cupboard, from when I had a panicky moment and dashed out to the supermarket! Happy to post them off as I certainly have no intention of needing them again!

Rosey, so pleased that dd had a better day on Friday. Will keep on praying for her.

NSFN - what a lovely teacher. Sounds like a little trip to the GP might be in order. You might just need a bit of extra help to get you through the winter gloomy days. We all think that you are doing amazingly, you know, but it would be nice if you could feel that a little too. Did dd1s lost homework saga get sorted out by the way?

How's DutchOpa at the moment?

Mum sounds MUCH better today. Thanks guys.

God bless all

DippyChristmas · 01/12/2007 14:34

Glad mum sounds so much better today NQGU

I'll not be needing any tests for a while now as I am currently avoiding an August baby! Will bear you in mind Jan / Feb though - Thank you! xx

Roseylea · 01/12/2007 16:19

Dd is an August baby, CD! She was supposed to be a September one but was born 5 weeks early...so if she'd come on her due date she'd still be in reception (which explains a lot of her reluctance to go to s school IMO).

DippyChristmas · 01/12/2007 17:09

OK, I'll aim for Oct then!! xx

DutchOma · 01/12/2007 17:38

Thanks for asking after "DutchOpa" NQGU, since he is not Dutch he is just Grandad. The other grandparents are Granny and Gumps.
He is not feeling too bright since he didn't sleep much in the night and couldn't even sleep when he went back to bed after breakfast. I've been out most of the day and he seems alright, bit subdued.
Our 'wonderful' gas engineer did not turn up yesterday, had his 'phone turned off and has not returned the call. Don't know what's going on there, I know he is very busy, but what do I do next?

DippyChristmas · 01/12/2007 19:19

Poor Grandad Continuing to pray he would be back to his normal self asap. xx Not sure what to suggest about the Gas engineer, I guess, as it is a weekend, just to leave it til Monday and then try again - If he doesn't respond, then you need to find someone else ........

CaptainCaveman · 01/12/2007 20:34

Special prayers for dsis - she just phoned up in tears asking me to pick dneice up as dsis and ex-p were arguing, and she didn't want dneice to have to witness it. I suggested dsis come round too so dh has gone to pick them up. Poor loves.

harrisey · 01/12/2007 20:40

rachel nice to meet you (esp as you share a name with my dd2!). I'm in Scotland - Glasgow, where I'm in 3rd year at Bible College. Always free for a coffee if you are in the west!

Guys, could you pray for us this week - we have our Christollogy exam on Wednesday, then I have 2 and dh 1 essays due on thurs, and dh another the following tues. He's already submitted 2 adn me 1. We are very VERY tired, and I am stressed out as I have to get a good crade (B+) for getting in to the Master;s programme next year.

I WILL be back after the exams, I promise!

DutchOma · 01/12/2007 21:26

CC Prayers for your dsis and her dd. What a lot of stress for you and how much she will want a drink to drown her sorrows. Hope she manages it without 'Dutch courage'.
Harrisey, hope you get the grades you need, trust in the Lord and what He wants for you will happen.

notsofarnow · 01/12/2007 22:06

dd's homework saga got sorted out when I went in and asked the teacher if she had a problem with dd's work. She said no but she is very scatty. told her that dd felt that she didn't like dd and she said she wasn't in the business of not liking children. But i'm not the only parent to have a problem with this teacher.

Any way it was decided that she would do the essay again which she has done. But on another essay she had a level 6+ so she is well pleased. Also she told dd that i had lovely skin and lovely eyes that she thought that dd may inherit when she's older (creep)

clouds silver linings hmmm they are there and I know they are and yesterday and day before i saw rainbows so how cool was that.

I soo need to tidy up I wish I liked housework.

harrisey thinking of you hun its 10 yrs since we left college, I remember those deadlines so well.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 01/12/2007 22:40

harrisey: Afraid Glagow is rather far from how north I am (near Inverness) but thanks for the offer! Hope your studies go well - I wouldn't want to study and be a mum at the same time! lol I think I lost part of my brain when I had children!

Hope everyone had a nice day. It was dark & dull here (as often is!), but had a quiet & fairly relaxing day. Hoping to climb into bed soon, provided my "babies" don't wake up again! Already put my 2yo back to sleep again after putting her to sleep at 7. And Now nearly have my 8mo little boy asleep. Would be nice to think I can go to bed too!

Goodnight everyone! x

notsofarnow · 02/12/2007 09:04

ohh rinscotland. I lived nearish inverness well actually equal distance between aberdeen and inverness for 5 months when we were at bible college for a placement back in 1997 it was the best summer they had had in years it was gorgeous.

harrisey · 02/12/2007 14:34

rachel I used to be through Inverness all the time when I lived in the hebrides - ita a nice city, we would think about living there.

But now am in Glasgow pretty much full time. I only cope studying and being a mum as 2 of my kids are not at school and we can afford a fab nanny (dh is a student too but also a GP who does locum work).

If you're ever in Glasgow though ....

CaptainCaveman · 02/12/2007 17:45

Hi guys, hope you had lovely Sundays? We made angels in Sunday school, and ds learnt all about Mary being told she was going to have a baby named Jesus. He was very excited!

Dsis came to church with us this morning. She was wasted again last night, had been drinking in the day which is what I think started the argument. She just does not realise /remember whats happened when she's drunk, and can't see how any of it is her fault. Patience in abundance.
Had a chat with her (which she prob can't remember as she was drunk). Told her she will never get out of her hole until she faces up to her past and deals with her demons. She kept crying and saying she was terrified her dd would get hurt like we got hurt. Again, I suggested that it was her own past which was holding her back and making her feel like this.
She thinks she is having counselling soon, via the drugs and alcohol place in town.

She also tried to start telling me about her abuse memories, which mainly consist of memories about me being abused. At which point I told her to stop because I will not put myself in danger or a vulnerable position, and I went to bed.

Man my family are dangerous!! I feel like I have to be on my guard all the time (and I do!). I thank the Lord everyday for my wonderful dh and ds, a real oasis from the insanity that is my parents/dsis.
Phew.

I scored a goal today in hockey (2 if you count the penalty flick I scored too!) Yay for me

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 02/12/2007 18:26

Yay indeed CC! So sorry you have this difficult family situation - must be very hard but it sounds like you are very wise in knowing what is and isn't good and helpful for you.

DippyChristmas · 02/12/2007 20:00

{{{{{{{CC}}}}}}} what more can I say / do atm - You are being very wise imho sweetie - cont to pray for your DSis and your precious DNiece too. xx You know where I am. xx

Harrisey - God wrap you and you lovely family up in His love at thie time - May He carry you through these essays and exams - Looking forward to seeing you when you come out of the other side!!! xx

Glad the essay situation is cealred up with DD now nsfn - Well Done on the level 6+ - good stuff! and lots of {{{{hugs}}} and prayers for you right now. xxx

DutchOma · 02/12/2007 20:46

CC how good that you can be strong for your dsis. {{{{hugs}}}} Good she came to church with you.
Hooray for scoring your hockey goals
CD (or DC, whatever, don't make it too hard, I'm easily confused with all these acronyms) how are you? Did you make it to church? We didn't the weather was too atrocious for dh and I just didn't want to go on my own.

CaptainAngelGabrielCaveman · 02/12/2007 20:54

Thank you for your kind messages. I do feel very strong atm.

What's sad though is I felt that by coming to church with me, it was like my dsis was intruding in what is a very special place to me. A bit like when we were kids, and she used to go round and call for my friends! Feels very childish and I'm praying hard that God can show me how to deal with these feelings in a mature and Christian way.

Do you like the Christmas name?!

CaptainAngelGabrielCaveman · 02/12/2007 20:55

I'm not so sure - any suggestions?

And where is Sooz??!!
